Chop wood, carry water
before enlightenment
as a mundane action
conducted in stupor,
thereby lacking traction.
Chop wood, carry water,
since body has it's need
and so there's some vigour
but we still feel empty,
for love's not the trigger.
Chop wood, carry water
when light of clear truth dawns,
mindful actions slower,
knowing that God breathes us,
thus He is the mover.
