Get a room

There once was a couple from Rundle
Who together we could only see double
Joined at the hip
We shouted a gip
"Christ, get a room for your muddle!"

Premium Member The Couple at the Movie

They revealed things that mortified me,
an abundance of flesh, clothing-free.
     “Get a room, y’all!” I pled.
      They proceeded instead
showing passion with great energy!

Premium Member A COUPLE OF OLD SEA DUCKS

Columbus and Vespucci charted the sea foam,
their star-studied maps taking them far from home~
till their helmsman did say,
“Hey, take your sextants away…
you ancient sea-souls, get a room for your tome.”

The Wedding Couple

The smiling bride, the handsome groom –
A happy couple, you’d assume –
Arranged before a camera’s click,
A moment captured, swift and slick.

The tension not apparent there –
Instead, a calm and lovely pair,
Which no observer would suspect
Was, from the stresses, close to wrecked.

Beneath their unsuspecting gaze,
Their married life, in every phase,
Awaits the pleasures and the pain
That newlyweds can’t ascertain.

Within its frame, on shelf or wall,
(Unless removed with break-up’s call)
The handsome groom and smiling bride
Stare at the future, side by side.

A Couple, Otherwise Distracted

Stems of myrtle, mint
Bends and closer he.
One whiff, and delirious:
"Her loving feeling!"

Trunks of ficus*, fir
Draws and cooler she.
One hug, and proudly assured:
"His strength, sheltered in!"

Premium Member SECOND CHANCE COUPLE

They built a life from second chances~
his divorce long past,
her first marriage finally found in him,
two late-in-life soulmates
who learned tenderness the hard way.

Together they raised children
who were never hers by blood
but wholly hers in devotion~
managing medications, meltdowns,
the fragile labor of special-needs care
that society applauds
but never supports.

Now the phone stays silent.
No calls. No cards.
Distance has become an alibi
for abandonment.

Their loneliness grows heavy,
a quiet emergency
no agency tracks,
no policy names,
no system prepares for.

And the question echoes
through their dimly lit home~
Who will care for the caretakers
when the world they held together
lets go of them?

Premium Member Mated Swan Couple

The cob met his pen, she a true friend
Made their nest, cygnets hatched
Cygnets met their soul mate at last
They're alone, then death snatched

Elegant swan growing older
Her cob so strong now gone
What's in God's plan for each new day
She'll have to wait for dawn

Love Sunrise

Love is like the sunrise, constant and warm.
Loving you is like a rainbow, bright and fun.
Love you make every day feel new and refreshing with each breath.
Loving you makes rainbows appear in the sky, making our days lovely each year.
Lifting prayers to God, today and always.

Premium Member Happy Anniversary !

We have our strengths,
we have our quirks... and
together we're quite the team.

Let's just agree that
you keep being you
and I'll keep being me.

Premium Member Whatever happened to the friends we made last summer?

They both loved to travel.
Thrived on sparks of spontaneity and adventure.
Life had much to offer.

Tricked

I penned you a series of cards,
each inspired by The Great Bard.
But tricked by my muse,
when his insults I used,
left my valentine hopes charred.

Premium Member Neurodivergence has Worked for Us

he had to have routines
I saw no value in that
He brought over his car
I danced on the hood, thought I was all that.

We had different ideas
He felt people were a challenge of course.
I was friends with the entire town,
knew the names of their dogs, rabbits and horse.

we were ill-suited everyone said.
Opposites, but neither of us especially well-bred.
That was fifty-eight years ago and we are still together.
Neurodivergence has worked for us in all kinds of weather.

two of hearts

the twos dance around me
they daunt me they taunt me
serving as a reminder
like a pair of eyes
two peas in a pod
a two way street
at 2 AM
pairs
that everyone has
i wonder where mine is
i wonder when it will come
the twos like to taunt me
they remind me of an empty space
one that i never cared for
or was aware of
they like to say
the time will come
and they run away
shaking with laughter
they are tricky
they have double meanings
they are two faced
in reality, the duality is
one satisfies me
but i feel the twos
creeping up on me
i know them
they like to dance
they forever taunt

Premium Member SHADOW OF TEARS

Saturday was our one day,
seeing our friends and laughing.
Couple on wood skating floor,
around we loved to go~go.
He held me so very tight,
as the fun music played on.

He asked me to marry him.
