Premium Member A Tear-Ful Conversation With My Daughter

It starts with only one -
one like me
a melancholy migrant
from the immortal part of her
to the locus of her physical being --
the center of her emotional wisdom

I gain heartfelt strength as I gather my forces
rising up en masse
riding cresting waves of woe
to breach the ramparts -
the welling rims
of her loving eyes

it starts with only one -
one perfectly ripened drop of sorrow
this beautifully packaged pain

and a lustrous cascade of soulful pearls ensues
wept gems pouring forth from a pure heart..

I am the tears your mother cries.

Poet's note; For my beautiful daughter, Jocelyn, you inspire me with your light, joy, spirited determination and intellect. Though your academic pursuits take you many, many miles away from me and I grieve your absence, when you return home I shall celebrate with tears of joy!
For today, however, I'll let my grieving tears speak for themselves...
I love you and I miss you, my Jocee <3

Premium Member Ecstasy

Exquisitely frail, a lone flute exhales, leaving this heart in a flutter

Cascading aloft, soft violins rise, from the flow of smooth silver rivers

Swelling the throat, sending spirits afloat on a sailboat of pure ecstasy

Transforming me now, through the mist all alone, where the music can take me away

A symphony of poems, transcends from above, where folklore and hope never ends

Soaring along, and honed from the heart, from the one who knew the divine

Yesterday's score, sublime as it is, takes me beyond today's shore

Premium Member Beneath the Shattered

Test me
I am willing
To fail

Failure
Is not fatal
At all

All things
Are born to be
Broken

Break free
From the outer
Hard shell

Shells can
Hide the beauty
Within

With love
Flowing freely
We glow

Glowing
For all the world
To see

Seeing
All the beauty
They smile

Smiling
Brings them pleasure
As well

Welling
Up from their soul
A gift

Gifted
To all who are
Shattered

I decided to call this a "Mussetle Train" try one out it is fun.
2 4 2 non rhyming take a word from the end of each stanza(car)
and use a derivative of it to form the premise of the next car in the train.

I am playing with a non rhyming vesion of the Musette form.
The last word of each stanza forms the premise of the next.

A gentle tickle belies the sadness
as the corner of my eye swells and my vision blurs.
The beauty and the joy fading from my mind,
the "what was" and "what could be"
but longing memories and lost dreams,
like fading shadows, of a wasted life,
and all that is left is the loneliness.

Lying alone lost in somber reverie,
the welling in my eye inches ever closer
to flooding past the impenetrable fortress
created by my, now, tightly shut lids,
the specters of my past slowly filling my unseeing eyes
with visions of all of the special moments
and the caring caresses that we once shared.

My lashes quiver and moisten as I breathe in deeply.
The words of love we breathlessly whispered
now only wisps of meaningless expiration
hidden among icy, broken emotional shards,
a million pieces of sharp frozen feelings
piercing so deeply inside of me, freezing what remains
of you in the deep crevices of my broken heart.

The tingle sharpens as the dam breaks,
one forlorn drop escaping slowly down my cheek,
meandering, lost, in the creases of my aged face.
I reach up to wipe it away, but can't
for everything I am, everything that is me,
everything that we were and could ever be,
I've set adrift inside of that tiny, tickling, forsaken tear.

Dwelling in twisted tulips of fate,
I'm etching life's blackened stars beneath
Vehement veil of thunderstruck twilight, for,
Obsidian tornados have crushed affectionate shorelines.
Remorseful roses now unfurl like love's last perfume and
Crestfallen silence nestles in eclipsed eden, sighing at the
End of our poetic lifelines - lost within timeless agony.

