'Sweet are the uses
of adversity,
as the heart grows fonder
by diversity,'
as, hoping to raise a smile,
yet nutty as a fruitcake,
I spoke none too fast
at someone fun to poke
but slow on the uptake,
as tho' it takes quite a while,
he who laughs last,
finally gets the joke.

They say
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
But distance makes the heart forget
Distance drives a wedge between us
The miles, so many, makes me regret
They say
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
And what if it's too late
Our tenderness can't be stretched longer
Holding hands through a locked gate
Distance makes the heart grow fonder
What they meant is that our hearts will wander
It will all soon fade again
But will we forget?

I didn't go to school yesterday
Didn't feel like it
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, they say
Nobody was very fond
When I was absent from school with no good reason
Whoever "they" is...
You lied to me

Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Been said many many times
But I'm about as fond as I could be
Methinks I've proved it just fine
So you don't need any of that absence stuff
Do you catch my drift as they say
I'll permit it for maybe an hour or so
But that's it and certainly not a day
There's a very severe penalty you must pay
Should you exceed the allotted limit
A basic one hundred kisses and hugs
Then another twenty-five more per minute
That might seem like a real hefty fine
But it's there to show you how serious
It is to deprive this depraved old soul
He can wind up disoriented and delirious
Bottom line is, please handle me with care
My kind doesn't come along often
Treat me well and I'll be yours forever
And make your dear old heart soften

Looking at you, a vista of life
Seeing that smile relieves my strife
Reading your words, caring total
Like Autumn leaves, for you I fall
Then there's the smile of Golden gown
You can't swim, but for you I'd drown
For you give me hope, far out yonder
Look inside my heart, for you I'm fonder

From a broken Heart, does one recover:
To know you will always love the other?
When discarded like trash, far too late, alas!
You soon discover you long for that Lover?

ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER
I'll put my love to where you lay your eyes
when first they open to the morning skies,
out through the window, look and see,
the light of dawn brings love from me
that's how I'd have you greeted at sunrise.
I'll spread all of my love with morning dew
in hopes you take it where you're going to;
out through the window, look and see,
the morning dew is love from me
and loves the flowers like I'm loving you.
And then I'll put my love to your sunset
so ev'ry evening you will not forget;
out through the window, look and see,
the evening light brings love from me
as surely as it did the day we met.
At night I'll put my love into a star
so you will see my love though I am far
out through the window, look and see,
the star it shines with love from me
until the night I'll be there where you are.
