Huling Araw ni Papa Francisco sa Pilipinas

Enero Diez y Nueve, Dos mil Kinse

Enero Diez y Otso, Dos mil Kinse

Inalo isang batang babaeng luhaan

Enero Diez y Siete, Dos mil Kinse

Kahit may bagyo, tumuloy sa Leyte

Unang tinungo lungsod ng Tacloban

Muling nilipad skull cap pagbukas ng pintuan

Talagang maulan at mahangin

Subalit milyong tao sumalubong parin

Kanyang idinaos Banal na Misa

Kasama ang mga biktima ni Yolanda

Huling tinungo ang pook ng Palo

Nananghalian sa tuluyan ng Arsobispo

Doon din nakasalo mga nasalanta ng Yolanda

Mas malapitang nakisalamuha sa kanya

Mga pinaslang ni Yolly puntod binasbasan

Iba pang kaawa-awa hinandugan ng tirahan

Suot ang dilaw na kapote

Biniyayaang material at ispiritwal ang Leyte.

Ikalawang Araw ni Papa Francisco sa Pilipinas

Enero Diez y Seis, Dos mil Kinse

Lulan ng isang simpleng kotse

Unang tinungo Palasyo ng Malacañan

Pinagsabihan mga pulitiko huwag magnakaw sa bayan

Sa pagpasok ng palasyo binasbasan mga bata

Sa paglabas ng palasyo binasbasan matanda

Ikalawang tinungo Manila Cathedral

Huling tinungo Mall of Asia

Enero Kinse, Dos mil Kinse

My heart was unduly fixated upon success
At first, I fail to give him my best
"I don't have time", was my protest

I was a young man at the time
In time, I found gold of a different kind
In California, I learned that I was out of line

My first citing revealed a man filled with pain
I quickly learned that Reuben was his name
For him, every day was more of the same

Love demands that we do the best we can
But at first, I was too blind to understand
That God had sent me a homeless man

Some people leave their hearts in San Francisco
Other people find their hearts in San Francisco
40 years ago, I found my heart in San Francisco

In lands of sun, a city stands apart,
A rare and misty jewel of human art.
Not built on easy plains or common ground,
But where the sea and golden hills are found.
The fog rolls in, a phantom, cool and grey,
To shroud the towers at the close of day.
It moves like the past, through the single gates,
A whispered mystery that the hour waits.
Its hills are vertical, a winding dream,
With cable cars that climb against the stream.
Victorian houses, daubed bright and bold,
A story in each cornice, we are told.
Where tech and grit in restless union meet,
And every vista feels, a brand new feat.
From Coit’s peak to the bridge’s arching wire,
San Francisco sets the rare soul on fire.
A compact wonder, singular and grand,
The rarest city in this western land.

Burn Up

I rode my first rice burner bike
beyond the wild blue yonder
going solo the only way to go
on a red 50cc Honda
as being part of a bike brotherhood
was never in my repertoire
and moving on in Hawaii
my next was a 650 Yamaha
my last tho' fairly fast
in fact still quite nifty
on the hills of San Francisco
was a black Suzuki 550
if a motorcycle means personal freedom
of the road stretching out ahead
why do so many feel the need
to ride in packs instead?

FRANCISCO THE SIMPLE DIED

The simple, spontaneous man died
he died suffering, but happy as he always was;
he knew the spiritual value
of "putting more water on the beans"
He knew how to forgive and ask for forgiveness...
He knew how to gather and welcome those in need
of bread and light!
good friend, amigo, hermano, fratello
 GOD IS WITH YOU !

Francisco

Build the towers you want,
this and that; green, red, and black,
Who defends you, that’s your business, but
Franciska is mine, my freedom.
Don’t pretend you don’t hear,
Neither prophets nor sorcerers will pass you by.
They will not help you.
Francisca is not interested in those planets of yours,
nor comets from which you send kisses and hugs.

Franciska is spring and summer and fertile autumn,
and you are winter, your cold soul.
That sounds like you.
Emerald Fortifications,
White Crystal Spears are nothing.
Nor the fire of the wicked dragons of heaven
they won’t help, they won’t help you.
Free bird, It’s Franciska!
Sweet words have long since faded.
She is the queen of all the colors of
the ocean and sea and all the purple dawns.
She is but a nightmare for you.
For me, there will be all of her colors.
She is mine,
The most beautiful queen.

A harsh word can kill, if I utter it.
So, dear God, I do not play with love.
I love you Dear Franciska

S~ Scent of the shining, Pacific Ocean, eternally bless me!
A~ Arresting fog, may your droplets forever surround me.
N~ Nights of rainbowed streetlights, dance, engulfed by the sea!

F~ Friendships, ah,so transformative, we gave each other the space to be!
R~ Resurrecting the grand glow of our hopes and oh so shining individuality.
A~ As full, white clouds, we brought glimmering hope to humanity.
N~ Nights, we honored the stars and earth, with wonder and humility.
C~ Concerned were we, starting projects to end hunger, compassionately!
I~ I was more than blessed to participate in these fulfilling days of glory.
S~ Scents of fresh, amazing anitsef, another aromatic, scented story.
C~ Compassion not competitive these loving memories do be.
O~ Or it seemed like not a city at all, but anthologically, some divine country!

              San Francisco Jazz Afternoons

Carries me back to those special Sunday afternoons with you.
The striped awning Jazz cafe, our very unique, ibeloved rendezvous.

The smell of the glorious, scents of the Pacific Ocean,
Those brown flirtatious huge eyes, lashes, my West Coast sensation!

My diamond engagement ring glittered like rainbow butterfly wings.
Memories of Coltrane, Davis, music that made you my heart laugh and sing.

San Francisco, always the beguiling, mystical jewel of my heart.
Everyday people who loved peace, jazz music, discourse, finest coffee and art.

You later, bought a fresh, intoxicating gardenia for my ebony bobbed hair.
Do you recall later, Union Street in The City’s, moist, foggy, sensuous air?

The spiritual City, was indeed our forever souls', sparking, galaxy prime,
We were both as daystars, walking its winding streets, so totally divine!

Those tanned, shapely legs of mine,
where have you gone?
No longer have I the ability to run!

Nor feel the glorious, salt water spray,
from my beloved, San Francisco Bay!
That kissed my sweating, dawn face.

Those foggy morns, the busy hands of
time have erased.
Some other body now, in its place?
This ghost of a runner, soulfully does state.

Who took away my youth in a dream?
If so, nobody heard a scream from me,
For now…left with joyful memories.

I am sitting here, composing soulful poetry.
Is this really how my life ends?
Stationary, on an internet device?

Prefer to be the woman on the run.
Than enduring ….no earthly fun,
Return me, please, to the “Bay to Breakers Run!”

You'll find a heart there
Somewhere

On a cable car seat
Or placed on a stair

In my careless despair
You'd think I don't care

Or my forgetfulness
But au contraire

My love was safe
In pocket deep

No chance to slip
Or deftly creep

But golden glow
Of sunshine light

Enticed a peek
Horizon bright

Inviting heart
To take a flight

No plan
Rough sketched

Heart's wings
Outstretched

I suppose I'm writing
Just to warn ya

Hold tight to love
In California
