There once was a guy with a trick:
the Florida Man limerick.
But when he got rowing,
the verses stopped flowing
or maybe ‘cuz his wife was sick.
It’s nothing but crickets of late,
and those that he musters ain’t great.
The hooks are sporadic
as fresh-water haddock;
perhaps he should try some new bait.

There was nobody who could come and weep at his graveside.
So we invited the misty mountain, the gusting moorland
And meandering little river where he had sat down and fished;
But, they were all previously engaged. still, we went anyway.
Someone had to lower the coffin...and songs refuse to sing
If nobody is there to listen.

A Little Fish
I opened a tin of sardines in olive oil for my evening meal.
Headless and nicely packed they were, except for one that
had a head-on was alive. I filled water in a jar.
Put the sardine in and fed it bread crumbs.
The headless sardines in the tin, so still and dead, I could
not eat them, put the tin back in the fridge.
My little sardine grew too big for the jar, and cats were circling
The house, looking for a way in, so I took it to the empty lake
that once had Bluegills fished to extinction,
set my sardine free to feed on rotten vegetation-
I don`t know how fish reproduce, but a year later, a school
of sardines were swimming around, except for one that
swam the opposite way- Bonanza! Grilled sardines and
The people rejoiced, thinking it was going to last forever,
And then there were none except one, my sardine in oil.
I went down to the lake when the sardine saw me
was glad, jumped up in the air, and was caught by a bird.
Empty lake, a dead eye in the wilderness, tells no story.

i searched every beautiful view to try and replace that feeling of looking into your eyes,
i fished every lake to try and reel in that fish again to help my hearts cries,
i listened to every song to try and match that melody of your voice,
i tried every food to try and fill that void you have left in me,
i drink this beer hoping to wash away this soul tie,
everyday without the memories have made me cry.
i read your words over and over wondering are they all a lie,
but you are wrapped around me choking like a thorny rose,
will i ever find all this again,
who knows.

Eva’s daily excitement was boundless
Her enthusiasm wore out her beaus.
At first they were bowled over with fascination
By the girl who bounded around the room laughing.
Eventually her mania either wore off or wore thin.
The beaus fell out of love with her, and she hunted them.
They began hiding in their mama’s houses, under beds.
Sometimes she fished them out, her lunacy always intact.

Held the lines.' I fished the place for 'all it was worth' and
Kept some millions.' And My yacht is still berthed..yes I'm
Still important..Got the re...I mean ear of carny.'Are you
Listening bartender.?? You know they say i'm barmy.' And
Look at my triumphs, i ensured there were tampons for
Men.! Yet if you ask me to describe one.?? One second i'll
Open it..Now which is the right end? Well its slim and long
Like a cotton cigar.' Yes I'm great on details! are you still

Denmark’s war
When the Germans occupied Denmark during World War 2 the old king was not dethroned
Every morning, he was seen riding in the park
Once, when his horse was spooked, by two German soldiers. he fell off his horse but got up
He dusted himself off, mounted his stead, rode on
The occupier thought his presence was good for morale, keeping the people passive
It was difficult to be a resistant fighter there was no place to hide after all Denmark is nothing more than a gigantic sandbank
The story of the king could have been written
by Hans Christian Andersen his work has been translated into my languages
We must not forget the physicist Niels Bohr who contributed to the understanding of nuclear power
There are many more names but this is not a list of great achievements
Denmark survived the war by not being overly aggressive making the enemy feel at ease
The farmers farmed, and fishermen fished so much that when peace, came they could help
Norway who faced starvation

My feet are stuck in the muck, cried Chuck the duck.
Sean the swan came to his rescue across the lawn,
Chuck, grab my wing, and we’ll swing into the spring!
Chuck used his beak, as chic feathers tickled his cheek,
They flew out of the muck, we’re now unstuck, Sean clucked.
Chuck felt happy, Sean felt scrappy as they fished for crappie.
Chuck felt struck with luck as he caught one, but it stuck,
Sean the swan, brave and brawn, caught the prawn.
Now a pack, enjoyed their snack, as they happily clacked!

