I love

Dimpled dents, not potholes I love,
Fair unfair both, all doles I love.

With most voted horses on sale,
Steeds, stallions, colts and foals I love.

Popular may be peoples’ rule,
Ought such recurrent polls I love?

If scored with the fair ends and aims,
All penalty scored goals I love.

Should they turn to diamond one day,
Carbons of all the coals I love.

Prairie Fire

“I don’t splain myself,”
Bill Hickok said
before his Colts went off
A dead man lying
at his feet
—his legend time embossed

Held to expectation cast by citizens
Mirror assures return of gilded grins
Ballroom brag pats his back
Dancer has handshakes lubricated
Dignitaries' approval demonstrated

Slide through sludge of embellishing
Climbing supply sets steep trajectory
Chainmail armour can't crack
Schedule transferred into twenty four
Long clock pours hour numb typhoon

Two day growth rubs grey flat reflection
Ajar loss odds conjure slam of rejection
Glass heart arbiter fears attack
Campsite composed becomes complex
Company pivot competitively, sniff index

Windswept wolf is braced for coals' ignite
Empire pain laid relabeled, corporate heist
Exposed turgid slapped by lack
Asset confines his value crushed for cash
Worthless in combustion, a city collapsed

                  Identical colts interrupted
                  Bid for counterpart acclaim
                  Business fortune corrupts
                  consecutive boys verbatim

Premium MemberThe Awesome Merry Month

How awesome is the month of May.
They say it’s merry. That’s SO true.
Of springtime’s months, it is the best.
Rare it is to see clouds of grey.
Newborn lambs and cute colts frolic.
I want to play in that same way!
The season’s in full fruition -
not too hot like on a June day.
The grass is green and skies are blue.
It is the best of springtime’s months.
Outside I go with no delay!

Spring

Violent walls of black drift across cobalt skies
trees twisted and mangled by turbulent wind
rain in sheets of glass from heavens rush
rivers fill with natures eroding water

In the silent aftermath,
birds sing to a shining sun
colts and calves dance in green pastures
frolicking to the new days tune.

Mother rams with baby lambs
for greener grass are hunting.
Mama cows spy mama sows
with piglets softly grunting.

Creature ma’ams are joined by dams
whose baby colts start snorting!
Calves and colts and pigs like dolts
in meadows are cavorting.

(I learned a new word doing this, which kids might enjoy learning:
dams are female horses!)
From Wikipedia:
The word (dam) can also be used for other female equine animals, particularly mules and zebras . . . A horse's female parent is known as its dam. An uncastrated adult male horse is called a stallion and a castrated male is a gelding.

The Journey Begins
By: Miracle Man
6/15/2020

Birth was the sunrise of a journey.
I’ve spent time on dirt roads viewing ditches populated by colts foot
before reaching my road of choice.
My vehicle sports the dings of time, engine has been rebuilt,
ball joints replaced along with other body work.
Now as days shorten, through a haze,
I review some detour signs to which I paid no heed.
I see clearly my journey’s destination,
But I never question my choice of roads
and as fuel tank nears empty I continue just idling along.
God has blessed me!

Springtime In the State of Texas

If you stroll a wild colored garden
Down thin and dappled paths;
Where bluebonnets bloom on Spring’s black floor,
And mockingbirds above are happily singing, see

New limber-legged colts and calves dancing in the sun,
And chartreuse baby leaves pasted to gnarly live oak trees,
While spirals of gnats like tiny dusters move across the land.
Blue brooks rippling and giggling from rain’s both storm and tease.

And then

An infant black cloud blows a shadow across the sand;
Prickly pears burst and bloom one on one like an amoebic flower;
A trail of smoke and smells from a miles away evening kitchen;
Tired working horses and fence mending riders wending home.

