Metaphor and simile have been with the human race for thousands of years. This is my English translation of an excerpt from an ancient Egyptian poem estimated to be around 4,000 years old:
Excerpt from "Dialogue of a Misanthrope with his Soul"
(ancient Egyptian poem circa 2000 BC)
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
Death lies before me:
like a sick man’s recovery,
like entering a garden after an interminable illness.
Death lies before me:
like the fragrance of myrrh,
like sitting beneath a billowing sail with a favorable wind.
Death lies before me:
like swimming in the course of a stream,
like a man’s return from the slave-galley to freedom.
Death lies before me:
like the sky when it clears,
like a man's longing to see his home after countless years of captivity.

Hit them where it hurts
President Trump said “Ukraine has no cards to play to end war with Russia”. Yet deep inside Russia, Ukraine masterfully destroys over 40 warplanes that could carry nuclear weapons, using smuggled drones; simultaneously attacks multiple air fields. Russia loses an estimated $7,000,000,000 dollars in one day. This is the one for the history books
It’s what you call “the art of war”
Unseen, unheard, not done before
Hit in the balls, the chin and mug
Ukraine plants hurtful wartime slug
The “Trojan Horse” of modern times
Payback for vicious bloody crimes
Can’t puff your cheeks, the air’s gone
Deprives the evil of its brawn
No one can tell them what to do
Defeating goons is peace, that’s true
As heavy blow, as ever been
Support the noble fight, to win
Burned planes launched heaviest attacks
Could threaten world with N-word axe
And now they’re gone, ain’t that a shame?
We watch. Hey, “Slava to Ukraine”!

Looking right to the side,
what will it do than leave my mind?
I have guessed enough,
measured rough,
estimated tough,
loved through, got through hearts and
Stabbed them
One,
Twice
Times
Why I am wondering?!
That it will coming to haunt me?!
That it is following,
I feel it in my spine,
It's not a feeling, it is a life I have to live with.
Have I even decided to live now?
Was I out here to understand?
I do not think so,
You never thouhgt so,
I mean, you never answered.
Still when I see you,
I can not look at you it makes me throw myself out the window, and still every once I see you with her I stumble.
I was shocked when I still could smile and laugh,
Even though,
You habe said so bad things till I cried myself,
To sleep,
To school,
To wakening up.
To sickening.
To wanting to write,
Ouch.

At the foot of Sinai Israel encamped
as one man with one heart
A people once divided, revamped and unified…
Later on, to build a Tabernacle to the Lord
each man contributing what he could afford
600,000 individuals, serving together the One they adored
________________________________________________
The actual count was 603,550 men over the age of twenty.
Including women and children brings the estimated size
of Israel's population at Sinai to about three million.

The Russo Ukranian War dates back to 2014, with the invasion of the Crimean peninsula and the Donbas War
which was fought by Pro Russian separatists in the eastern half of Ukraine.
This has been going on for a long time, even before Russia launched it's 2022 offensive on Ukraine, when everyone in the US began to show it's Pro Ukrainian support.
Putin has denied that The Ukraine was ever it's own
country. He has said that the land is not theirs, but was a part of Russia that was given away by Khrushchev and Lenin. It was a part of Russia, in the 18th century, also referred to as in Russian "New Russia".
This Ultranationalism that Russia exercises today
is not good for the future, it's been estimated that
hundreds of thousands have died in this bloody
conquest for land. I don't know if it will end anytime
soon. I doubt it. I don't think a leader like Putin would
do such a thing, seeing how he has turned the Russian Presidency into something like a dictatorship.
Look how he has kept his power and then you will
realize that this war won't be the last of him.

An estimated 75,000 immigrants live in Los Angeles,
All transplants from Mexico,
No, they’re not who you think.
They stand in rows along the famous LA streets,
A promotional idea of real estate developers.
No more native than the Dodgers baseball team.
The idea came from the French Riviera
Where these palm trees were also transplanted
And intended to portray glitz and glamour.
Symbols of the “City of Angels”,
You will see them in many films shot there
By directors, actors, and studio executives.
Many of them were immigrants too.

