Notes About The Poem

On 28th January 1986 the space shuttle Challenger exploded just after take off from Cape Canaveral in Florida.

The world watched in horror as those tragic events were shown live on T.V.

All seven astronauts on board lost their lives.

Remembering Challenger

those brave pioneers
lost their lives after take off
seven in heaven

It's sad and yet...when one pursues their dreams....there is no guarantee death may be part of it. They all knew the dangers to thembut went on anyway. Those are true heros. Panagiota

I remember. I was bringing my daughter to the bus stop at the time it happened. I was in Hawaii. Heartbreaking!

Thank you S. O., space exploration and the heavens fascinate me, the final frontier. Sadly in 2003 Columbia broke up on re entry again killing all crew members. Exploration into the unknown always carries risks. Tom.

Horrible memory. Great tribute you have written my friend, Tom. I was in Canaveral to watch the previous mission, fortunately, I did not witnessed this one as I , initially had planned. I lived in Canada that time.
