Premium Member When the Chips Are Down

Don't stop now, you're on a roll,
Trust your luck and seize the goal.
Make your play, climb each mountain,
Sip wine from a golden fountain.

Things look bright, when you're winning,
Helps create a new beginning.
Count your chips, when you're done,
Rest now under setting sun.

You're up again, at morning light,
It won't shine like it did last night.
Stoke that fire, feed it kindling,
Watch your fortune slowly dwindling.

One more chance, you made the call,
Shoved it in and bet it all.
Things look bleak, no place to roam,
Now penniless and heading home.

bet it all
            in life to see
            if you were lucky...
            gave little,
            received nothing...
            you won it all ...
             lost everything,
            died without
            carrying nothing
            of yours... so
             you couldn't do anything...!

Confession

So I woke up
started to smoke up

that's when I choked up
tears rolling down my face

I get tired of all the hate
the hatred

lost love
you cannot replace it

this world that is lost
I would fight to breathe at any cost

mental stasis
human flaws like scribbled on pages

bet it all horse races
throw away the key to all the cages

after you unlock em
and set your mind free

changes. -TA

Premium Member Sue's Crazy Day -The Funom Sonnet

Sue sat on her big bed crying,
her cat and dog lay peacefully
on the rug. Her son lying
to her was sad. Thankfully
he is not a bad boy. Sighing
She did say to her dad sadly
her son was an ass! Smiling
she had a cup of tea quickly.
Sue was all on her own now -
she was fed up of men! Wow
Her old man was a sot - Somehow
he had got all the tax money
And bet it all on a bunny
It was not at all funny!

The Funom's Sonnet consists of 14 lines, each line made up of 7/8 syllabic word count. The rhyme pattern is in this form

The major unique feature of this new kind of sonnet is its words. Apart from the rhyming words, all other words in this poem should consist of not more than three letters

Gamblers All

Gamblers All
by Rick Rucker

Some gamble big, others small,
I can assure you, we're gamblers all.

Some bet it all on the roll of dice,
Others asking out a Woman, nice.

Bullfighters live on odds real slim,
That they stab the Bull, 'fore it stabs him!

Some drivers bet that a light, turning red,
Still means that it's clear ahead.

There is a growing faction,
That believes that Humans just love "action."

That it provides a narcotic thrill,
Strong as any drink, or pill!

So, when buying a chance to win a Rolls Royce,
It's in your genes, you have no choice!

Bam

FLAGS BLOWING,CARS PASSING,MOLD GROWING,CATS PURRING,DUST FALLING,NOTHING IS
EVER WHAT IT SEEMS.
LEAVES BLOWING,HORNS HONKING,F.E.D.S KNOCKING DOWN YOUR DOOR.
LAWYERS OVERRULED,EVERY PRISIONER SPORTING STATE BLUES.
PLAY TOO HANDS AND BET IT ALL SOONER OR LATER YOUR BLUFF THEY'LL CALL.
TWO OUTTA THREE AIN'T BAD BUT IT ONLY TAKES ONE TO MAKE YOU MAD.
I OBSERVE IN SILENCE TAKING IT ALL IN NOONE WILL WIN AT THE HAND OF SIN.
I PASS MY TIME WRITING RHYMES IRONICALLY PORTRAYING THE HANDS OF TIMES.
IETWEEN THE LINES YOU TAKE A BREATH CREDIT FOR LIFE TO AVOID DEATH.
NOTHINGS RIGHT WHEN YOU DO WRONGNEXT THING YOU KNOW ITS ALL GONE.
CHEST IS TIGHT IN THE NIGHT HIGH AS A KITE ON LIFE.
IN A SECOND IT WILL ALL CHANGE PROMISES MADE ARE SURE TO FADE.
WHATEVER WAS SAID WAS SAID TO DECIEVE TAKE HEAVE DONT BELIEVE RELAX AND GRIEVE.
GUNS WILL SHOOT BUT ONLY BLANKS AS I LOOK IN YOUR FACE I STATE MY CASE.

It' a Gamble

In the game of desire
never to old to play the fool
risking one's heart
on someone who may never love you

some are always willing
just looking for the chance
to gamble on a sunrise
bet it all on romance

Winning love forever
maybe for eternity
when one plays the game of desire
there's never any guarantee

Poker Face

Maybe it was for the best
That I lost the jackpot
That night
When we were foolish
young
Dreams in our eyes
New stack of cards
On the felt table
And I bet it all
I threw it in
For a chance
To love you
Once again

You know

I always carry an extra Ace
In my deck of cards
A King of Jacks
Baby baby baby

Do you see my hand?
Diamond shaped lies
Crimson colored heartfelt eyes
Raven hued secrets
A set of 5 fingered
Alibi’s

A Queen of Tricks
What
Is
Up my sleeve?

I’m done playing games
I’m throwing away my poker face

We’ve used the hand we’re dealt
The best way we knew how
Throwing a heartbeat on a dice

Just to lose it all
