Premium Member Think Man Think

Think man, think,
You’re on the brink,
Try figure now
No matter how.

Think man think,
Forget the drink,
A clever rhyme
There’s not much time.

Think man think,
You can’t hoodwink
Poetry soup
A clever group.

Think man think
Can’t catch a wink
Should get this done
You’ve not begun.

Think man think
Exposed your chink?
It’s time for bed
Tomorrow instead!

It's Time To

My body flips me off and I fall down
Into the sunburnt grass;
It's telling me “It’s time to sleep!
Just look how good this bed of
Uncared for dirt appears in the
Afternoon shade?
Pray, tell me why you will not
Dream now when your
Dorm room didn't catch a wink?”
And I smile at its
Upturned two middle fingers and say,
“Well body, it's actually time to write for me.”

As Autumn's Breeze

As Autumn's breeze begins to blow,
we see the falling flakes of snow
accumulate and start to grow.
It's such a show! It's such a show!

Jack Frost brings forth his crystals clear,
while in the woods are wary deer,
preparing for the winter year.
They've much to fear! They've much to fear!

The children skating on the rink,
will sometimes fall in ice's chink;
they sip hot chocolate for their drink,
then catch a wink, then catch a wink.

A blizzard strikes with fury great;
the children must now cease their skate
and bide 'neath pine to know their fate.
And so they wait, and so they wait.

When finally they all can see
that snow has spared the great pine tree,
they jump and romp and say "Whoopee!"
They are carefree! They are carefree!

Stuck

I'm stuck on a voodoo doll
she's pinned me, she's sinned me
stuck on steal within me
may be alike soul that's akin me
don't matta none, she's jus' in me

I thought she might be from Senegal,
or Haiti maybe - someplace that's all
but said she's from Timbuktu - who knew?
she's here in me now, that's all

it may be unseemly
to be stuck by this voodoo queen
yet she's all I think
she's all I want
at the mystic brink
her wiles she flaunts

I can't catch a wink o' sleep
can't eat a g-damn thing,
I only hunger for her
with her gris-gris talisman

she might be my punishment
or she might be my nourishment
maybe my African that's heaven sent
no matta - she's my voodoo who do
what I need to do - no matta want to be

I'm stuck on this voodoo doll - that's all

Sleepless

Staring out the window
Darkness there beyond

Night people passing by
Who knows where they go

Once again I pace the floor
Yet another sleepless night

Slumber remains elusive
Comfort not in sight

Here I remain, pacing to and fro
Several hours until the dawn of day

Weariness overcomes me now
I think I will try once more

Maybe I can catch a wink
Sleep will make tomorrow a better day
For another night will fall

I suspect but do not know
These sleepless nights are our reward
For having lived so long

Summer Nap

The grass is green
the sky is blue
I slip into a dream
as I think of you

warm sun
beats down on my face
day is done
time to retreat to a special place

Your hair catches the wind
eyes glimmer in the sun
reminding me of places I have been
all of the fun

I attempt a kiss
and reality I met
This dream I miss
the sun has set

Such a shame
To be rudely awoke
who can I blame
Not a word was spoke

Try to regain sleep
but it is to late
can't catch a wink
time to call for a date

Metamorphosis

Day by day I slip a little more
Feeling my sanity slip through my core
I ask myself questions and wonder if it's time
So I thought I'd pass the time with this little rhyme
I seem to be changing and wonder if it's true
If what I'm changing into is new
I'm undergoing metamorphosis as I sit and I think
I'm so bored I just may catch a wink
Would you think me sick in the head
If I told you I wish I were dead
But that's not something to play with it's just too serious
We'd never think of that 'cause you'd fear for us
I feel the change coming I haven't got much time
So I thought I'd pass the time with this little rhyme
He's taking over I can feel my mind doubling
Is it crazy to say I don't find this troubling
I am moving to the next stage in my life
I'm entering the last stage of my strife
He's taking over it's time to say goodbye
I am metamorphosising into a whole new butterfly
