Defining Who You Are

The overcoming of obstacle
Is defining of who yourself are
It's a symbol of courage and firmness
This is the quotient of dividend and divisor
The product of multiplicant and multiplier
The sunny after the rain
The peace after the storm
The medal of valor after the war torn
The graduation of all the studies
The invention of miticuluos innovation
And the beacon of all hopes and aspirations.

Freedom in my eye

I always wanted to be free
I always wanted to be me
I always wanted to look past the haze and confusion so I could see what I need to see.
I never want  to be tame
I never want to stay the same
I never want to be hindered and fused, destined not to choose weather I need to or am able to change .

  Basketball's considered a 'contact sport'
Football is a 'sport of collision'

Defining a Poet Laureate

In words that dance, a poet's grace,
A laureate's soul finds its embrace.
With verses vivid, tales unfurled,
They paint emotions, a world advanced.

Their quill, a wand of rhythmic might,
Crafts symphonies in darkest night.
From heart to ink, the journey's grand,
They wield a pen as magic wand.

They capture dreams in vivid hue,
Reflecting life in every view.
With language as their chosen art,
They touch the core of every heart.

A laureate's essence, pure and deep,
In every line, their secrets keep.
Through verses bold, their voices soar,
A legacy that time adores.

The Coming of Summer The Fear of Fall
David J Walker

Half-past every euphemism defining
The truthfulness of youthful youth
		or
The youthfulness of truthful truth

Crumbling behind the chime of clocks
And locks of hair lopped off along the way

Today is
	Today is
Today

Listen for the pitter-patter of
Little feet

Catching up
Spinning calendars

Faster
	Faster

Summer is calling
	A fearful Fall
Is all
one can count on

Defining Poetry

Words trapped within the mind,
sounds traveling through time,
placed upon parchment with rhyme,
entering each soul sublime.

None perfect until it hits the ear,
then harmony becomes near,
relaxing thought’s without fear,
putting love into one who is dear.

Deep and light with delight
turning on your inter light
capturing other souls out of sight
tantalizing the mind at night

Becoming one of two with one word
encapsulating what was heard,
each reading as a puzzling crossword
blending together word by word.

Premium MemberDefining Vs Non-Defining

To use “that” or substitute “which”
Knowing this would make me quite rich
Wrong words are a glitch
That we hate and do switch
Since an editor’s ire is a b*tch

Author's note: I have been writing technical material for the past year, which has taken all my creative energy. I have missed many of the wonderful poets who live here. The good news is that the people I work for are beginning to embrace database publishing.

We have all the paragraphs in one table, and "assemble" the paragraphs into documents using another table by importing record keys. Most people are not interested in this kind of thing, however, it could save us all a lot of money and lead to better technical publications from my employer.

So, the site has some filtering for political correctness. At first, I thought I had left a word off, but alas, no. Is a little humor that bad?

Premium MemberDefining Love's Essence

All of Man's
philosophy-literature and
poetry
has failed to define love

but

a single act of sacrifice
succeeded in designating its
essence
without ever uttering a single
word! *

Defining Moment

i brushed the crumbs
from out my beard
left over breakfast
but now way passed
brunch so to be
saved for lunch

i saw she had pieces
in her braces though
she knew there
wasn't much
she could
do

so we talked
and chewed
the cud cause
cuz that's
what one
does

buddie buddie
but not just
any body
gotta be
a buddy
body

she was that way
when we raided
the mini bar at
hotel costs for
cheap beer
over cost

but no overcast
conversationalists
just open another
bag of those
not so real
potatochips

i want to do it
again like with
my friend and
do it again like
back then and
do it again like

it
never
ended

again

Premium MemberMy Defining Red-Letter Day

Christ's breath,
written in red;
and read from the bible,
was my great defining moment.
My red letter day, crossroad, and challenge,
so, Christmas is red important ;
the birth of God's own son,
be still and read;
Christ's breath.
