Complementing Poems

Nature is magic

I love the smell of dew on the grass, when a new day has just begun. I love to watch the flowers as they turn their heads towards the Sun.

I love to hear the gentle whispers of the welcoming breeze.
I love to watch as it rustles through, the leaves upon the trees.

I love to watch the Angelic rays from the sun as they pierce through the branches of a tree. Creating a kaleidoscope of pretty shapes on the undergrowth for all to see.

I love to watch the clouds as they gracefully float on by, like fluffy balls of candyfloss complementing the blueness of the sky.

I love to hear the intenseness of the thunder, as it rumbles way up high. And the flashing from the lightening's rage, as it fork's across the sky.

I love to listen to the heavy rain as it bounces of the ground.
A harmonious, symphony of notes, with its own unique sound.

I love it when a rainbow grace our sky after the poring rain .
A masterpiece of pretty colours, cupping the earth in its domain.

There is beauty all around for those with eyes to see. Nature is magical, it is captivating, it is abundant and it is free.

You are my sea glass

Tossed deep in the ocean was your broken heart
Picking up the pieces, refining each part
Of yourself. Thrown, wacked, hurled and caught by the waves
Floating, passing by, not needing to be saved
Your mended heart polished through an ocean grave

Coming from man, perfected only by nature
You are my blessing, with nothing else greater
You thought meeting another was unlikely
And then we met as you surfaced politely
Resemblance of a rare gem shining brightly

Frosty appearance from love's weather before
Your edges smoothened, beautiful to the core
Your exciting presence was clearly defined
Your character beamed with love for me so kind
You are my oceanic gem, hard to find

You're the end product, our love is forever
Imperfectly perfect due to love's weather
Your unique presence in my life became rife.
Thanks my husband for complementing my life
You are my sea glass. I am your gleeful wife

Premium MemberBIRDS IN JUXTAPOSITION WITH FISHES

What matters most is their role fulfillment
as feathered fowls mentioned by the Scriptures
and they, as God’s wondrous ocean creatures
triumphant midst freedom-geared commitment.

Optimizing well their musical zest
song birds render their chorus with delight
while fishes exercise production might
achieving for the best, feeling so blest.

With contrasting pursuit midst their design
they enjoy serenely granted lifestyle
never competing, nor jealous... meanwhile
complementing each other as they shine.

Learning from birds, I would sing and soar high
then from fishes, maximize and share grace
being a blessing in running life's race*
accomplishing, whether I swim or fly.

*Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

“A Tortoise and Hare decide to race. The hare is so confident in the lead that he naps while the tortoise keeps going to win.” Aesop’s Fable

Learning from their practical contest

Hare and tortoise built friendship, really best

Helping each other with kindness’ zest

Complementing one another to the fullest

Hare in running fast, finding nest of sweet rest

With tortoise sharing provisions for food fest

Thankful to God* for their partnership that's blest.

Iron and Wool

Mill boy, meets pit girl.
Wool and Iron.
Protection and strength.
Complementing.
Opposites attracting.
The magnetic core pull,
unbreakable.
The outer, nourishing, nurturing.
The perfect balance.
A symmetry.
Loved and loving.
Life shared, family, forever friends,
Vows, distant, but stronger.
Sons, raised, fledged and flying
Dreams realised.
New lives, new dreams.
Hope undimmed.
Love eternal.
Forever us.

I Sincerely Apologize It Has Taken Me So Long To Reply

I sincerely apologize on my own behalf

It has taken me so long

To have eventually woken up

And to respond and reply

To you as you did to me

As I was so taken up in my own ego and self

With you complimenting and embellishing me

With undue undeserving praise

I never was able or took my time to realize

Whilst you were complementing me

Backing up my own delusional thoughts

Thinking believing and buying into

Just how smart I thought I was

What I failed to sadly and unfortunately

Realize was just how smart you in fact

Actually you we're rather than me

And now I have finally seen the light

I sincerely apologize

I let my ego run away and get so out of hand

And also now more than ever sincerely appreciate

You are still willing to accept my apology

So in some small inconsequential way

I feel my debt and your faith in me

Was and has been repaid

I am the wind
the textured curl of clouds
those specks of glitter
silver and gold are my
illustrative gleams

the foiling wings
that flutter and flap
feathers ripe with color

complementing all rosy hills
a rolling kiss a splash of
blush a dash of spicy dish
the pepper and the salt
of a morning's stirring serving

see me in the meadows
there where wildflowers overflowing
bees and butterflies how they gaily
bob take lick like little children
at the serving tops of apples candied
making funny faces where those more
tart chasing rainbow tails the
fond remnants of showers

