Carpet of Colour

The long years are harsh where the hot sun does burn
on the sand hills and plains when seasons won’t turn
where saltbush and samphire do somehow survive
and through these hot days there seems little alive.

But shade in the she-oaks can offer relief
for creatures surviving who still hold belief
the outback’s not dying though is tinder dry…
then cotton-wool clouds start to build in the sky.

And when it gets humid and balmy at night
the sunrise is red with the new dawning light
and leaves get up dancing and float on the breeze
ants start to scurry and thunder does tease.

There’s change on the way and a scent in the air
and storm birds are singing to make all aware
that drought may be over and soon there’ll be rain
the outback will flourish ‘til drought comes again.

Now pastel pink earth starts to darken to red
as it quenches it’s thirst on the deluge ahead
the creek beds awake from their slumber for years
and billabongs form behind quick rising weirs.

The pans and the lowlands are holding their fill
and outstation tanks are now starting to spill
so comes a new dawn from a heartbreaking scene
when almost like magic the land turns to green.

Where a land is vindictive and can be unkind
where water is life, and with man undermined
where vastness is changing from sleeping repose
the buds are now bursting and now they disclose…

…a rainbow that travels so long with the eye
in a landscape rebirth, to thanks from the sky
I’m taking a stroll through a live daisy chain
in a carpet of colour that follows the rain.

Dear Diary (Dying)

Maybe this can't be saved.

One more short year and I'll never see her again. I'll always be wondering about
her but it's better left that way. Never been able to face the truth. Even now.

We were all each other needed, some childish indestructable duo of sorts. All
gone.

Sometimes it's my fault. I've been a cliche since prom night when she came over
and apologised and suddenly she was perfection. After that I hardly spoke
around her in case I stuttered or worse, couldn't make her laugh. Was I in love? If
I was I still am. This intolerable inferiority complex, this petrified fear of not being
good enough feels all too familiar.

Don't think there was one moment when it all happened, but now I find myself
smiling arduously in black armour; all that she made me once again
undermined. I called her my mermaid; sunny skin, the beach in her hair and eyes
shining with all the colours and tempers of the ocean.

Now she's hacked away every detail of her. Barely recognisable, even to the one
who used to know her best.

There's a girl I still know, dancing through my memories, but already clinging to
herself, desperate to remain. She knows she can't stay forever.

We're not the people we were; this can never work.

Today I'm hiding behind a calm and carefree front; she can never know, nor
understand why. I'm blocking her out.
Out of sight, out of mind
No explanation. We were dying anyway.
But if she asks why I can't see her anymore
How can I even look her in the face?
If that's selfish then at last it's my turn.

I miss her even when we're locked in embrace. Affection is genuine. All else is
lost. She can't save us, can't put in the effort. I've tried but I'm weak. Another
excuse to take cover under.

I can't change her back. Why am I trying? I should just make the most of my
precious friend now.

A little more of her slips away every day.

Mined Mind

Surprise ties to realization binds me to lies and the truth of who I am and where I've
been. The slim chance that I might be is whimsicle at best but the rest of the story is
told in storey by storey by molding life into what makes sense. Intense. I can't blend
the cold oil and water, just watch it pretend to get along. Prince's prints on my soul just
hint of stature but not of purpose, not of plan. Not damnation or salvation but salvaging
what can be, for whatever will be, sera. Merlin is not pleased by this pattern of
discussion, so the percussion must change tempo and timber. The brass should ask the
opposite. Three foot strides in the ebb-tide can't subside or I'll be crucified as well. Are
you beside yourself as well? It's the way of my Suessesque rhetoric to make sensible
nonsense. Thence the mined mind is twice mine and I leave you entwined, or
undermined, as you prefer.

Premium Member The Foothills of Civil War

We're in the foothills of another civil war.
The divide between left and right is burning and widening.
They have we the people, distracted and divided.
What's right is wrong, what's wrong is right.

Peace undermined by rich squeaky mice
The silent behemoth of indifference.
The bent, dormant scales of justice.
The uneven eye of the media leviathan.

Universities raping our children's minds.
Impregnated with Stalin, Lenin, Putin, and Xi's dirty seeds.
What's right is wrong, what's wrong is right.
Slapping Lady Liberty in the mouth
with metal tongs of intolerance.
Cutting out tongues of free speech-
of religion-of differing opinion

The socialist/commies and pacifists wonder why
we the people dream upon high-caliber nights.
It's because mad clowns and liberty cleavers
are running amok in the government.

The elite and naive are emptying jails onto our streets.
Rabid dogs are defiling peace, warping our history.
Useful idiots are slicing the stars from old glory.
Always burning and cutting and reaping and running.
Never sitting-talking-loving -discussing-seeding.
The entitled and elite sitting smug in gated communities.

The war eagles are quickly awakening as arrogance sleeps.

