Distended Poems

Premium MemberA Game Of Telephone

Let's play a game of telephone...

crepitant tongues converse

overly dramatic tendencies

incoherently concrete

awakening preoccupation

a train flying off the tracks

chaotic clumps crust up

dissonance distended

indecorous reception

viral instigator

I dont want to sift

sterilize rhetoric

abrasive to the ear.

A game of telephone...let's play.

chasing you
I left me
like I do
when I'm chasing a
hungry ghost

scrawny
with a distended belly
that's never full
however much
it devousr

nothing outside
fills what's empty
 inside
longer than
the dopamine rush
it neglect itself
to sustain

as empty as
the bars I haunted
before you
these aren't the poems
I want to write

I long to be
alone tonight
with the stars
the moon
and the wind
wafting down
from a snow cap

smoke swirling up
like a cat's tail
flicking smoldering embers
sparking the night
with fire flies

snap crackle pop

I'm free (again)
from the trance
of the hungry ghost
I'm content
with the one
I most
need to know

Premium MemberWhen Scant Suffices

glut and excess entices gluttony and greed
going beyond enough,
beyond the ample sufficiency
is to become stuffed stupid,
bloated to distended, chubby fat
when scant suffices
our needs are few,
we savor every morsel and crumb
we cherish simplicity
the joy of each moment ticked
the joy of the doing, not the done
we cherish every
tiny loving touch, brush and blush,
every heartfelt phrase,
every wink or two eye glints
we relish every smile as kiss
every eye-to-eye contact an embrace
When scant suffices
staying hungry keeps the thirst for more fresh
there's such elegance in simplicity
such grace in humility's embrace
When scant suffices
there's sufficiency of self
leaving the cup half-full, frugal
for a little more to come,
besides.

Harken! blasts of thunder
pressurised magma sears
Pyroclastic hearts collapse
a spanner jams the gears

Distended fiery fissures
augur unquantified fears
Cataclysms bring rupture
down path’s not very clear

Aneurysms bursting veins
popped drums burning ears
Brain function touch and go
haemorrhage out red tears

Earth ripping itself asunder
black raw ground appears
Man plugs his inner wounds
holding on to love so dear

Premium MemberFool, Not King

Ha! Please take down
The eyesore
You've mounted atop your head.
You wonder why
It feels much too heavy.
Here's the unvarnished truth.
Because, well, because
One cannot be
A fool
And a king
Simultaneously
Your counterfeit diadems
Hold no weight, or value.
They wouldn't shine beneath
A plethora of suns.
Spare yourself
The world's ridicule.
To rule an empire
Unchallenged,
To someday sit
On a throne, wearing
The real McCoy
To travel so much as
Halfway
The long glory road
To acquire the royal appellation
And prestige you covet,
For starters, deep-six
Your distended ego
And delusions of grandeur

Experiment With Boiling Water

EXPERIMENT WITH BOILING WATER

Let your dubious interest in science not diminish;
Just watch the water-boil process from start to finish.
Gas flame is lit and well-adjusted:
As a scientist you're hot as mustard.
See the condensation on glass above water level ?
Soon you’ll have covered base of glass kettle
With the small bubbles of trapped steam you distended.
They became lines of moving bubbles and ascended
Like watery snakes looking for their surface goal
And hissing as they failed to find it in shoals.
Now they’ll rise ever more frequently, ever faster -
The rate is chosen by the experiment master.
The slight hisses become rumbles
Kettle rattle loudens as your gas flame tumbles.
Space above water level fills with steam -
The boiling makes scientist-eyes gleam.
A whistle treble starts to tremble
Then, gaining courage, it will soon resemble
The olden-days police summons pitch
Of ultra-high G or A-sharp, very rich.
I should stop now before I have trouble with the law
Of physics – for the water boiled away as we saw:
And the kettle dried out.
The experiment was over, we had left no doubt.

Inklings

your ink
scripted so seductively
succumbs me

a statue of hieroglyphs
meticulous in manner
meandering
amid lasting memories
bleeding into my distended veins

you're a word of wisdom
imbibing
of my essence
with lips of long
as night stars hold view

shadows will awaken
with her solemn kiss
to the morn
begetting the radiance
beaming inside

Lily By the Stem

Lily, light and frilly,
On the may day break;
She mounts upon the hill
Engulfed by the morning dew,
In gaeity she blossoms wide and fair,
Beset upon the breast,
Of yellow, green distended bed.

Oscillating with the glorious wind,
Pleased to be a fleeting flower;
Neither deploring nor resenting,
It's petite existence,
Coming to approbate, life is short but fair,
Gradient, soft and delicate,
A momentary dream in tune.

Oxygen

Two joined elements swirl around
Into its lungs with wisp of sound
Turning its blood from blue to red
Preserving life as cells are sped

And though not regnant is the right
Concentration to give it flight
From inertness so its mind
Can pursue and happiness find

If not enough then judgments slow
And other gasses overflow
Causing bones and muscles to shout
Till its progress quickly flames out

But if too much its lungs grow weak
Slowing its independence streak
Making the tissues distended
Weight that was never intended

Breathe just enough of life’s tonic
To perfuse a fit republic
Ever poor so it can’t ruin us
Ever meek so it won’t rule us

Who Stole the Strawberries

Trust is such a deliciously sweet thing
				     Who
			     stole
		       the
strawberries?
Make the yellow-bellied canary sing

Confidence lost in an abandoned mind
Smoky sulfur
and silica methane ...
uptake of noxious fumes to the brain

Pinning blame on the innocent
is such a wickedly gossip thing
				     Who
			     stole
		       the
strawberries?
Make the paid parrots walk the plank

Over the edge,
submersive feeling of a shark bite
Band of brotherly fear: pie-hole footsteps Caine a-coming,
like the razor slice of a sharp knife

A taste for deceit is an acquired appetite;
	such a distended, gluttonous thing
				     Who
			     stole
		       the
strawberries?
Loyalty fled, as the cannons started firing

Resentment turned inward,
be a busted gut full of bellyaching —
Sunken boatload of wretched, scurvy self-loathing
Someone coveted the strawberries ...
perhaps it was a fickle foe pretend friend

Check the fingers for the evidence
that is scarlet proof crimson staining
Drink an ask flagon of cherry whine
				     Who
			     stole
		       the
strawberries?
Will be mutineer revealed in due time

The Moment Demands

In a distended reality
  the Buddhists were right,
  but pointed they were wrong

A metaphor chosen
  to soothe and delight,
but our choices a different song

Transcendent revelation
  a spiritual ideal,
as today takes its pound of flesh

The totality of being
  the noblest of causes
—when the moment demands no less
