On manicured outfields
 seeded and sown,
the middle rolled and closely mown.
End to end,wicket to wicket
the languid tempo of village cricket.
In fields enclosed with sheep in flocks,
wooden pavilions &rickety score-box.
On the boundary rope,high ambitions
live in hope.
Runs come from cut and glide
as players flag in the fielding side.
The rivals taking guard after tea,a run a minute,
with inhibitions free.
Hit wicket,lbw and run-out
the wickets fell the fast bowler
ending the match with his second spell.

No Funeral For Dead Debtors

Sam had cleared his debt, when Death came calling
So, his funeral no barrier stalling.
Sam's interment is as good as the held:
Twenty-one gun salute; trees shall be felled!

I see Sam laughing, on the ground falling,
Sam as a ghost amused, even balling,
All round him women a sweet name calling;
In his honor many to go mailing!

In their Spirit World had begun building
After a chat with Senior Ghost Fielding,
Who had his own house started roofing
While on Earth on Building Jobs no goofing...

Still, a billionaire much power wielding
Sam and others, every morn, "Lord Fielding!"

Premium MemberCenturion

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, gathered in awe
to watch The Master and his name exhort,
and at the crease blazoned a century score
by the Lion slayer in fierce onslaught.
Cut, hook, pull, and drive - each ball thunderstruck
as I took my guard at the city end,
cover and square leg would scurry and duck
   when Excalibur blade threatened…Amen!
“Bravo centurion!” they’d shout, “more! more!”
dapper in his zinc and red bandana -
into Wisden and new Leopard folklore
“run-out” on that great urban savannah.
I should have stayed my crease - instead I ran -
but cometh the legend, cometh the man!

            Written: December 1996

Note: A centurion is a batsman who scores
a hundred runs in an innings. Alas I
was run-out for 111 that fateful day.

*The Leopards were my cricket team.
*The Lions were one of our fiercest rivals.
*Cover & square leg are fielding positions.
*Cut, hook, pull, drive, are cricket shots.
*Taking guard is marking your crease in
line with your stumps to protect them.
*Excalibur is a brand of cricket bat.
*Wisden is a prestigious cricket almanac.

Best and Worst Where I Beatles

Sometimes i while

Where i am from

10,000 potholes black tar burnt

Magic yellow strawberry lane

Fielding all of my yesterday's
upon field of penny jude fog hey

Whilst passing band the pepper
play

Coming together under lucy's
diamond sky walrus submarine

Abbey John moved to the
Big apple

Macca he formed wing's

Guru George became a Krishna

And Ringo went to Hollywood
to catch a falling star

4 Beatles born who wrote
about what life was like

Growing up in a town called livepool

That through which the magical
gift of music people still wish
to visit today

To see what lies behind and
inspired the mystery

Of such poetic imagery

Premium MemberViva El Presidente

Wide World of Sports televises a political assassination
from San Marcos, a tiny Latin American nation.
When the president dies, a dictator comes into position.
He takes complete control, and wants to subdue opposition.

Introducing Fielding Mellish: a product tester from New York.
This guy is sex-starved, and a completely nerdish dork.
Along comes a political activist who catches his fancy.
Wanting Fielding to sign her petition, her name is Nancy.
Mellish falls in love, and a relationship ensues.
Nancy changes her plans, and poor Fielding will lose.

Mellish decides to travel to that Latin American country.
There will be so many ridiculous situations we will see.
Are you curious to learn how this story will turn out?
Watch the video. You will find it entertaining without a doubt.

Based on the 1971 film "Bananas" starring Woody Allen

Premium MemberJt Will Be Back

To Phillies fans, there is great news as of late.
This season, J. T. Realmuto will be back behind the plate.
Many consider him the best catcher in baseball.
For both hitting and fielding, this man can do it all.
Of course, his new contract called for more money.
You have to pay some more if you want quality.
In professional sports, there is little room for parsimony.

Premium MemberThe Sunrise Song

"I'm very happy being me, although sometimes I'd love to be a bird so
that I could fly." - Joy Fielding

Furrowing the crisp layers of thin air
flies the migratory songbird of charm,
the cheerful Robin on the frilled wings
soars to the fringe of clouds in the sky.

The bird of transparent crystal morning
tweeters the tune of sunburst horizon,
in the secrecy of its silky scarlet breast
pulsates the cadence of avian delight.

