Premium Member Vermeer Never Disappoints

Vermeer never disappoints, capturing people muted in shadows
Officer and laughing girl is a weird name for this one
I have seen many laughing people, she barely smiles
But who am I to argue with the artist who named the piece?

The officer is dressed brilliantly in brighter colors than usual
Vermeer’s paintings are almost always done in anything but red
The hat is as impressive as the woman’s bonnet is Dutch dull.
The fascination for me in this piece is the window and the map.

The window is a masterpiece, I cannot fathom recreating it.
The map holds my attention due to the immaculate details of it.
Vermeer knew what he was doing; his strokes are exquisitely done.
It seems odd the girl is sitting rather than working; quite uncommon.

Premium Member God Never Disappoints

God makes Himself known in this morning’s neon sky.
His pops of blue amid painted amber clouds inspire hope.
I stare at as he rearranges the sky into newer creations.
There is a lamb, she soon floats into a dragon’s mouth.
Where is the lion? I wonder. I keep staring. Feeling reflective.
The sky is nurturing me, she inspires hope and peace.
I turn to go to the barn and there is the lion, peeking at me.
I smile and say “Thank you, God”. He never disappoints.

Premium Member When Love Disappoints

When love disappoints, does it mean that you're failure?
I've found more than once I just needed retraining!
Your heart feels a chill? Must their love be a surfeit
Does failure seem real though true friendship survives it?
Is sunlight a failure whose warmth brings us raining?
You paint lover's petals, or offer love tenure?

How often do love's expectations raise voices?
Love tied to a leash or roam free with some limits?
Is trust part of love, or do you have a rulebook?
Your lover's eyes found you (but now denied fond look)?
Temptation must die! Or your self-esteem plummets?
Sure love's what you want? Then accept your love's choices.

There's freedom in love if you trust you are worthy
And though you aren't perfect, wear flaws in the open.
No combover options required to feel sexy,
No carrying anger that fuels apoplexy,
Gift freedom for love to be love! Things will happen!
Your progeny bless you for making life easy!

Wrathful March Disappoints Everyone

I expected a day of sunshine,
sit outside and sip some wine;
February gave us some warm days,
we thought spring wouldn't have come for a while...
the bakery below has the scent of bread that delights,
the laundry next door smells like waving clothes on lines!

Wrathful March disappoints everyone, it's a month so insane;
the saddened kids wanted tons of fluffy snow, not rain or hail;
the snowman's nose would have had a carrot dropped by a quail,
two big blueberries for his small eyes soon to be eaten by ravens,
two small slices of red watermelon for his frozen and pinkish lips...
hooray! they'd have been ready to pull him down the steep lane!

Premium Member Love Disappoints, Hope Lives

When I was innocent I dreamt of love,
a kind of love most worthy of virgins--
for whom a simple kiss admits no sins
or shame, or betrays the appearance of
disgrace; But I, blessed not as from above
by heaven or by God, quit, as life wins;
losing all hope and faith till my head spins
with the winds of lust that blew the white dove
of my innocence away. Then a whore
and **** took away my virginity;
she then revealed that there were fifty more
besides me, I recall most bitterly.
      But so long as there is breath and hope lives,
      love will come; and when it comes, it forgives.
