Ken lived in Alexandra town..Which you'll find within the
Borders of Vic..A family man who worked the hotmix
Hands moving strong and quick.' Although born as
A Kiwi.' He became an Aussie true' an ex pugalist who had
Challenged for middleweight dominance in the Oceanian
Games' now who'd have knew? He tuaght me how to come
And go' to walk back jabbing straight, to duck and weave
And use all speed.!! A man you'd value as your mate no
Gloves we wore and knuckles cracked we split a lip or two'
I gave him a black eye, he got up and said a good hit from
You. '
An honour to have known this gentleman' I tell each one
And all of you.'

A Champions Retirement

His retirement the champion announced,
After he was in their fight trounced,
And like a tennis ball bounced…
On him had his challenger pounced,
His strength not letting him use an ounce,
And forcing him to hit the canvas, not once!

Soon, the press,
To painfully address,
And meekly renounce,
All that he did archly pronounce…
The cruelest punch finally goes to rest,
For being no longer The Best.

Challenger

Seven brave souls
left this place
for a hurried adventure
into space,
the shuttle that took them
was monstrous and strong
and those who built it,
thought naught
could go wrong;
but as Murphy would say,
and the fates decreed,
a disastrous adventure
it was meant to be,
for all the time spent
preparing the shuttle;
how easy it was
to overlook the o-ring
the size of a chip,
which lost its integrity
in the morning nip;
so seven brave souls
never made to space,
but in all our hearts
they found,
A permanent place

The Alpha and the Challenger -Trijan-

The moon has hit its highest peak
The challenge has begun
The alpha has claimed right of speak
The challenger will run
The pack will chase until it's caught
The challenger will likely rot
The pack will chase
The pack will chase
Whom ever the alpha has sought

The moon has hit its highest peak
Alpha is on the prowl
The search will never be so bleak
The nose can find an owl
The alpha will teach the pack well
So onward the alpha will tell
The alpha will
The alpha will
Will hold the pack together well

The moon has hit its highest peak
Allowing the pack to see
For the challenger's looking bleak
He can no longer flee
The killing dance will now begin
The challenger is cornered in
The killing dance
The killing dance
The alpha will certainly win

The sorrow is too much to hold
As heroes meet their doom.
It oozes from the TV screen
And permeates the room.
It crawls across the polished floor
And finds me sitting there.
I am without resistance as
It pastes me to the chair.
I did not know their stories
Knew nothing of their lives.
They’re part of me forever, since
I’ve met husbands and wives.
I’ve seen pictures of their parents
And children of seven who died.

This will be a remembered day
When everybody cried.
Now important people gather
These lives to eulogize.
They will take their place in history
As new heroes arise.

The Challenger

Now you got my attention, did you learn your lesson
Thought you were tough, now you know who's rough,
Don't get mixed up into things you cant handle,
melting week like a burnt out candle,
Rippin through the flow, knock you down low
Trapped in somethin you never found, come one ma get off the ground
Clean up the mess from my fists of steel, what's the matter thought you could deal
Stung hard by the true Queen Bee next time think twice before you challenge me

The Challenger

Always changing strategies
when i think we're stalemate
your manipulating mind
I'm almost in checkmate

Have me on my toes
your proving very clever
worthy adversary
a challenging endeavor

But see you've overlooked
a keen eye I have for detail
youth is so impetuous
almost hate to see you fail