Definition of a Woman

She is like words of thunder, a unique, intelligent, family oriented, physique human being
who sees life unseen, accomplish goals, and fulfill dreams, independent, daring, and will
stand her ground. She is bound to face situations, sexism, racism, and divism, stop
thinking' she is incompetent to handle world crisis for she was born with wisdom. So how
dare you look at her as a dainty flower frolicking in the air with no guidance or care,
where is the justice there? She has the right to do anything a man can do and better too,
cut her some slack and just have her back cause she will have yours. She will chose her
own destiny just give her respect and acknowledge her existence. Black, White, Hispanic
and Asian woman of all races stand together as one nation, powerful, mindful and proud as
Gods temple. Men praise her for she is the mother of our children, and the fruit of our
existence, and above most is to equal in Gods Creation. Even in the midst of her neglect
she still receives attention, affection and protection from the stereotype housewife, free
spirited lesbian, undermined ignorance. She is a feminist who screams for acceptance from
the hype, profiles, and styles. Her hands mold and feed the lands wisdom, inspiring
musicians, and most of all education, intelligent, elegant and polite. Truth is she is
beautiful even when battered, misused and treated cruel regardless of her hardship, the
burdens on her shoulders her soul lifts, and distinguished from a man her skin is thick
and rich, blooming from the suns off her ********. She is unique specie, but despite her
complicatedness, outspokenness, and differences she will never go extinct. Think about it
men can't live with her, and damn sure can't live without her, because we know life
without her is like the earth without its five elements it can't exist. What she provides,
loves life and excitement in her studding essence. All the words in the Webster Dictionary
you still couldn't define her existence.

The Way We Were

Once isolated from the world
In tune with nature
Living day to day
Self sufficient

Thrust into a globalized world
New opportunities, open markets
Technological advances
Loss of control
Terrrorism
Disease

The pace of life quickens
Daylight hours changed
Individualism and accumulation
Destabilizing forces
Confusion, vulnerability

Our sense of wonder lost
Family structures undermined
Dependent on remittances

Change laps island shores
From all directions
East and west; old and new;
Modernity and tradition
Fragments of culture scattered
Like pieces of a puzzle
Understood only when the last piece
Is put in place

Attention Animal Lovers

The Endangered Species Act
referred to as The ESA
is currently having problems
that may not go away.

Several species of wildlife
many a beautiful beast
Could very well become extinct
they're endangered to say the least!

Culprits, don't really seem to care
but they're at fault it's true
Oil Companies, Loggers, Special Interest Groups
just to name a few!

Global warming destroys their habitat,
their ability to hunt and such
Urban and Agricultural development
also don't help that much.

The aforementioned culprits and others
have undermined the ESA.
Some endangered species were left off the list,
"conveniently" needless to say!

The Grizzly Bear and Bighorn Sheep,
the Jaguar and Whooping Crane,
the Black Footed Ferret and Canada Lynx
are some that I can name.

All these animals are quite unique,
there's really quite an array.
So we all gotta do whatever we can
to support the ESA.

Words are Going Missing

Words are going missing……and no one seems to care!!
Red lined!! Redacted!!! Clandestinely subtracted!!

Their meanings have been undermined
to alter documents - long signed

cater to the lunacy
that altered words will set us free.

Words are being conjured…gene splicing gone awry
because our conversations may be heard by passersby,

someone may be offended
because our language wasn’t blended

certified as neutralized
words no longer “Super Sized”.

Words are being muffled….silenced by the mob
demanding that we serve them – fresh corn- without the cob.

Words are being “weaponized” – the arming of perception
a conversational “Cold War” – exchanges of deception.

Words are going missing……gaps upon the pages
trapped within this horror…….a poet’s heart still rages.

We see the distraction clearly
Thinkers research hidden truth
Exposing false values where moral ground stands priceless

Workers are slaves chained to the elitist purse
Not paid exploited by a few fact remains
Kept under control by the bankers

Mayer Amschel Rothschild said these words
Let me issue and control a nation's money
and I care not who writes the law
Have we as a planet become so brainwashed

Government is hiding facts robbing us blind
throwing us to the streets using our tax money
to pay bonuses to these so called robbers

Destroying countries without logic
through their actions all the time lying
creating more taxes

Thinking we are ignorant uneducated
I blame the hardships our world is going through
on the bankers and their cowboys

Who can buy soldiers or countries
World leaders are now all corrupt
with a lot of secret deals in their closets

They no longer stand with the people
Watching suffering every single day
Homeless rising we are all brothers and sisters

Our democracy is being undermined
Wake up and smell the roses
Ceasear's law is being enforced

Very few people smile these days
burdened by debts manipulated with low wages
Keeping the working class down

Society becomes a place of total control
a playground for the rich creating chaos
through war games keeping our eye on their goal

Humanity

Your abundant display of floccinaucinihilipilification
Has been established from the time of conception
Like a rotten fruit shaken to its kinetic destination
Is this not what the world expects from this generation?

