Sleepless

Staring out the window
Darkness there beyond

Night people passing by
Who knows where they go

Once again I pace the floor
Yet another sleepless night

Slumber remains elusive
Comfort not in sight

Here I remain, pacing to and fro
Several hours until the dawn of day

Weariness overcomes me now
I think I will try once more

Maybe I can catch a wink
Sleep will make tomorrow a better day
For another night will fall

I suspect but do not know
These sleepless nights are our reward
For having lived so long

Ah, my nights are long but I am not a floor pacer. I suppose you also read, write, work puzzles, play music, watch TV, eat too many snacks...Perhaps you are right and it is most certainly a reward when you can do it all without needing help from anyone except the Creator. Enjoyed the verse. Cynthia