I made this day for you
now do me honor
save some acres from your cities
and roads
one or two at the least
as I keep sacred
your plot through the heavens

The Rose

My first foray onto the stage my freshman year
I played the part of a journalist in only one scene
so I understood why no one I knew would attend
By my last production as a senior
I was the star of the show but you’d never know
After delivering my last line
the curtain falling for the final time
I waited with the rest of the cast backstage
as their families and friends flooded in
complementing their performances
as they filled their arms with flowers
scenting the air like a florist shop
while I stood solitary, my own empty
Leaving the building I saw a single rose
lying on the sidewalk that had slipped
from someone’s bouquet
on their way to the parking lot
Picking it up I inhaled its perfume
as I walked the dark streets alone
back home to discover my mother
wrapped in a robe reclining in her rocking chair
like an old lady though she was only thirty five then
smoking a cigarette in front of the TV
my father fidgeting with his toy car collection
neither saying a word as if I were a ghost they couldn’t see
I grabbed a glass from the cabinet in the kitchen filling it from the sink
inserting the stem of that one red rose which wasn’t meant for me

Premium MemberNature Trip

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” Psalm 19:1 of the King James Bible

Nature trip propels circuitous mountain trek
beckoning ascent toward zenith’s panoramic view
ushering footsteps along trails midst pine tree canopies
wafting freshness tranquility-redolence while sun-bursts peep
radiating hope as cascading crystals from water falls welcome my soul…

Reaching verdant summit transcending clouds
my heart basks at the firmament, exposed as azure canvas
painting fluffy cushion balls spreading cottony feathers and flakes
complementing hilly floral terraces glowing with golden and scarlet hues
for faith-filled gratitude that exalts the Creator Whose handiwork is perfect.

Reacquaintance

So silky and thick and soothing and tempting..
You lure me in with your visual peace and colourful warmth.
Caressing my eyes and my skin.
Cradling my soul, while encouraging my mind to be still;
or to wander..
Complementing both, and either feels good.

You have no expectations, and space for me always.
You're gentle but firm, and for me,
you hold infinite freedom.
You have your dangers and yet you feel so safe..
I know you'll always look after me.

The way you fill me.
The way you inspire me.
The way you empower me..
Isn't this what love is?
I know you love me, Dark.
And I love you.

Premium MemberShape of Things To Come

shape up said the circle to the square

you’re a bit rough around the edges

far too closed in for comfort and joy

I can’t help it I’m all full of angles

right ones and wrong perspectives

constant rectangular doom so to speak

look at me I am a ring of fire and passion

diametrically sound complete at the centre

rounded and packed with infinite promise

you’ve no beginning unaware of the start

state you’re a wheel in perpetual motion

while I am grounded and sure of myself

no such thing for you are rigid and static

unsure where you’re going if moving at all

condemned to inflexible and taut stiffness

and so they squabbled from angry premises

valid arguments and debatable conclusions

righteous and unbending in their opposition

until an ellipse and parallelogram came along

change needs shifting paradigms under pressure

the square opened and jumped into the circle

anchored tangents perimeter and firm compromise

let us please wed our disadvantages and strength

no contradiction but complementing each other

Pythagoras meets Sisyphus and they applaud

Enthusiasm unbounded breaks loose leaving words behind, nascent as the sound of music,an ephemeral creative force within,no longer handcuffed by language, where less is more. Creative reflections from quiet corners, secluded with our thoughts, perceptive insights, butterfly moments catching the fugitive of the commonplace. From this lonely place, these musings cry out as symbols of the soul complementing each lament into a colour field of words.

Premium MemberSun and Moon

Whilst in the light of the moon,
I open my notebook of poems
I've written, gaze at the heavens
and all of its harmonious planets and stars.

Whilst my mind wonders,
how can I put into rhyming
and romantic words
how pleasing the aureate sun
is against cerulean sky,
its clouds that sail across.

Musing of earthen colors
that make up the earth that turns
as does the changing seasons;
the snow-capped mountains,
lush forest, and seeds taking root,
stimulating waterfalls cascading down
into the depths of streams
and rivers towards the ocean.

I become filled with wonder
at the sand dunes
that move across the ground in wind,
the complementing blazing hot sun
painting the skies a tangerine-lavender
while melting over the corners of the horizon.

Tantalizing is the turquoise ocean's
and life in its briny water,
whilst waves walk back up to its shores,
warblers sing and spread its wings
and fly across the sky.

Enthralled by sensation of nostalgic moon,
swept away in love upon the sun rises.
