In Sign Language
In sign language, with your hands, tell me to sleep
to close off the world and its burden to keep
to blow my anxiety through bubble wands soapy
and pillow my tears with agreeable dreams
In sign language, with your hands, tell me I'm beautiful
I sweep through the room with a grace that comes naturally
I look like the vision of all that you love
Your heart matches mine, in it's rhythm, it seems
In sign language, with your hands, tell me you wonder
You open all windows at the moment of thunder
You live on the edge of the seat of your dreams
and walk as the wisest ones walk
In sign language, with your hands, tell me you're mine
while we break all the clocks and swell oceans with time
while the tides all turn backward and threaten to stop
in a whisper of hands we engagingly talk
In sign language, with your kiss, hold me, my soul
drown out the quiet with this moment we stole
Drown out the torture of my voice in my mind
Kiss me and wake up my senses,
for in sign language, I've got no defenses...