When emerging out of the dark,
Inter-net ensured all the little fishes
The same unwillingness we share
To compare, poems fished the fairy
As it is searching for a rhythm
Dancing by the bright flare
Of the hearts capturing each other

God is the only one to fill us
even to the fullest that can be
for our father in heaven is so great
sovereign rule is in all his capacity
The disciples learned a great lesson
when they had fished and found zero
Jesus said cast your net once again
the haul was great made Jesus their hero
This haul was of a great quantity
one that only God alone could perform
showing His power to the fullest
for this Jesus would calm any storm
God is sovereign over every situation
whether we're empty or even full
for this sovereign Lord's true to His word
being presented as the living jewel
Our Lord Jesus is the saviour
who meets us wherever we are
empty or full He will truly provide
always sovereign as our shining star
(Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.)

I never stopped
Loving you father
I did everything
You asked me to
Every single day
You name it
I washed your people's foot
I fished together with you
On Lake Ontario
We got some fish
To feed you hungry people
It was a hard to clean the wish
Now we are going to barbecue the fish
My Father's people arrived
At the Lake Ontario
At noon
We gave their meal with a dinner roll
And some red wine to drink
We had finished eating at 2:00 pm
At 2:00 PM it started to rain
Very hard
We got caught in the rain
Also we got all wet
It was terrible
We never expect that we would had rain today
Yes it caught us by surprise

Mein geliebter GOTT
You gave us a wonderful world
For us to live
After you made heaven and earth
Also you had created us after you
Made heaven and earth
The earth you made it
Very well
With flowers by the ocean
Also by the ocean was plenty
Of trees
Some birds you made with your
Holy hands
They already fished their food
To eat
Now they are resting on the tree
Branches
And also singing for us
Their beautiful songs
I personally enjoy hearing the birds
Singing
Now the end of the day
Arrived fast
The sun went down
And we all saw the sunset
Now the night arrived
The birds went back flying
High in the sky
Branches of the trees
Also you made the beautiful ocean
With your holy hands

Too close to the edge, I was once
To rain and storm, I used to dance
I used to play with the sun and moon
Hoping my glory would come to soon
I chased my fate on deathly plains
Hoping that race would bring me gains
I travelled mountains, near and far
Trying to rope and touch the star
Too close to the edge, I almost fell
Believing that I owned a spell
A dared too much the scorching heat
Thinking that great was my heartbeat
I fished on sea on stormy night
Thinking that time was always right
Too close to edge, I dared the deep
That to now, hunts me in my sleep

In seventh grade I should have known better
Than to sign up for dissecting in this kind of weather
It was stormy and dark, the sky was gloom and doom.
In the lab, I fished my frog out of his box-like tom.
I poked him with my knife to make a little slice.
His eyes popped open, which was not incredibly nice.
He stuck out his tongue and ran around the table.
Whose frog is that? Asked the teacher, named Mable.
The chase was on. He was quicker than light.
I grabbed him again and tried to hold on tight.
I ended up letting him go, that Halloween day.
Frog who refused to die on a day that was gray.

Flying across the white expanse
a dull day becomes coloured
with the distant foggy
black marks of flight
opening wings wide
like a murder of beaks
thirsty for the blood
of the ink of others
on their blunt dry nibs,
it ruffles their feathers
colourful for a short while
between the lines
of a vacant pride, the
worthless worthiness
of removing veils
from other brides,
Faust flapping crows
disguised as angels
come calling like
unclaimed friends
from all quarters, then,
curious bluebirds
dissecting their purpose,
discover something
shining and beautiful
found in the dirt
between the cavities
in all their walls,
behind the ugliness,
jewels like Ariadne
(writer not myth)
possessing
the opposite title
held to the mirror -
"he ventures she wins",
are fished out
and discarded
in the swirling ice,
cubed in the depths
of a dark well
like unclaimed
diamonds,
solid gems, waiting
amidst all those other
melting treasures
to be, or not to be,
found
Candide Diderot. ‘24
