If you’re a carpenter,
You can fix it with a hammer and nail
If you’re a captain,
You can get there with a crew and a sail
If you’re the warden,
You can lock it up inside of a jail
Everybody got a solution
Nobody possibly wrong
I’d love to jump to a conclusion
But the distance is too damn long
If you’re an analyst,
You can lay it down on your couch
If you’re an activist,
You need only march and shout
If you’re an anarchist,
Go on and burn the city down
Everybody got a solution...
Biased perspectives --
Hidden objectives --
Static images in a prime lens
Our various stances
Across the same plane
Decide how each ray of light bends
If you’re a scientist,
You can theorize and postulate;
If a Creationist,
We been kicked outta the garden by fate
A sado-masochist?
Should be no problem keeping a date
I’m no romanticist --
I’m too old to stay up this late
Everybody see the solution
Nobody possibly wrong
I’d love to jump to a conclusion
But the distance is too damn long

Press your eyes with
The strength of the
Index and the ring finger.
What do you see?
See the shifting orbs of luminescent aqua,
Starry-eyed fireflies wafting in a
majestic, arrested stasis.
See the fabled constellations
Form and appear, illuminating
The dark void. They tell
Stories of primitive times,
Clinking and clunking clubs
Banging on the dusty ground
While newly-minted fire crackles,
Bursting with the galvanizing spirit
Of God’s creationist firepower.
See the subdued hues ooze freely,
Seeping into each other to form
Fractious fractals, each corner and
Angle forming the triangular wings
Of angels singing the songs of
Heavenly peace and joyful sublime.
Take your index and ring finger off your
Eyes. What do you see?
See a darkened world seemingly dejected,
But with glinting color orbs all around,
Threatening to burst through the sun-kissed
Meridians, lingering in purgatory.
One only needs the strength to find them.

Life can be strange indeed. I, for instance wear many hats. I am a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Christian, not a Christian, a musician, a poet, an Intra faith proponent, an artist, a worship leader, a sinner, a naturalist, an evolutionist, a skeptic, a scientist, a creationist.......... etc....... .Generally, I question everything, and I happen to think that that is healthy. So, for instance, to make my point here, when I am a poet and I wish to express a concept or a string of thoughts, I can at times feel restricted by say, the Christian hat, or the scientist hat. It should, however not be that way. I should be free to express myself without constraint, should feel free, because we have freedom of speech, or do we? Do you get what I am getting at here? Any comments would be appreciated.
To add something else here, some time ago now, I was reading about Zen Buddhism, and I liked what I was reading and could identify with it. However, because in my circle of friends and acquaintances I am generally known as a Christian, I was restricted in expressing my joy and excitement about what I was reading about.

You took her
From all of us
You got the blame
You never understood us
You ignored us
She loved you
She then ignored us too
You created a sort of destruction
In the hearts of us
Indirectly
You caused the creation of fear
A fear of abandonment
A fear of alcohol
A fear of our own mother
A fear for our own mother
A fear of her destroying herself
Just as you had
You were a creationist
You were an artist
You were the sculptor of the
Dent in the wall
And the musician of the
Noise upstairs
I never had much of an appreciation of your work
But asked by the only woman capable of loving you
To create something of the memory of you
I create something too
I string letters together
To create words
I piece those words together
To create statements
And with these statements I say the only thing on my mind
Since your heart of cruel origins stopped beating
Thank God you're not here
To create anymore.

They're all just weasels

Nobody to trust
But, yourself
As one must
In order to be just
With one & all
