Notes About The Poem

Sue's Crazy Day -The Funom Sonnet

Sue sat on her big bed crying, her cat and dog lay peacefully on the rug. Her son lying to her was sad. Thankfully he is not a bad boy. Sighing She did say to her dad sadly her son was an ass! Smiling she had a cup of tea quickly. Sue was all on her own now - she was fed up of men! Wow Her old man was a sot - Somehow he had got all the tax money And bet it all on a bunny It was not at all funny! The Funom's Sonnet consists of 14 lines, each line made up of 7/8 syllabic word count. The rhyme pattern is in this form The major unique feature of this new kind of sonnet is its words. Apart from the rhyming words, all other words in this poem should consist of not more than three letters a-b-a-b,a-b-a-b,c-c-c,d-d-d. Contest The Funom's Sonnet Sponsored by Funom Makama 03~27~16

The picture wouldn't load ... now I can see it ... perhaps my mind is in a weird place when "bunny" makes me think of "gold digger" ... a bit embarrassing there. This was funny.

LOL:-) I guess she could have been a bunny girl - great your imagination lead you to this idea:-) hugs Jan xx

"bet it all on a bunny" ... sounds like a gold-digger to me (unless this has something to do with Easter, of which I'm majorly misinterpreting ... !) Funom's Sonnet challenge both intrigues and intimidates me, Jan. Silent's single-syllable word challenge with Black and White was hard enough, but three LETTERS max? Yikes. Still you did a good job with the difficult restrictions, and I liked the second half best.

I found it a real challenge Timothy - glad you like the ending :-) to me that is the best part but it was so difficult with the syllable restriction to make much sense that is why I posted it as nonesense lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Just pic I found on the web that seemed to go with the poem - it was a struggle to write with such a restriction on the syllables so I was pleased that people seem to like it:-) hugs Jan xx

Yes I agree Andrea - managed to get my trademark humour in there lol- it is a struggle to get a decent flow with just 3 letter words but I managed the challenge:-) hugs Jan xx

Though losing money on a bunny probably wasn't funny, this tale of a funny bunny was. Well done. : ) J.

Thank J Tudor - it was quite a challenge to write this and get it to make some sort of sense with it being restricted to 3 letter words:-) hugs Jan xx
