Premium Member ugly gray rock -

an ugly gray rock, so I kicked it along
amused by my memories, humming a song
it was jagged and rough - I gave it no mind
and punted it thrice, then left it behind …

I changed up my hum and walked on alone
not thinking it special, (it WAS just a stone)
yet the farther I got from where it had been
the more I considered that "plain" rock
       again

something about its proportions or form
contrasted just slightly, was not quite the
       norm
the way that it tumbled, or lay there, just SO
or maybe the way it had bounced off my
       toe

whatever it was, I could not quite discern
but decided right then, it was worth a
       return
so, I spun myself 'round, headed back to
       that spot
still not sure of WHY - just a feeling I got

but when I returned, it had broken in two -
an incredible OPAL flamed red, green and
       blue!
scant had I known just what "ugly" could
       hold -
all the prismatic colors that smoldered,
       untold!

   well …

I couldn't help think that a lesson was there
of the plain folks we see, that we pass,
       unaware
for they are more precious than any gray
       stone
with such wonders inside - yet we leave
       them alone

perhaps if we gave them a wink or a grin
we might find the bright of their beauty
       WITHIN
the colors that light their charisma and
       grace
the complexion of charms that don’t show
       on a face

the places they’ve been or the roads they
       have run
their moonlight romances and days in the
       sun
the wealth of their spirit, their talents and
       rage
they’ve a story to tell, if we’d just turn the
       page

so, I keep in my pocket, a piece of that rock
to help me recall what I learned on that walk
not to take "plain" for granted, or push folks
       aside
but instead, look for sparks of their fires …

   deep INSIDE.

Premium Member An Ugly World Truth

A faithless entity unhappiness coldly it turns the eyes around coils
breeding misery a vice with hate that consumes unconscious reality

Crawling underneath a thin veil of darkness
hiding within bitterness that licks the wounds

As a blindness burns one beggar in hell's soup boils
tortured by untruths morally shading absent light

Without His Holiness a soul never finds peace
just war without hope develops inside the ugliness

Your ass is slightly enlarged
Your hips are somewhat wide
You have wrinkles all over your thighs
You eyes they droop
Crows feet shoot me dead
With your dreary eye stare
The world sees ugly, over due and despair

Your chest is a scar
Red and ripe, disfigured and bare
Your time is up
Old maiden of the past
Your saggy story makes you a sad lass

However not all is as it seems
Those passerby’s who seek no depth
They know not the secrets of innocent youth
They drink not from the water of the wise well

I see you, so clear I cry
Your smile, your laughter and you wonder why?
I have fallen for you, faults and all
For me it’s your beauty that stands so tall
You are a painting on a museum wall
Desired, your smile for sure does enthrall
Your voice sings to the heavens above
Your touch upon my heart melts my cold dark wounds
The lines I see upon your face
Each a sign of wisdom and grace

May I kiss that scar upon your chest?
May I confess you that scare is the door to your desires
A place I dreamed to live from the start
Let me dance, let me sing
You are my beauty, so let me in

Love letters flow, like grapes to wine
Silently we sway to and fro, passing time
In my veins you flow, you can not run away
Needless dances of insecure thoughts
If only, if only I could have this last Serenade

Prologue:

It takes a heart free of hate
to let go of a false ownership
to step beyond your fears
provide strangers a helping hand

It should be a pre-requirement
of possessing our largest organ
that which clothes a person’s frame

everyone should earn their coat of skin
defines them as humans
than we could easily separate and remove
the demons roam Earth disguised as people

they sat paralyzed
as various notes brushed lightly against their senses
eventually accompanied by bare traces of rain
stroked their faces with naked fingers
occupied their emptiness
with the welcomed whispers of music
spread their lips
leaving a lucent mark of bliss
on the bones of their cheeks
the melody
drew them into an imaginary reality
safe from the ugliness of their truth

“another day of hell on Earth”

(a hell willingly supplied by hollow frames reciting words from their Fiery Red God while hiding behind a faith they never understood)

temporarily frozen against the symmetry
of an angels canvas
they would breath the unabridged artistry
for a brief but satisfying moment
the musicians for the time being where their Gods
and they relished in the quenching fruits
filled their empty dreams
the simple beauty of song was undeniable

Epilogue:

It takes a heart free of hate

to step beyond your fears
provide strangers a helping hand

It should be a pre-requirement
of possessing our largest organ
that which clothes a person’s frame

Ugly Is Beautiful

The hideous wrinkles and folds
unmistakingly reveal the damage
that the harsh years had wrought,
all the battles waged and fought,
won and lost.

