Sloppy hands writing blind,
they can’t see but they feel;
Tracing cursive letters
slowly onto your back,
art bleeds from go getters;
Sloppy hands writing blind,
beauty’s pulled from within;
Dreams in abstract phrases
grace the poet’s chapbook;
Bonfire of heart blazes;
Sloppy hands writing blind
free every primal thought;
Outside the lines and wild
aggressive comes alive;
Melting into self- styled;
Sloppy hands writing blind,
at times in a circle;
Emotions lead the way
but often don’t make sense;
Poet, let yourself play.
One of the poems from my chapbook #IT'S GODLY
The howling winds depicts no hurricanes
The sound of rains tapping on the stones is no noise
But a reminder that in the fields,
human silence predominates,
In the fields time stand still and troubles distill
Birds hosts with lullabies to comfort and heal
As flesh decompose, a beetles' meal.
Rest and forget! The world is cruel
The gap is undefined, the bond undescribable
Reading the epitaphs reminds how temporary life is
Holding close to the souvenirs reminds how good yesterday was
Crying for you reminds how chaotic the world can be.
But in the fields is where serenity is
Rest still, freeze till
We shall and we will
These boundaries will fade, be erased
And in that beautiful canopy, a mystery, we will enter
For in it there is a life again and forever.
For the record,
Archives of the soul,
Parchments of remembrance,
Notes from yesterday,
Diary of memories,
Chapbook of tomorrow.
September 6, 2022.
Bitesize Poem No. 52 Poetry Contest,
Line Gauthier.
I submitted a chapbook;
a competition,
paid my twenty-five dollars
and waited.
All I got was an e-mailed receipt.
I had to go on-line to see –
no mention.
That was years ago
but I now mention it
for most of those unripe words
have now turned to wine
and sometimes they are
good enough to drink.
When Rico said, Thirty days will go by
and I’ll be forgotten after I die
I knew what I had to do
I’ll make a book for you
At least the cover will catch your eye
I decided to do this in case he croaks
It's a chapbook with his incredible jokes
Double-entendres filled with sex
At Kinko's-AKA-Fed-Ex
Obsessed with Vladimir's power, a hoax
Thousands of words it cost me some chen
Kinko’s gets it—they always have been
Lucky for Rico Leffanta
I have chosen the right fonta
At my source where they make things happen

translation: I hope you live forever!
Brisk the air, a fall breeze sways the tree on this new land.
Forest druids can be seen but be wary on approach.
Most of the land still stays unmanned.
Streams flow through the forest full of loach.
Elves guard the entrance of the misty woods, don't try to sneak in.
Head west and you will find the true horror wars can bring.
Orcs walk over corpses, goblins scavenging the battlefields pulling off skin.
The fairy folk tried to hold them off but lost their wings.
Cast down to the ground they were outmatched.
Retreat was inevitable, victory was already snatched.
A thousand years past, fairy folk extinct, it's the birth of man.
A new era was born, towns popped up, the land was untouched no more.
Guilds soon after, adventures were born, the land was changing to its core.
Before then let’s talk about the war.
This is the first entry to my high fantasy Chapbook I will be releasing later this year. All input is welcomed and helps.
The poet dreams, and with a simple glance
at trees or sky or at a mountain spring,
begins to write, endeavors to enhance
each sight of beauty with imagining.
He paints midsummer as a day of gold,
the song of birds at twilight as the tune
for his beloved, whose aspect is extolled
and likened to the splendor of the moon.
At times, his heart is pained. It seems that doom
pursues him in that chasm where he grieves.
He finds he still must write. . . and there may bloom
sweet wistful roses on his journal’s leaves.
Though meager be his assets, he bequeaths
to us a treasure with the words he breathes.

From my chapbook: Dancing the Unicorn: Lyrical Blooms 2
I had won a chapbook deal for my Lyrical Blooms 1 entitled Dreaming the Unicorn, and I followed it up with a part 2 Dancing the Unicorn, a 44-page chapbook pubished in 2008 by Shadow Ink. The book contains poems of various themes with about two poems per page and organized by types of poetry forms. Blue roses are scattered through the book. Shadow Ink sadly stopped publishing.
The Messenger
I watched the clouds of afternoon
Gather tempest force;
Now, from a cozy shelter
View October's raging storm;
Watching through rain washed windows
Golden oak trees quake
While from their summered branches
Autumn treasures take.
Drops of glistening rain fall
From the clouds above
When darkening skies of eventide
Hurry bust'ling crowds;
Through storm winds call they homeward rush,
Not hearing autumn sing,
They search the night for quiet havens,
Shelter from the rain.
Children run along the street
Among the fallen leaves
Gathering autumn's artistry
Riding on the breeze;
The wind blows cold, time's messenger,
Of dark days yet to come -
Taking from the land its harvest
Making way for the ice blue sun.
Have published nine chapbooks of my poetry. The Messenger is one of the poems published in a chapbook titled Rhythms and Rhymes - Award Winning Writings.
All of the poems included in Rhythms and Rhymes have won a contest or an award.
My books are available through my website - www.samkservantsheart.com, or through me. That is an amazingly self serving piece of information but I thought I would include it.
Now a days
Most of the time
I eat fake bread
GF bread
For health reasons
My wife can’t tolerate the real thing
And so,
I eat fake bread
Fake pasta
Fake pizza
But every so often
I want the real deal
I crave bread
Made with wheat
And a real pizza
And real pasta
And real donuts

Every where in the world
When you eat fish
In a restaurant
The restaurant owners
Claim it is salmon or tuna
Or other delicious fish
But the sad reality
60 percent of the time
You are eating fake fish
The fish may be fish
Or may not be fish
But if it is indeed fish
It is probably tilapia
Or some other cheap
Bottom feeding scumbag fish
Filled with toxins
And possibly tape worms
And other parasites
And as you eat your delicious fish
You are eating the fake fish
And helping the fish industry
Continue this con game
But there is nothing you can do
Except for catching your own fish
And preparing it yourself
So, when you eat fish
Pretend if you must
That you eating salmon or tuna
While you eat your tilapia
And pay the salmon/tuna premium price

When I go to a vegetarian restaurant
I often encounter fake meat
Often called mock meat
Made out of soy beans, and other things
And I wonder
Why bother with the façade
I mean if you are a vegan
Be a vegan
Don’t eat or make fake meat
You don’t need it
You really don’t like it
And it is somehow
just wrong to me
So please no more fake meat
No more tofu turkey for me
Either give me my meat
Or give me my vegan delight

Many years ago
I proclaimed to the world
I was Jake
And I was not a fake
But I was the real deal
But over the years
I too have become fake
And yes Jake
Is also nothing but a fake
