Premium MemberLove's Blind Eye

Love always thinks it's chosen well,
Discerns no qualities to criticize.
In the loved one all is loveable,
And defects become virtues in a lover's eyes.
To speak, or write, or sing of love,
A lover needs no dictionary.
The words come tripping off the tongue,
For love provides its own vocabulary:
A girl who's pale is jasmine white,
And her purity is felt;
If swarthy, she's a simmering brunette;
One who's wafer-thin, with skin stretched tight,
Is willowy and svelte;
A chubby one's a sugar plum, a pet;
A sloppy and untidy girl's a wild and carefree soul;
On a giantess bestow a goddess air;
A small girl might be a mignonette, button cute, a doll;
A vain girl's assumed dignity gives her charms beyond compare;
Shy girls are smart;
Dull ones simple and sweet;
A chatterbox, engagingly bright;
The silent one's dark and mysteriously deep,
Affected, maybe,
But love makes that all right.
So a truly smitten lover loves all the faults of his beloved,
And ever has it been thus since "the Fall".
Whom your heart says love, you love her,
Not in fits and starts, or selected parts,
But farts…
And warts…
And all.

NOTE:THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE using spaces&breaks without grammatical symbols ,the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and responds thus making this enigmatic form a two way interplay & interpretatIon unique to the moment& changing according to mood is inherently variable.

Premium MemberWinter Snow Buntings

Virgin crystal flakes lucent feature,
Journey downwards from heaven,
Falling round shimmering nature.
Limbs Stretch High. A numbing breath driven,
Winter wet embrace forgiven.

First Winter of favorite song,
The early snow buntings arrived
Chirping engagingly along
Plaintive worlds soul better contrived
With feathers windswept life revived

Their wings meet the air with a force
Gentle uplifting wind-caught snow
Swift rise and fall, guided trace course
So small adrift the wind doth blow
Cold winter snow drape out below

Morning Mystic

Morning Mystic

Mysticism is not for me,
I know that wind is blowing free,
Nor does it speak engagingly of
Memories of another time.

I read my book, yet I feel a presence,
What is this touching – barely brushing?
The atmosphere is a tricking morning.
Are you really there – oh, no you couldn’t be.

I return to my book, yet your presence remains,.
Do I hear a whisper, feel a touch, are you free,
Oh, No! You could not be, you are not free
To brush, to whisper, to curl around another memory,

Oh, no, mysticism is not for me,
A presence wanting attention,
A voice floating, bothering like an insect,
I know mysticism is not for me.

Premium MemberDancing

To jitterbug and jive, perhaps to feel alive;
Dreaming that I too could dance as well as you;
Strutting to a tango in Chichicastenango
Touring a veranda edged with jacaranda.
Four eyes eagerly dancing; engagingly entrancing
Above paired swaying hips and rippling tender lips.
When the musical combo broke into a mambo
Our hearts began drumming to a secret thrumming.
We did a conch horn conga on the isle of Rarotonga
Balalaika strumming, we tried romancing as we were sabre dancing
I waltzed you like a rube along the Blue Danube
And when we danced the line, I kicked my boots up just fine.
But when I awoke, I knew my dancing was a joke;
Just a stutter stepper or a sneezer inhaling pepper.

Leo, An Astrology Acrostic

Leo, an Astrology Acrostic
    by Amy Swanson

Loyal friend who'll laugh with you, the sun rules their playful heart;
Engagingly eclectic, they'll give all they have; forgive them if they seem a little bossy.
Outgoing with majestic charm, they'll walk with you until the very end.

*Inspired by Danielle White's astrology acrostic contest* -- I had to get in on the fun! :)

Familiar Poesy

I was quiescent and reposing on a wooden chair

to a faraway distance the vista seemed nothing.

I was engrossedly thoughtful in an empty stare;

In this somber fixation i did not sound maudlin.

In the surrounding, in a room, there was naught to care

even how vociferous the unaffecting din.

I was vacant without a frown or grin.

Then, an astonishment by an abrupt interruption

awakened me chop-chop from the pensive exertion.

An instinctively soft guffaw was my reaction

and an immediate beam marked down my emotion.

From a study to a stir was the alteration;

I uttered a word or two in continuation.

It was a spectacle of fruition.

Sometimes it is diverting to father relation

of familiar episodes in consecution;

Even how minute is their banausic condition.

It can be reported engagingly in a verse

with welcome alternate rhyming association

and with no contemplation to secure confusion

so as any sage mortal can immerse.

In Sign Language

In sign language, with your hands, tell me to sleep
to close off the world and its burden to keep
to blow my anxiety through bubble wands soapy
and pillow my tears with agreeable dreams
In sign language, with your hands, tell me I'm beautiful
I sweep through the room with a grace that comes naturally
I look like the vision of all that you love
Your heart matches mine, in it's rhythm, it seems
In sign language, with your hands, tell me you wonder
You open all windows at the moment of thunder
You live on the edge of the seat of your dreams
and walk as the wisest ones walk
In sign language, with your hands, tell me you're mine
while we break all the clocks and swell oceans with time
while the tides all turn backward and threaten to stop
in a whisper of hands we engagingly talk
In sign language, with your kiss, hold me, my soul
drown out the quiet with this moment we stole
Drown out the torture of my voice in my mind
Kiss me and wake up my senses,

for in sign language, I've got no defenses...