Beaten into submission by the depreciation of individuality
We have conformed to the ‘it’s all about me’ mantra of impartiality
Boldly pusillanimous which enhances our real appearance of frailty
Covered up by the tinseled boulder of youthfully exuberant gaity

Just like the Quakers decided we were the ignorant ideal in their initial determinism
Then soon conveniently revised it in keeping with exhibition of popular barbarianism
You and I have been fickle in our choice which has down played truth of expressionism
Being on the fence has undermined our value; oh if only we embraced humanitarianism

Pecking its way out of the golden light
Songbirds arise non-feathered when they hatch
Feathered wings lift them high in upward flight
Crested larks lay colourful eggs that match

Aeronautical flying birds in love
In the air, romancing like Valentines
Returning to where they were quite beloved
Where their hearts weren't always undermined

I know you do verily love the uplift
Even when your spirit flies to the bayside
Where imagination soars adrift
While I'm trekking on with my mighty hindsight

Bright light flies from the summits each morning
A reddish glow adorns those summits, recording:

Alpenglow!

Character Sketch of Me

Born in Cincinnati that buckeye state
January 13th 1959 – 57+ years to date
A tangle of arms & legs testing lungs, which sounded great
He kind of resembled a misshapen octopus with oval pate
Glowering inxs of deep purple from blue mood being irate
Thrust out the womb of Harriet Harris whom Boyce did date
After courting this youngest Kuritsky kin whose ill-fate
Whisked by grim reaper, which demise she did hate
For her being imbued with vim and vinegar til illness ate
Away her je nais sais quois personable maternal trait
Evident during my boyhood reflected by her son of late
As he too inches closer to his mortality and Hades gate
Aware that each day ought to be cherished as the rate
Of time courses down that zip line where grim reaper does wait
Attired in brand name hoodie swinging scythe across oblate
Spheroid i.e. terrestrial firmament – though many years some great
Yet to be lived – trying to recapture childhood bliss before freight
Train on a collision course toward self-destruction ala tete a tete
With Anorexia Nervosa as thy then coveted deadly mate
A brutal hellish spiral down into abysmal depths of despair did create
Indelible psychological affects undermined existence I now equate
writ horrendous emotional, physical and social upon head of mate
Pledged his troth (almost 2 decades ago), which spouse doth berate
For lack of expressed concern and attests schizoid psychic slate
irrevocably seared and stunted natural development where I rate
prepubescent, early adulthood mental illness did grate
Against once boisterously playful innocent boy crushed potentate
Only male heir from me deceased mother who tried to extirpate
Mailer daemons who forged suicide pact and via voice did dictate
Albeit without success, yet decry forsaken innate
Experiences with female relationships lured my own poisoned bait!

Premium Member That This Beauty

Many take her for granted this beauty seen in our skies
Isn't she such a wonder for us she'll never despise

She glows when we are weakened by life's travesties
No matter our human gloom, she's there for us to see

Take a look back to her past, view her strife her life
Being battered by her neighbours, leaving her rife

Look to the scars she bears, whom does she declare
She never ever will, but do we humans really care

History has shown, to her out reach we shall travel
Into her out there black, shall we ever ever unravel

It'll take some years, but eventually we will find
I only hope and pray, that this beauty isn't undermined

I Am a Woman

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined.
I am powerful and fierce.
I am the pure golden baby and the lioness that hunts.
I am a girl with ashy blonde hair and blue eyes, the perfect woman as many would say, but I desire to be more.
I know I am more than a prize; I am a gift only given to those who ache for me.
I am intelligent and beautiful, but not the way that you would see me.
I am deep and residual. I echo in the streets.

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined.
Look into me, not just at me.
See the pain I have been through and appreciate things about me I never knew.
Look at the things I strive to be: the strong woman, the fearless woman, the earth-shattering woman.
I am only as good as I think myself to be.

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined.
I will wear whatever I please and expect the same service and respect as any, whether I’m asking for it or not.
Look at me, my hands are softer than yours but have been through just as much.
I am a human being, I live and breathe the same as you.

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined.
I am the student sitting next to you, earning my place.
I am the mother in the next booth over with two crying children in her lap.
I am your equal, and I am not to be confused with anything less.
My strength comes in the way I comfort and my unpredictability.
Yes, I am a woman, but I am not weak and fragile.

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined, but I am not hard and cold.
I ache for a sense of belonging, for something to grind against the softer parts of my heart.
I am intense, but I am not ruthless.
And I am more often than not moody and unstable but love me, despite it.

I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined, because so often it is.
I am smart, sexy and worth it.
I am a woman and I am tired,
tired of explaining and justifying myself.
I am a woman and I am exhilarating.
I am a woman and I will not have my femininity undermined.