Premium Member I Hear Guitars A' Calling

I hear guitars a’ calling in the gloaming’s final fling
when sinking suns subdue their flames and fairies take to wing
as day departs, a yawning ash, beneath a dusky haze
igniting one by one the jewels of midnight’s diamond blaze.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the clouds within the skies,
with tunes which trill like welling tears from somber misting eyes
of misplaced muted homeless souls who drift alone in grief
beneath the silence of the stars that offers no relief.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the beat beneath her breast;
their murmur throbs with passion’s pulse and sensuous unrest
that rumbles deep in worried woods before impending storms
and splits the air in morning meadows, ere the sunrise warms.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the pitter-patter rain
which summons with a soothing sound upon my window pane
evoking bygone childhood dreams within a vagrant breeze
engulfing me in gusty swirls down misty vortices.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the waves on distant shores;
they’re crashing out a monody upon the mystic oars
of phantom ships within the dawn, like speckled caravels
a’ sail on seas of raven wings to moonlit citadels.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the morning’s reveilles;
they’re pouring fires in the skies and burning up the seas,
while waking flowers in the fields and setting trees ablaze,
and closing one by one the eyes of midnight’s starry gaze.

I hear guitars a’ calling in the deserts of my mind;
they’re nullifying hollow realms that time has left behind,
where pathless sands are blazing hot, the sun is set to die
and weary hounds are panting faint’, their tongues hung long and dry.

Premium Member Harmony, Humility and Helpfulness

There are times when I barely survive
The moments of melancholy and pain
Moments when I just have to cry out
With fears that make me feel beaten
Moments when I don’t know what to say
There are only heartbroken tears flowing

All I can do when I find myself feeling this way
Is reach out to the all knowing Son of God
When I listen for His instruction to find comfort
In the knowledge that He is with me, there in my heart
Carrying me through the very best and very worst
A Savior so true that I never need to doubt
I find that harmony becomes a true friend to me

There are times when pride seems to say to me
Lift up your head and take what you’ve won
Believe in yourself for you have all you need
There isn’t anything you can’t do if you agree
That the truth can be found in your own mind
Where knowledge has grown since you were young

All I know to do when I sense this pride welling up
Within my being, where there are so many sins,
I ask God to help me to know just what to do
To overcome this enemy of all He longs to do
Inside of me, where His voice sings of truth
Where honoring Him, is the answer to all I hope
Living with humility, the good Shepherd’s gift to me

There are times when I don’t feel so generous
I only think of myself and what I need to feel better
It is during those moments when I measure my success
By the lies spoken by my enemy, the one who I despise
And, with time, God takes me through the worst
To delight me with a answer to all that I must yearn for
The helpfulness that beckons me to give of myself.

Through it all, the good, the bad, the best
I find purpose in harmony, humility and helpfulness
These three remind me that I am God’s child
Someone who lives to be used by His hand
To be a blessing to whoever I possibly can
These three, harmony, humility and helpfulness
Are gifts to me, sent from God’s Holy Spirit

Premium Member Broken

I replay the cold goodbye in my mind
spoken in harsh tones
from the same lips that once said
   "I love you"
over and over in a relentless circle
causing all the stars to vanish
as the night becomes blacker than black

tendrils of slithering loneliness
wrap around my heart suffocating me
   with pain-filled emotions
as they die one layer at a time
drowning my soul in teardrops of madness
long streams from raw eyes
turn my face into a wetter canvas
   it burns and burns
my hearts shattered shards are covered in ashes
   that cling
I fall, pounding my fists into the ground
crying out in this world of darkness
   nothing exists
the only sound I hear is my own gasps
welling up in my chest, releasing into the void
where I surrender to the longest night
   filled with pain

Premium Member Be Quiet

Be
quiet
my Pumpkin,
it's not your turn.
"But Daddy, why not?"
Her look filled with desire.
Hair aflame and golden eyes
the roller coaster beckoning.
She shows no fear, she is only five ,
daddy's little girl, so eager to please.
My only desire is to see her smile,
the love I have for her always there,
as time moves on and days go by
I watch her grow and live life.
Friends come and go, tears too!
Days pass by quickly,
soccer practice,
the school play,
(Faustus)
gone.
Now,
she looks
around her
to tomorrow,
her future awaits.
My only hope is to
help her through a bit longer.
How proud I am of who she is
as today we watch her graduate.
Eighteen now, eagerly spreading her wings.
Sticky are the tears welling in my eyes,
as I watch her walk off of the stage.
A kiss for her accomplishment,
congratulations I say.
Be quiet now Pumpkin
as I wipe her face.
You'll be OK
finally,
it's your
turn.

