Premium MemberRefurbished Nursery Rhymes: Old MacDonald or Afoul of Vowels

Old MacDonald had a farm
With some noisy critters on it.
They mostly mooed, or neighed,
Or clucked, or brayed,
But some stayed
Resolutely mute,
I'm afraid.
It wasn't his equines,
Or bovines,
Or fowls,
Or anything lodged in his barns or corrals,
But a couple of rather recalcitrant vowels.
The "e" and the "i" and the "o"
Answered the call,
While the "a" and the "u"
Stayed conspicuously AWOL.

Premium MemberSong of The Saola Asian Unicorn No 6: ABAB

Paints and films of death grow; signs of our times,
crowning rundown; the Asian Unicorns.
Rare large mammals, forest-dwelling bovines,
with nearly two feet long parallel horns.
They're found in central Vietnam and Laos,
adults reach up to thirty-three inches
up to shoulder height. Captive breeds rehouse
like schemes, lacks hope as they're on the fringes
of extinction. The poverty levels
are high in the region, local support
are tough. Technical and medical specials
aid base programs and worldwide food import.
The two hundred-twenty pound primary,
famine ... charities ... complementary.

Premium MemberGreat Grandmas Cow Pillow

great grandma Suzette loved cows,
her house was decorated in a variety of bovines.
Jersey cows, milk cows, angus cows, dairy cows,
her living room was filled with cows, bulls, horns and cowbells.

grandma Suzette would take her favorites aside one at a time
and promise us her favorite cow pillow.
she promised it to two cousins, Aunt Linda,
Linda’s son and one grandson-in-law.
we all promised to take care of it.

we pretended we would be thrilled to receive it.
It had blue rickrack around the outside and was one of a kind.
I am pretty sure one of her relatives made it.
when she left this earth, she ended up taking it with her.
we put it into her coffin, it seemed fitting.

Almighty

With eyelids closed, it seems that nothing more remains
Other than the almost inaudible sound of breathing
But inside, there is continuous beating of the lonely heart
With both eyes open, the universe comes under our gaze
Every object... the humans, bovines, birds….
Tree branches gyrating in air
Objects filling up the open and underground space
If nothing else, then there is always the swinging air
Sometimes, a faint voice hits my ears
Who is running all this
Why, and from where
Directing the entire universe with full control
Without any visible clutch or gears
Is that how the concept of God, the Almighty was born?

Celestial Appetite

What do you suppose a star eats for breakfast?
I have always thought that Cheerios make perfect sense
but then again, they must get the flickering just right
I hear a healthy heart is not ideal for bouts of irregular motion

At any rate a breakfast cereal would be in order
there is no shortage of milk in space
as any child could remind you that certain bovines
have a proclivity for hurdling the moon

Nevertheless the question stands
without reasonable means to ascertain an answer

Manages to stir the side of me that
clings to a line of poetry
debates the proper way to walk
listens to the protests of plants cropping up through the cracks in cement

And dares to wonder then
what stars might eat for lunch

The Losing

The losing

It was a magnificent bull it dominated
and cowed any upstart bull trying to flirt with his bovines
there was a lean bull that refused to be chased off the field
it came to blows, at first it looked like the big bull
would win, but it lacked stamina, defeated it walked to the
stables the humiliation was all too much
and it refused to come out until the farmer gave it a bar
of chocolate with nuts.
The bull told itself OK, So I lost, but I´m still the biggest oxen
around this neighborhood.

A Taste of Texas

Texas has been kind to me;
You have to understand.
In the state of Texas;
Is where I found my man.

They raise a lot of cattle,
Bovines large beyond belief.
I think this is the reason;
That Texans love their beef.

You grind it and you pound it,
Most any cut will do.
Then brown it in a big old pot;
Add onion when you're through.

Cook down with red tomatoes,
And lots of chili powder;
Add garlic, salt and pepper.
Then simmer for an hour.

I like Texas Chili
I always add some beans,
Not everybody's favorite
But better than it seems.

Texas has been kind to me;
So do not be forlorn;
In the state of Texas,
Is where my son was born.

Please let me just reflect a bit;
And wax a little silly.
Texas has been kind to me,
And I like Texas Chile.

Seeing Red

If you keep spitting lines
Gonna need a katana to cut through
All of your dropping du bovines
You wipe me off of your shoe
While I measure you up
For your funeral fashion debut
Upon my fist you shall sup
Come on read me the signs
Can't keep breaking them in two
Your lack berry whines
Shall loose your teeth a few

-------------
I was in a bad mood so I took a few minutes to spit this out. Enjoy

The Gold Man Sacks Rome Again

the stearn bear
ate the bull
as meat unto idols
    (the idle mammals
              of mammon
         on fence road)
the bags of king Midas filled
 as offense rose
the comstock lode
                         dropped
bovines into stockyards
and the slaughterhouse rules
 (u.s.) Pavlovian fools