So quickly, everything changed
Nothing feels the same
Our creation has been transformed
As nature is now different
Rivers are tainted with toxic rainbows
Skies are empty of flying birds
Toxic chemicals traveled miles across borders
An estimated 43,700 animals are dead
All in 5 miles from the chemical burn site
Why, oh why, didn't they cool the train
And transfer these harmful chemicals?
Why did they rush to burn the chemicals?
Turned into a chemical weapon to ruin lives?
Land is tainted, people are sick, lthe environment is changed!
This will last for years to come , years to see!
So much will keep on changing through seasons
It is in the soil and tests prove the acid rain
God's precious creation has now been attacked
What we will witness that will continue to change?
Cruelty rules, pain spreads for miles, stealing smiles!

After they have taken
everything you still have
a stray, unowned patch of sunlight
finding its way in and spending
a little of its time keeping
you company, playing around
your feet.
The things they discarded
on their way out have already
broken into bloom
and even the empty spaces
have become polished pools
waiting for the moon to bathe
its image in tonight.
But don't get too smug.
Tomorrow they'll be back
with a bill for services
rendered by the sun and moon.
Then, just when you think
that will be the last transaction,
they will issue you a bill
for each thought you have,
calculated on gestation time
and its estimated weight.
There will be no escape
other than to become a ghost
incapable of thought,
twitching inside one of their
computers, lost forever
between one and nought.

The peaceful quiet of the realm was still.
We had reached the summit of the hill.
The sun beating down on us in all its bright,
Adepts were relieved under the cloak of midnight.
We toured lush meadows and valleys.
Explore all the scenic canyons and hilly alleys.
Watch your horn and do what you wish.
Fairy butterflies are flying in the dawn swish.
Wandering all over, scattering magic dust.
Transformed into a flock of butterflies.
Glide the graceful silk gossamer flies.
Danced around the flowers in the gust.
Various shades of all the colors of the rainbow
Yellow, plum, green, titian, and blue.
I consider them as little creations of God, too.
All those features are aesthetic in their glow.
When I grasp myself in the mirror, I am shocked.
However, this blunt decay is unlocked.
an estimated stream of wisdom or abundance.
Unconsciously, resolve personal reluctance
First, it was fun to joke around and earn hope.
Remember the plans we made together?
Laugh off anything that could lead to a tether.
disappointed with the misplaced scope.

His knowledge was his untapped wellspring,
After 93 years of learning anew;
He valued knowing something about everything,
From construction & farming, to baseball & screws.
Early in life, a dairy farm taught him,
To think on his feet, with vast common sense;
Learning math at the sawmill, he estimated lumber,
And rebuilt old motors, appliances & fences.
For years he delivered, automobile parts,
To Tar Heel cities & Outer Banks towns;
Till one day, Wayne County rewarded his smarts,
With leadership to run, their buildings and grounds.
A Lion's Club/Odd Fellow—active for decades,
Making differences in the lives of many;
A loyal church member, a Jack of all trades,
Directing great efforts, that helped countless plenty!
Later in life, he started Smith’s Crafts,
With Logs that told Weather--Cow Clocks that told time;
Wrote a book on a bell, he loved to autograph,
Reading local history aloud, literary passion sublime!
His legacy is people, warm and loving,
Celebrating them in visits near and far;
Shelton Eugene Smith, Sr. a one-of-a-kind,
Honored by many, remembered by all!

On the 16th of September, Mahsa Amini 22 was arrested by the so called morality police in Iran, because some of her hair was showing from beneath her head scarf
3 days later she died in an Iranian hospital, after been beaten over the head with batons, whilst in morality police custody
A morality police spokesman denied responsibility, but said they must enforce this religious law because if women do not dress properly, then men could get provoked and harm them,
Women in Iran, and all over the world are now protesting against her murder, some hacking off their own hair, and refusing to wear head scarves.
An estimated 185 people women included, have died in Iran since the protests began after Mahsa’s death.