It’s Springtime in the State of Texas

2 bits --------two horses
4 bits---------two more
6 bits----------totaling 12 horses now
So many bits in the mouths of colts and fellies…
Running
 on
the road

Long Ago Spring Flowers

Flowering bluebonnets will soon carpet fields;
Baby colts playing, kicking up their heels.
Indian paintbrushes will streak through the blue,
And gnarled oak trees budding will show off their hue.

Once I rode a horse through the bluebonnet's terrain;
Low hanging thunderclouds portending of rain;
Showers refreshing drenching my face,
My love by my side

Another time and another place.

The Priority

On a patch pink
Called a brown skink
Near my bed room
Made a rose bloom

It is such things
There and then brings
Sparks from our soul
Waves in our bowl

In the pond’s froth
There was a moth
I caught it live
Both got in strife

Put it on a
Stack of gray hay
Made sure it lies
Near the skink’s eyes

The skink looked pleased
It rushed in speed
But stopped short of
Grab on moths love

It once looked right
The eyes shone bright
Turned its head left
In a move deft

My, oh, my, a
Skink pink and gray
On a tree stem
Now two of them

Both rushed and met
A lot of sweat
Colts from old Troy
Huge flood of joy

Premium MemberThank You Walt Whitman

thank you Walt Whitman

oh you foolish ones
bordering on change of life
standing still for a moment
before full manhood embraces

how brave and daring
strident, filled with never ending life;
brash colts with tricks and
shameless lures for pretty young things.

exquisite in your urges to hold on
keep childish freedom safe
tucked beneath a wishful heart
in that summer, that blissful summer

came a roar, a grinding metallic clack
shatters down the hills
with siren sounds heard only in melodious tones
by boys about to burst from youth

seasons change, our autumn
reaps in radiant red all of
those peach-fuzzed near men
gone to strange places far from us

this fall harvest takes
it never feeds but grief and loss
as triangle folded flags fill arms
and blue black rifles air their song.

I still hear your laughter
full throated fiercely joyous
bite into winter wind
and echo down the canyon wall.

Premium MemberLet's Meet On Our Yesterdays

Meet me back on those effervescent days;
Let’s swing on shafts of their lingering light,
Like our childhood hero in vine-borne flight,
Till we’re again in that sun-swaddled place,
Where once we were colts free to roam and race,
On meadows with dews of innocence bright,
And friendship’s rainbow arching every sight,
Before we were called to the adults’ maze.

                             Let us leap across the years, my dear friend;
Though our bodies may balk, our minds are lithe.
On the playground of our youth we shall land,
Where birds still kiss the sky, stingless bees hive,
And our mischief roiled through a drowsy glen
Whose slumber still our laughing echoes rive.

The Vision

The vision

The horses, mares and colts that drank cold water
in the shallow river crossing the grassland
looked up a massive plane its wingspan
darkens the valley.
The horses gallop till they are tired and the plane has left
the horses, at ease, can graze again.
The far mountain is like a Canadian blue mountain song
is hazy and shivers like a broken vocal cord.
A lotus swarm of helicopters fill the sky and scared
horses are galloping, again and again, the sky darkens.
Then on the far mountain, a new sun appears it shines
bright for a while, then dies like a comet.
A storm blows, the grass withers and the river are dry.
Dead horses, but the blue mountain is a diamond

Bevy of swans in a sea-fowl cloud,
starling mumuration,whispering aloud.
Wray of quail,where teal spring,
tiding of magpie,as larks nesting, cling.

Nightingale watch a hover of crows,
herd of wrens,hosting sparrows.
Flight of doves,lapwing deceit,
charm of finches,swallows sweet.

Kindle of kittens,knot of toads,
a yoke of oxen shed their load.
Den of snakes,skulk with fox,
shires stabled and boxed.

Business of ferrets,labour with moles,
span of mules in a string of foals.
Harrass of horse,husk of hares,
rake of colts with a stud of mares.

Drove of cattle, with a tribe of goats,
downs of sheep,pack of stoats.
Spider cluster in a thatch,
brood of game,hatched,matched
and despatched.
