Premium Member2025 Year of the Wood Snake

Wonderful attributes are associated with the Chinese New Year
The Wood snake brings wisdom, creativity, intuition and growth
She symbolizes renewal, transformation, patience and understanding
The snake’s major element is Yang fire
Yang fire is associated with the sun
Thus, bringing these attributes into Year 2025
Aboveboard, selfless, cordial, ambitious, righteous, foresighted

The snake hour is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This is when you might be the most creative or ambitious.
In China the snake is considered a little dragon.
Shy, retiring, a non-show off.
I think 2025 is represented well by the wood snake
I am eager to see what she does with us.

colonialists

Colonialists

They came to see conquered
plundered other nations' heritage
voices of dissent hung in the breeze
The elite thought of themselves
as educated
Wrote learned books about stolen
statues, marble, and so on
the significance of great art
The pilferers became ennobled
sometimes, for some, theft pays
Most of the stolen culture ended
up in museums
so people could feel in awe of how
foresighted the robbers had been
Now that we live in an enlightened time
The British Museum is no longer
proud of its possessions
return African art of wooden masks
those which come  alive at night

Novelty Rides Inc

He saw a gap in the market,
Knew he'd found a niche
Got the idea at Scarborough
From donkey rides on the beach.
Camel treks from Whitby
Going the scenic way
Following the coastal road
On to Robin Hood's Bay.

The very place where, if
Local legend had it right,
Mr Hood and the Vikings
Had a very dirty fight.
He advertised on the Internet
Pretty sure there would be
A plethora of investors
All as Foresighted as he.

He checked his e mail hourly,
Couldn't understand why
After forty three days
Not received a single reply.
He sent the camels back to Qatar
After a very drastic rethink
Then devoted his life to
The Pursuit of strong drink.

You can find him by Donny station
A sight to make you weep
As he rattles his tin can
Begging for his keep.
There's a moral to this story.
Always look for the hitch:
Though better than the alternative,
Life at times can be a bloody .

Brush Strokes

Brush strokes

The sky this afternoon had odd clouds
looked like icebergs floating on pink air

The seagulls took refuge on my terrace.

A grey wolf with a leg of lamb scratched
on the door, I let it in.
when preparing the meat, the wolf left
down the hall that was dimly lit

I asked no question

I remembered a Russian painter of black forests
and dark red sky I think he was foresighted
therefore, sent to a Gulag.

The sea in the bay is dark with white spots
the Russian has gone mad, was his name Kozlovski?

Back in the hall where the wolf had disappeared
left a pile of dung as proof, in case, I thought
 it was a dream.

Premium MemberReposing In the Natural

I will have no dirges sung at my funeral
No tear-jerking poems are to be recited,
Closed casket, I’m reposing in the natural.

Flowers I’ll appreciate your being liberal
You see, where I wound up, I’m delighted
I will have no dirges sung at my funeral.

I’m inclined to favor simple things doable
No limousine, no eternal gas flame ignited
Closed casket, I’m reposing in the natural.

I’m taking with me all my meager collateral,
If you planned to inherit don’t get excited
I will have no dirges sung at my funeral.

If you do not agree, please do not be critical
I have done my very best to be foresighted,
Closed casket, I’m reposing in the natural.

I suppose some will think me rather radical
But then, I’m inclined to be farsighted,
Closed casket, I’m reposing in the natural
I will have no dirges sung at my funeral.