Demon In Plastic.

In grimed secluded alleyway’s it’s his key into the divine,
Believing deliverance has arrived while he walks this narrow line,

Those eyes begin seeing reality his mind now lucid has cleared,
The truth’s of his past now a cacophony welling up within perfect ears,

Numbing out his nervous system a blind faith blanketed brain,
Sporadic lighting of violent flashes lost within his mind deranged,

Everything once believed assured now snippets of a life long elapsed,
Consigning his soul to valueless spirits his self worth allowed to collapse,

Without destination a wandering shell conforming to push through the days,
Ignoring the voices of pleas and salvation sinking farther within mired haze,

Memories taunting of mandible grasps devouring slowly his will to survive,
Nightmares convulsing those hideous features transforming beauty into
despised,

Shrinking in angst from real vindication devolving back where the journey began,
He ties off his arm inserting the needle releasing the demons inside once again.

Cherry blossoms stargaze as spring air comes;
East and west cross at Bells of Ireland: warm and calm;
Welling slowly to cede: tender sage thoughts,
Upon two hearts link, after hundreds of sought and fought.

Cathedral posts accent with ribbons of violets.
Congregate white orchids grin alongside the aisles,
Roseband sings tunes: forget-me-not to highest.
Wearing her lavender gown,Heather walks with smiles;

Clasp in her hands, tulip bouquet, guests she stun
Her Lilac in tuxedo waits: eyes locked tight in knot
Gentleness bestow from heavens, ever won
Their iris fuse glued; love radiating allot

Matching band's inscription: embroidered golden rings
Baby's breath, a grand wish soon very soon, will spring.

NOTE: All bold words are different flowers.. :) I always love flowers. I am always fascinated of their beauty and charm but more than these I am inspired by them: philosophically and emotionally as well ... :D

Premium Member The Crosses In Your Eyes

Wretched Stakes

I find in your eyes a mysterious universe
fraught with the searing scent of betrayal
and warped reflections of my reality
swirling in shadows of welling, yet un-shed tears.

Rummaging the tortured abyss for a glint of familiarity,
grasping to anchor myself in the alien terrain,
I'm awestruck by the requisite strength; your strength...
to survive among the crosses in your eyes.

Over the horizon a faint glimmer defies the gloom.
A hopeful star, fading but stalwart,
screams for love as it grapples the swallowing deep.
At last, I fathom the wretched stakes.

Premium Member Choosing Life

Eighty-four pounds at age 27
An illness nearly claimed my life
“You have an option,” the doctor said
But the choice was one that cut like a knife

“Pray for a miracle; linger in pain
Or negate any chance of having children”
My husband had died, my hope long since drained
In a sense I already felt barren

No way to rejoice, given such a choice
Knew I’d never feel like a real woman
So I sought guidance from my inner voice
Made the sign of the cross, said, “Amen”

“Do it,” I cried, tears welling in my eyes
My body dying, I saw no option
It seemed better than facing my demise
This was my darkest hour without question

Career struggles I faced in years ahead
And there was no man standing by my side
Empty within, faced the future with dread
Had I made the right choice? Still can’t decide

Perhaps a miracle would have occurred
I believe God watches over us all
But to a pain-free life I had deferred
Instead of trusting blessings would befall

Mad Love

Flash floods forecast hurrying steps and wheels ahead of foreboding clouds pregnant as eyelids welling with tears of baptismal rain to cleanse earth's skirt of its mire of blood and dust of blinding confusion with thunder of reproaches and flash of lightning clarity. I had been standing, gaze switching from red eye turning yellow to the traffic slowly rolling in one lane, in the next
a car came speeding forward unaware of the pedestrian, head down, hurrying into its path. In an instant making eternity: Rainbow splendor!

slow car swerving right
blocks car missing collision
saving the man's life
