Flu Poems

Premium MemberWhen You Catch Cold

Sickness can turn your house into a personal jail
When friends come to visit you use anything as a veil
The moments you lose track of the day and time
If you need medicine you would spend every dime
To pass the time you watch old episodes on Netflix
Eating soup for dinner and inhaling vapors of vicks
It feels like

Premium MemberThe Clingy Flu

Oh, clingy flu, you wretched guest,
You’ve made my body your place of rest.
You crept in quickly, with sly intent,
Now I’m your prisoner, broken, bent.

You stick to me like stubborn glue,
One day you're mild, the next you're cruel.
You tease and toy, you come, you go,
A twisted lover, putting on a show.

A fever chills my weary frame,
You

Premium Memberflu like symptoms

yesterday I had flu-like symptoms
let the aches and pains consume me
slid into the misery with gusto
laid away the day in a recliner
sometimes alternating to the couch
I was not human, I was a sickly whickly
feeling sorry for myself, and yet,
resting profusely, odd for me

The bug is still here, that darn flu,
I thought I was over it, too.
	It suddenly came back
	and doubled its attack.
It had lasted one month, now two!

Premium MemberFeeling Rough

Like a dog
With a sandpaper throat
A cough like a bark
And the mood of a scrote

Just tossing and turning
With no comfortable spot
A nose like a tap
Simply dripping with snot

I sweat like a pig
Whatever that means
And I fart like I live
On a diet of beans

I don't mean to be crude
But I don't really care
Keep your sympathy close
With

Refurbished Simplicity

My bed drenched in a sweat only a fever dream can produce.
Clouds linger with a persistence that suggest trouble on the horizon.
Breeze blows in through the smallest crack of an open window with furious intentions.
What hell can compare to the pestilence of a seasonal flu whose determination trumps that of modern medicine?
If I could withstand

Premium MemberI Cannot Unwrite Anything

I cannot unwrite anything
Even if I erase this thing
The truth is out of the bottle
You can wage a war, a battle
You can fight all you want
Demonstrate, set up a tent
In the middle of the street
Shame comes after a defeat.

The genie is out of the bottle
The truth will set me free
You disagree, you’re angry
You can wage

Premium MemberOn Catching the Flu - Ifl

A thousand drummers playing drums
within my head,
like firecrackers bursting,
Rivers of (whatever) oozing out,
Trickling eyes, prickling nose,
Snee..achoo!..zing...and sneezing...and sneezing!
Every muscle aches,
Feeling fatigued and flushed,
Puffy eyes, stuffy nose,
Bouts of throaty cacophonies come out uninvoked ,
Body sore, mood sourer..
Even the bed seems uncomfortable,
Pain deludes, sleep eludes (snuffle!)

Premium MemberPoor Bunny Has the Flu

I have heard that bunny has the flu, I said.
Shall we send her a card? Flowers? Take soup?
She is in her element, was the reply.
Her husband is waiting on her hand and foot.

Taking her fresh radishes, carrots and lettuce.
She is the queen of her bedroom.
Everyone is doting on her and loving her.
The flu was the

Blue Flu

Bandicoot's bounce over my dead lead head.
Grim the outlook,
I am the grimness in my own storybook.
Moods are my mannerism's.
Gooey nose - a stonking flu
got me
now I mimic a monkey
with my bullhorn blowing.

When will the sun rise my eyes?
Blighted by sniffles, I dizzy and sway
to the 'Drug Mart', there to gag and goggle;
at so many meds

Stew With Nothing To Chew

Now, I take you for The Heady
With this Rather Rough and Ready:
Your dared cooking of A Dead Stew,
In it nothing to richly chew
And clearly no Lump of Jew’s Ewe...

A Thing you can’t try with A Jew,
Who’d go ahead to finish you
And worse not bury Wasted You
Under their Honoring Yew…

I just could you beat black

Premium MemberSo It Is the Flu Right

In 1973 I had flu-like symptoms and they were not getting any better.
My husband was insisting that I go to the doctor, but a doctor is expensive.
I tried to tough it out, but I finally broke down.
My husband came home for lunch from his grocery store job.
He said, “So it is the flu, right?”
I said