I look at her now sunken face,
beaten and badly weathered,
and there is no mistaking
a perfect beauty she was
not that many years ago.

She smiles, a hint of a dimple
peeking through the loose skin,
faint signs of high cheekbones
desperately wanting to be seen,
strong jaws chiseled on a face
that must have been stunning
when she was younger.

Alas, all her enviable perfections
the passage of the years wasted,
disfigured, marred beyond repair
by the envious hands of time.

While this ugly observer focuses
on her now terribly faded image,
with a smile I sigh without envy,
listening to a voice whispering:
the more beauty one possesses,
the greater is the loss in the end.

Time, the great equalizer!
Ugly from birth and ugly till death,
I can take it all with a hearty laugh
as there is not much I will give up,
for the years cannot take away
what from the start I never had.

Ah, ugly is much more preferable
and perfectly beautiful after all.

You Said I Was Ugly

You Said I Was Ugly

You said I was ugly, and I don't really give a damn or care
Why did you pick me, don't you know you're like a bear?
You said I was ugly, then why did you give me the stare?
I heard you say that night, you could have anyone woman
                                                     how do you dare?
You said I was ugly, even though you thought I was rare!
Rare like what, rare like an open book when a page tears
You said I was ugly, and sometimes I really don't care, there
Why did you pick me, don't you know you're like a cranky bear?
I remember that one night, you lovingly took me out
And I saw you making flirt with a woman who always danced
                                                                        about!
You said I was ugly, well maybe now I am telling you now I
                                     don't give a hootin' and a shout!

Ugly and Cheap

i may just have an ugly face.
i also maybe cheap
but i have made many "a man race"
as beauty is only skin deep.

i may not be as pretty as a picture
but i have often made a choice
and i may not be any richer
but there is love in my voice.

i may not have lovely clothes
but i can make love to you
and i may not be beautiful as a rose
but i know when love is true.

i may not have a beautiful body
but it is still kept on view
and i may not be small and often in the nuddy
but my affections are on cue

so if you rate your love on looks alone
i think I'll just leave and tarry
because you heart is colder than stone
your the type for me not to marry.

Ugly Poet

My poems are weak and the verse is lacking
And At this moment you're attacking
Correcting and dissecting
And inspecting it for flaws

You're reading it and bleeding it
And plotting superseding it
Of this I'm sure you're capable
And I salute you all

While sitting here and writing this
It brought me tender happiness
The words were dancing fairies
stomping circles through my head

The letters started whirling
Then swirling and twirling
And stacked themselves in patterns
forming combos in their stead

These markings joined with others
As I pressed on with a shutter
Which direction was this leading?
I was eager to discover!

And in time I surely found it
And was pleasantly astounded
How the lines had stacked together
and the meaning that surrounded

Something Beautiful Something Ugly

Something beautiful, something ugly

Something beautiful trapped inside a black hole;
The monster is feeding and swallowing hope.
It’s swallowing souls as its fingers hold,
Us down by our throats and it will never let go.

Something beautiful, something ugly;
Someone to love, when fear has a grip on me.
Let it go and rise once more!
Kick down the exit door and once more feel the warmth.

Been cold so long, I have forgotten the heat,
As strangers meet;
They soon disappear and become a friend or a lover.

After walking alone down barren streets,
With no knowledge of what it is we should seek;
Until we find a love we have always needed to discover.

Something beautiful hidden beneath;
Something ugly, plain for all to see.
Give them all a remedy and allow them to see beauty.
Misery is surely ugly;
Bitterness seeks the incomplete.

