Chaney Poems

Mcclendon's Break

Streaking, dashing, breaking away
Up, up the tempo, the McClendon way

Getting wide and filling the lanes
Assisting the open man with two points to gain

Upbeat, back and forth, fast, and then faster
Sitting and watching, a spectator's delight, as they witness a creation by the 'Flow Master'

Yes! Breaking away the McClendon way
Away from stereotypes and public naiveté

Dark skin was a 'NO' for many, like the likes of Duke, Georgetown, Temple, and St. Johns
But Morehouse, Fisk, Howard, and other HBCUs were an emphatic 'YES' for 'McClendons.'

The likes of Bob Love, Cleo Hill, Oscar Butler, The Pearl, Sam Jones, John Chaney, Harold Hunter and so many more
O' McClendon's Break, history indeed; now 'Black Magic' at HBCUs is the heretofore

McClendon's Break extended far beyond 94 feet
His astounding 4 W's made playing that much more sweet

The Who, What, Why, and Where
McClendon's Break, oh so rare

Scotland's Monster Dinner

SCOTLAND'S MONSTER DINNER

walking upon the moors of Scotland    i saw a sprite who
became a unicorn -- she mated with Kelpie:  kissing
therianthropy --> she rode the unicorn:   shedding her skin--
saltire!
I when to Restaurant Andrew Fairlie --
manager said someone got mutilated late last night -- upon the
moors of Scotland!  Oh no!
Glad I ate Haggis!  Sean Connery in drag -- like a werewolf
kissing Gerard Butler. Princes Street    spending howls
shopping in the street in the capital!       Edinburg makes
nice suits and covers all things of humans and beasts.  but i
prefer Lothian Road in the west; near Leith Street! In the east!
oh ah Aaoooooo!
Like Lon Chaney drinking a pina colada!

Lugosi lays, Chaney scares, creeps the dusk,
Price fades, Karloff, clomps, all ashes and dust,
Past-timed preferred actors all,
Scary times, hair raised, jaws fall,
Greats, long unseen, memories hold, hearts crush.

Blues For Rafaa

We worked together
in the airless cubicle gulag
on the surface of the moon
during the last ice age

Diligently scurrying under
the bright artificial lights
composing odes to poverty
with great purpose and poise

Dodging the executive ghouls
who skulked the narrow halls
Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff
howling as the villagers fled

But there he would be
in a state of perpetual calm
absorbing the vortex of chaos
a tall black-skinned Buddha

Always the one to rise above
the daily details and deviations
always keeping his balance
even with one foot in the air

An open and private man
I never got to know well
some glimpses and peeks
but the film never developed

Filled with a sly dry humor
engaged to illuminate not shame

the spark in his dark pupils
came from a clarity of heart

His was a living credo of resolve
of stepping back not rushing forward
an involved evolving philosophy
in quiet and thoughtful motion

I will miss him
I will think of him
whenever I take a leap
and am not sure where to land

Created Enemies

Created Enemies

Dick Chaney looked for a foe
With his President in tow.

Presidential agendas he had
That ended up very bad.

Endless Wars

Endless Wars

Chaney you know was in control
And had rich friends on the Government dole.
He started more than one war
To give them very much more.

Dullard President

Pres. George W. Bush
Served in the National Guard on his tush.
Chosen Presidential puppet by Chaney
Because he was not so brainy.

The Real Monsters

double Chaney Lugosi and Karloff
those four are the most known monsters all time
and each monster they portrayed had spinoff
I grew up with those monsters on prime time

my mother saw them in the theatres
I saw them years later on the tv
the Cheneys’ monsters hasn’t been better
today the classic monsters hard to see

those monsters like poetry my fine wine
my mother enjoyed Dracula the most
Abbott and Costello met Frankenstein
all the monsters today are way to gross

Lon didn’t want his son to follow him
the wolfman out lived his father’s phantom

I was one of the best leading men in Hollywood.
Many people thought my acting was quite good!
As long as Jack L. Warner said it was so,
I would be acting in many a diverse scenario!
They would have me playing a gangster or tough guy.
My great acting caught many a theater goer's eye.
Movie fans loved me in my appearance in "Public Enemy",
when I smashed a grapefruit in a woman's face for all to see.
Those were the usual roles from the studio I would get.
However, in the forties, my best part would come yet.
I won the Oscar for portraying a real-life song and dance man.
who was known on Broadway as George M. Cohan.
After that, I received many an offer and demand
to play many lucrative parts! Life was surely grand!
In a fifties film I starred in that played in many places,
I was Lon Chaney in "A Man of a Thousand Faces"
My last starring role was as a man with the Coca-Cola company.
This was in Billy Wilder's film "One, Two, Three".
In this film, I got myself in plenty of hot water
where behind the Iron Curtain, I lost the boss's daughter.
That was the last film for me for quite some time,
until I appeared briefly in the picture "Ragtime".

Premium MemberHalloween Ball

There's a party going on upstairs,
your invited, to come and have a scare.
H.G. Wells, will meet you at the gate,
costumes required, hurry don't be late.

Vincent Price will be tonights D.J.
Halloween is his favorite Holiday.
He's spinning "Thriller", while dressed up as "Kiss".
Watching Claude Rains do the "Transylvania Twist".

Steve McQueen came dressed up as the "Blob",
he's serving up the zombie shish-ka-bobs.
Elsa Lanchester placed real bats within her hair.
While Marty Feldom keeps yelling "Frau Blucher".

At the stroke of the witching hour,
St. Peter amps up all the power.
A disco ball drops down from a cloud.
Out on the dance floor, forms a massive crowd.

Michael Jackson then leads them all in dance,
while Lon Chaney and Karloff take their chance,
to join the angels in harmony,
While "Monster Mash" is sang by Lugosi.

Even the Devil made it through the door.
He's the one sporting an Elvis pompadour.
So much fun is had by one and all,
at Heavens Annual Halloween Ball

Etalia

Here's a thought
from a not so unusual stance
and others, perchance,
have had it too:
Suppose, through a world war three,
a mr. bush and a mr. chaney
decide to impose a new law ...
surprise! surprise!
and it would be they have
decided to stay in office
since this grave emergency
of world war three
dictates that they remain.
Perhaps, I've grown insane
and then again,
prophecy is an Aquarian trait
and I have a birthday
approaching through the mists
of the monoxide air ...
Whatever your pleasure
I would surely treasure
your thoughts on my screed.
