She never was the kind of cook
who consulted a recipe book,
and he never complained but swallowed.
He ate with that habitual look
to the ER that always followed.
I recently received a cookbook
that was given to my older brother
A hand-me-down from my dad
that was passed down from his mother
After I use my cookbook, and before my time is done
I'll keep my family's tradition going, and I'll give it to my son
I don't believe in murder
Nor anything of its kind.
I also couldn't care less,
You'll be shocked to find.
I don't believe in purpose,
I'd paddle out to sea,
I certainly don't believe in love,
That's fairy tale stuff to me.
I don't believe in God, or God's,
But I don't think we're alone.
I don't believe in good or grace;
We're in this for our own.
I couldn't dream of thinking twice
About this war or that..
The biggest pointless act man found,
Was going tit for tat
my first cookbook was Betty Crocker
I hope they still sell it
the recipes were fun and easy
this was before I was forced to cook
I used to think cooking was fun
I made simple things
chocolate chip cookies
tidbits with cheese and sour cream
every ingredient in this cookbook was in our pantry
or our refrigerator
our mother kept a well-stocked home
I may try to look this cookbook up
I remember thinking it was fun to cook
and it was
when I was a child
and did not have to make three meals a day
I lost interest in cooking along the way
but if I had the Betty Crocker cookbook
maybe I could revive a bit of interest
I will look for it
When I travel near and far,
I find a cookbook that is a real star.
With thousands of great recipes to cook,
How in the world do I just take one look?

I am a collector of cookbooks from every store,
I can never have enough I always need more.
Cookbooks with pretty food pictures galore,
I find them on every shore.
When I travel near and far,
I find a cookbook that is a real star.
With thousands of great recipes to cook,
How in the world do I just take one look?
Cookies are oh so sweet,
Much better than a red beet.
Maybe I need to look up meat,
We can add some cheese and let’s eat.
Maybe a salad will be healthy,
But I don’t think it will make me wealthy.
Hundreds of cookbooks are lined up in a row,
I hope they do not fall on my toe.
Now off to my kitchen to see what I will cook,
Should I read a cookbook for just one more look?

These are the days of ambient light
Where speech is bastardised into winking icons
Where binary money buys the next upgrade
Sunlight seen through a man made lens
Imagination imprisoned on the net
Our lives the library books of an electric race
Relationships ripped on live tv
We are the desensitized generation
The qwerty kings and queens
all the answers a finger tip away
We are humanity trapped within the world wide web
And the internet is never appeased
water for dinner
and no cable for dessert
makes the brain work hard
Living a promise to fulfill a destiny,
The cookbook of life where you are my recipe.
Entangled divine, enriched aged wine.
God only knows, like clockwork in time.
Sleeping beauty spell, broken by lips intertwined.
A true prince in the making, once upon a time.
Now stands a king upright and aligned.
A crown and a smile - purity defined .
The power of love to conquer the grime,
This moment forever yielding sublime.
Trickle of water, a smidgen of hope.
It's a high wire stunt on a tightrope.
I look through your eyes and straight to your heart,
It makes my world stop I need a jump start.
Jump with me, take the leap.
Forever emblazoned, emotional heat.
A soul searched and found,
Was lost without sound.
From reading this chapter,
It'll heal your pain.
From here on out,
And forever after.
-Yours Truly