Wondering how to become complete;
Lacking good will, detesting humanity.
Something beautiful, something ugly;
We are human. Words are used without dignity.

Something beautiful, something ugly;
We are all humane and we are at war with ourselves.
Destroy the fiend you call your friend;
Because when the time comes, they will offer you no help.

Something ugly, something beautiful;
The pain has been removed, so you can fly high now people.
Age is a thief; time is not your friend.
We are condemned to lose our beauty and become ugly in the end.

Ugly Praise

O POVERTY!
You who paid a courtesy call to that peacefull affluence home
With a diamond portfolio
And at your departure enquiry unveiled it a Pandora's box
That the son turned rebel against the father
And the daughter hearken no more to mother's rebuke
O poverty!
You, who dragged that man of irrationality to the court of nature,
And there in gave him an ignoble defeat.
O poverty!
You apprehended that woman of extravagancy tortured her
And taught her the lesson of frugality
O poverty!
Your fruit is sour, insipid and intoxicating.
The man who live by it for long jeopardizes his span
O poverty!
He who accommodates you accommodates sorrow
He who embraces you beckons doom
O poverty!
You, who vandalize a whole land without a nuclear explosion
And pour water of tears onto that healthy face
Having robed off her hope.
O poverty!
You silenced that wise retched man in the gathering of the intellectual
And gave that rich fool the privilege of giberish.
O poverty!
You, who strikes your victim with a sword of broken heart,
The one who compete a path with you mocks his life
For no offence in calling you one of the sibblings of death.

Bully

BULLY
Who is the girl with the cricked teeth, she doesn’t deserve to smile
She is the type of person who needs to stay in and marinate for awhile
She needs to do something with that nappy hair looking like Diana Ross
Because damn, if life was a beauty contest, she automatically loss
I don’t know who her family is but she definitely got the ugly gene
She wears the same clothes everyday and she lacks personal hygiene
She has no friends and no one even acts like she exist
So she should be glad I’m giving her recognition and writing this
On the bus we make fun of her, the whole way to her house
She doesn’t even talk back, she is just as quiet as a mouse
We love to see her cry because maybe it will wash the dirt off her face
We always throw a paper bag over her head anyways, just in case
We like to throw food at her in the lunch room to give her some flavor
And we throw her downstairs so she can die but we do it to her as a favor
However, she took the last bit of abuse from us and showed us bullying wasn’t fun
Because she was after us today, when she showed up to school with a loaded gun
I never wanted to be a bully, I just wanted to be popular and that is my confession
Needless to say, I will never bully anybody again, she taught me my lesson

Premium Member Ugly People

Who are the ugly people?
I cannot really see
Your nose is a tad wonky
But seems perfectly shaped to me

Who are the ugly people?
Perhaps the way you stroll
Is not quite catwalk ready
But you have ambulatory soul

Who are the ugly people?
Your hair it whisps and flies
And yet I see the beauty
Hidden there behind your eyes

Who are the ugly people?
If you stutter when you talk
I just hear words of kindness
Though the world may call you dork

Who are the ugly people?
Not the poets or the painters
It's the socials and the media
Determined they should taint us

Who are the ugly people?
Not the ones who try their best
But the judgement laden critics
Or the ones who just detest

Who are the ugly people?
Those who preen, pout or pretend?
For ugly is a choice we make
From inside, in the end

Ugly Words

Your words ripped her apart, you are beautiful but they judge her from afar, she walks around with a scarred heart. Her feelings of hating the world , her days of being tormented never led up. The feeling of abuse and abandonment has broken her heart. A knife through the back is how she felt living in the world, you are loved, but they keep on with their ugly words. The bridge she walks, they throw stones to knock her off, why am I so hated in the world?

A look into the mirror she wishes it shatters apart, her hate grow more for the world. The acts of bullying kills the heart, your ugly words wasn't funny at all.
Words can break you, makes you feel low about yourself. Your words can become a beast to somebody thoughts, the sword of the tongue can kill you. Where is the beauty of your words, like a Georgia peach, let your words be sweet to the world. Ugly words kills the heart.
