When mortal man with finite mind
presume God’s essence to unwind
He finds mysteries too profound
and truths which his logic confounds.
The God who made the galaxies
stooped low to die on Calvary.
And he whose might is infinite,
as man would pass through infancy.
He taught us that the weak are strong
And that true strength must endure wrong.
The rich are poor, the poor are rich
What men thought wise, His wisdom switched.
To live with Him, a man must die.
Who wins sin’s fight must sigh and cry.
To win the crown, a man must yield,
and fight sin’s fight, with faith as shield.
The wisest men, God deems them fools
The truly wise are those He schools.
Salvation’s plan, wise men despise
God’s ways are foolish in their eyes.
If man, by searching, God can find
Then he’ll make God after his kind.
God has revealed Himself to man
through salvation’s contrarian plan.
Humble yourself, proud, mortal man
God was there before time began.
If you desire to be wise
Let His Spirit open your eyes.
Then God’s true nature, you will see,
His boundless love for you and me
The glory beaming from His face
Both seen in His amazing grace.

The ***** eye for a straight guy
Of course sees everything as different.
Call it dyslexic, contrarian or rebellious
What appears is not what it sees.
Beneath the painted face a demon,
Behind the fixed smile deep sadness,
Between the lines of news deception,
Within the chronic depressive great wisdom.
The ***** eye sees it all
Not with an anything goes view
But simply as it is, beyond the veil,
Frankly and merely, well, odd.

‘Tis NOT MY challenge to PROPERLY eat
I have mad cravings for BEETS, not for sweets ~
When I TRY to refrain
Something rattles my brain ~
Once addled, I trade chocolate for WHEAT
It’s hard to always know in life
which way is best to go.
Following fads and trends
tends to be not,
from what I know.
But does that mean in everything
you go the other way?
I’ve tried that
and I’ll tell you what
at the end of the day -
if you live life against the grain
most times you will be right.
But if it’s all you ever do…
then you will miss the light.
In Encino there's a veterinarian
who is the Valleys rudest contrarian
He'll insult a shy tabby
Greet a pug: Hey there, flabby!
But at home, he's a kind Presbyterian

because I shun the Conga Line
observe the strange gyrations
of a movement serpentine.
I stand alone, often dismayed
they chide me: “C’mon take a chance.”
I dare not tell them that I can’t
Cuz I never learned to dance.

This week Israel observes its New Year
A holiday which some cheer
While others find it quite severe
Who will live and who will die is decreed
To the drawn-out prayers, the devout take heed
This is New Year number 5780
By the Biblical system of dating
Though support for this calculation is fast fading
Moderns seem sure the world is billions of years old
Yet perhaps that claim's a bit oversold
From Noah's Ark, the Great Flood -- every event's
Been scientifically verified per the Old Testament
So, can we conclude with certainty we know
That Adam and Eve didn't live 5,780 years ago?

gentle&repetitive
strange
sounds
exposed
in

toned
atmosphere
complementary
with
a sense
of calm
in the surreal
&absurd
effortlessly
unified
in a minimalist
tapestry
neutralized
melody
chaotically
created
pathos
laden
in a collage
of
eccentricity
To Live, one must die;
To Control, one must yield;
To Trust, one must not ask why;
To Love, one must drop the shield.
Wisdom needs pain;
Joy needs receptivity;
Stability needs strain;
Confidence, needs humility.
True Wealth, is given to the simplistic;
True Freedom, is granted to the restrained;
True Health is given to the holistic;
True Knowledge is granted to the trained.
True happiness...True happiness?
True happiness remains unexplained...