Over thrush wrapped in the silence of dawn
it sings to the melody of the nascent sunrays,
the welcome carol for the ascent of a new day,
in north wind the enchanting notes drift away.

While on smoky sky the storm clouds gather
little Robin sings on bough of wind-swept tree,
when the rainbow arc spans the drenched sky
it flutters with the rhythm of the celestial hues.

Outside my window on the green visage
the red bird perched on the lofty branch
sings the sunrise song that sails me by,
in the new unfurling sky it’s time to fly.

Never Quit Or Are Unyielding

Unyielding is characterized by firmness
and a lack of softness or flexibility.
Not giving in.

Never Quit Or Are Unyielding

Another question we had started fielding;
If they will never quit or are unyielding,
Mind wonder;
Spell under;
Could be a character that is unwielding.

Madiba

"Madiba"
The currents keep up sparking up and down
Such elegance, your life had more scenes than an epic flick
Defined humanity you did, even in death you deserve a crown
Singlehandedly you kept the white fleas a bay, fielding stick
Madiba, the Great artist, thou painted red the entire earthly town
Effortlessly you curtailed the beast, how effortless is your skill!
Diamonds appeareth me in flames, wildflowers in dinner gowns
Human race you served, and empty African baskets you did fill
Goodwill you preached, you make the rest look like clowns
The sun and stars smile admirably to this piece! Oh how slick
95 long fruitful moments, bewildering all from North to South
Black Moses, thou granted the African race it's holy seal
From the suburbs of Soweto to the South of Pretoria
All and sundry join the angels as we sing "The Gloria

Slatted Salted Roof

Fibreglass fibre optics frame fielding farmers. Fielding farmers are not playing rounders today. They are pushing little feet into wellington boots then chasing a lone sheep whilst riding on a two ton heifer who wears a saddle and a harness with pride. Oh dutiful tulip your lips of hues are chewing the dews. Like a wheel arch covers in rain spat up from puddled ground. Puzzling puzzles protrude profusely. And passions are pausing players in a table whirl of dingbats' cafe. Number eleven is a fine wine of a diplomat but diplomats are neither delivery drivers notes nor are they noted diplomatic demonstrators demonstrating delivered deletions. Combat no cereal cake in a square cup of milk. For shaking around and around is akin to lying down on a bed of spiked cactus. Z Categorical cat cushions Z Meteorological Z at forty nine baked buns to seven bundles of bacon beaks. X

A Cosmological Fielding Clap X

Chink chink chinking. Never chunky. Such exquisite curvature of a smiling glass. Legs are an undefeated objective of a marrow. And when the spider sings one must hold up a garden rake. Taking a pillar to a nightclub is very enjoyable as one can swing fart and frantically move one's arms for heathen heads can be avoided by stone carvings. Paint then a tree on a hill with ten daisies, an iron, and of course the obligatory pixie pixelated castle. In a bed. In an office. At an interview. Sing sing sing. Bread is a hat basket. And a deity is never a middle backed man eating many plates of bacon and fries. So now rise to the nights of the twelve. Wisdom in the blades shine only in green. Bringing baking bothering booming bookings because beforehand beforetime bedtime xxxx geraniums on a swing. In dresses. *** suits unsuitable undone gone *** capers clapping *** spinning spinners still xxxx woohoo xxxx gestational *** ha ha ha *** woodlands *** rapidisation *** snouts *** cosmological xxxx hahahaha xzx. 93% of an acorn bush. Rain Is For Others

Rain Is For Others

The village green
And its linen fellows

Bask in summer's
Dappled yellows,

Bowling leather
Onto linseed willows

Beneath the fluffy
Cotton pillows.

Children playing
Shooting peas,

Stinging faces
And grazing knees,

Gran and grandad
Sip their teas

On chequered blankets
Under trees.

Upon a sudden
Skies grow dark,

People shelter
And dogs bark,

The darting sparrow,
The silent lark

Scatter raindrops
On a sodden park.

Ominous rumbles
A flash of light,

The tempest's fury
With all its might,

Causes lovers
To cuss and fight,

To part as strangers
Before the night.

Spectating sisters
Watch fielding brothers,

As doting fathers
Kiss expectant mothers,

Folding neatly
Their mackintosh covers

And all agreeing
That rain is for others.
