The Circle of Friends

A mother stood in her fragile home,
her children laughing in the quiet room.
But a serpent of trouble, silent and sly,
slithered near with a hungry eye.

She fought with courage, heart aflame,
but alone, her strength could not tame
the coils of fear, the tightening breath
she stood at the doorway of certain death.

Then, footsteps thundered, voices rang,
her friends appeared, a faithful band.
They struck the serpent, tore its pride,
lifted her burden and turned the tide.

Together they cast the darkness away,
together they saved the light of her day.
A truth was spoken in that fierce hour:
no soul survives on strength alone,
we live because of a greater power
the hands that hold when hope has flown.

So cherish your circle, keep it warm,
a bond of shelter through every storm.
Be the one who answers the call,
who lifts a friend when shadows fall.

For life is woven, thread by thread,
by those who walk with us, not ahead.
And when the serpent of sorrow appears,
it is friendship’s wings that calm our fears.

Be true, be near, be kind, be known
no heart should ever stand alone

Eye To Eye

We are so different, totally.
There hardly is a thing
that gives us common ground at all,
but it is interesting –
that we can still live side by side
in pure peace if we try.
Cuz everything is possible…
when we see eye to eye.

If I Had a Hoe

If I'd a hoe,
in frozen Maine or Idaho,
I'd go on raking,
shivering and shaking,
 all over this land.
I'd go reseeding after weeding
Brother, though your heart is aching,
and the field work is back-breaking,,
We've got to go on raking.
Sister, strengthen us by baking

Singing children, join the chorus.
The seven dwarfs are for us.
Uncle Sam and Santa Claus
cheer us on on without a pause.
Hoe, hoe, hoe!

Lost Thought On Cooperation As a Dollar Bill

i wish cooperation was a dollar bill
if so, then i would be on the road with my Sweets
however, life is what it is, so i choose to remain an ageless dreamer
for when a dream is lived, the feeling of accomplishment is unmatched
i guess i need to go to bed, i need my rest for my everyday trip tomorrow
the alarm is set for 3:10am, however, i do not dread it
instead, i embrace it, for i know too many who research blunt force trauma
i remind myself not to forget my amored helmet
i better put that downstairs with the rest of the usual stuff
i bet you a chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit that i will dream about cooperation being the new and improved dollar bill again
i wonder if leftover coconut shrimp will go good with said chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit
hmmmmm, at least i have my Sweets in which to savoringly savor....

Solidarity

Easier would be
           load the world
             on the back,
       if everyone participated
            with his shoulder... !

Premium Member Agree To Disagree

I don’t understand the way
That hatred seems to rule
Every minute of every day
It seems to gain more fuel

Dave told us years ago
That “We Just Disagree”
But now we choose to hate and so
No answers will there be

Cooperation is a lost art
Collaboration can’t be found
Real solutions will never start
When hatred still abounds

There was a time not long ago
When opposite sides could talk
Design and ideas would flow
Our leaders walked the walk

That time is gone, it seems for good
And hatred rules the day
Discussions turn to attacks so rude
There’s nothing left to say

It seems that now we never find
When two on opposite sides
Disagree, but still are kind
To others far and wide

“Agree to disagree” I’ve heard the phrase
And try to comprehend
That differences, like a smoky haze
Don’t make you hate your friend

So make a change, just try and see
You’ll help this world go round
Don’t hate because you disagree
And answers will be found

Premium Member Options In the Hat

We co-operate or quarrel more?
Sometimes not this, and sometimes not that.
Lockdown, each faces this question sore.
Is there any option in the hat?
Sometimes not this, and sometimes not that.
Virus might catch us, out if we went.
Is there any option in the hat?
Have to sort out now, lest we ferment.
Virus might catch us, out if we went.
We will take turns to do the home work.
Have to sort out now, lest we ferment.
Set rules for default if one is jerk.
We will take turns to do the home work.
Lockdown, each faces this question sore.
Set rules for default if one is jerk.
We co-operate or quarrel more?

Harmony

There is no English word like harmony,
describing compromise in such a way,
appealing to the senses frequently,
uplifting feelings, leading its own way.
In music it’s a wavelength or a line,
where higher notes appear and prove to be
compatible, where oscillates align—
a frequency within a frequency.
Society could use a dose or two,
regarding politics and lying spin,
with personal relationships askew,
preventing amity and calm within.

The only road to harmony and peace,
is one where people love and conflicts cease.

Competition Instead of Cooperation

competition instead of cooperation
we are growing they say
but how

are we growing fat in hatred
or are we growing slim
in love

we are growing they say
but how

are we growing big in lies
Or small in truth

yet we are growing
I just wonder how

how we are growing
are we growing up well
or are we growing up dying
to live

yet we are growing
yes we keep growing

but were are we growing to
even when we grow
how do we grow

are we growing
when there are so many
in need out their in the third world

are we growing when food waste
in some part of the world
while their are too many hungry
stomach in so many places

are we growing when
truth is dying
about to be buried
far away from our existence

are we growing when
our soul remains stagnant
no spiritual growth
cos no more common sense

yet we are growing
growing in a world of
competition instead of cooperation

Premium Member Thomas and Nikola

Thomas made the lightbulb, and Nikola made a coil,
each of them was brilliant over everything they'd toil.

And though they did amazing things with all their mind and heart,
neither liked the other one and so they worked apart.

They argued over processes and created quite a feud,
they berated and belittled and were both completely rude.

It's too bad that their pride got in the way right from the start;
they could have done much more together than they did apart.

Premium Member Bringing Board Games To Class

I like to bring board games into the classrooms every once in a while.
It causes my students to laugh and play, some of them first time smile.
I’ve never found a better way to check these things, their basic reading level, and more.
“I’m going to tell; you’re a cheater! You lie! That’s not the rules!” It shows me losers, sore.
This amazing method tells me a lot, and rather quickly, going room to room.
The teachers roll their eyes, wondering what I am doing; hoping I will leave soon.
“I can’t be on a team with her, I don’t like him, we do not get along.”
Some of them have targeted the whole class, when they sing this silly song.
