She is many things,
like what Spring brings to shivering wings,
creatures like us sing from her touch, fly to her much,
feeding from the everlasting song her beauty transmits,
Linda's face is always strong, sage, and sensuous
as a symbol of liberty that says to the fatigued free thinker
you have more to achieve, to believe,
don't rest until you've won, trust in now,
PD. is the perfect noun with the most,

unwise to show envy towards her
for she has earned all her roses & garlands
knows suffering more than most, throws inspiration to those in need
like a pelican weeps and swoons
in the blood of self sacrafice, loving us, telling us we're the fuss,
she'll cry with you and then shock One into strength,
slam boom bam you if you fail to admire her Divine Genius,
teaching by taking the first step,
I love Linda because she is the greatest I know,
the sweetest and the wisest in the show,
her feather teaches me, her heart reaches me,
Linda is my Sphinx,
giving heavenly links, expelling my jinx -

This write is dedicated to Linda, aka. Poet Destroyer, my Sphinx
for her birthday - she is ageless, and her life is a gift to me -
with love & respect - J.A.B.

Tumble, Twirl, With the Tidal Swirl

Come dance in the waters
that summer has warmed
amidst the froth of the seas
Hear the sighs that echo from tides
as the crescents ripple in breeze

Join the surfers
as they ride in on the waves
balancing bravely so tall
watch as their confidence grows so high
until showing off some do fall

It’s one enormous bath
with the plug left in
where people swim around in the quay
and in that huge sink, the ships sail in
with the goods coming home from away

See how the bathers go in for a dip
desperate to cool down in the sun
and children play sports
on the beach with new friends
running around with such fun

Last Crimson Swirl

Drowning in self degradation
Deliberate affliction is exacerbating
Crystalline facade dulling senses
Normalcy, forgetting our consensus

Score, decennary years within
point, swirling under skin
Finality, deaths creeping in
Exodus, my last syringe

Chocolate Swirl

Chocolate, nothing tastes better than rich creamy chocolate.
Such a delight. Brown chocolate skin woman how sweet you must be.
Such a savory treat brown chocolate skin woman.

The Whole Mad Swirl

I was out of control, spinning
on the whirligig of youth,
giddy to be caught
in what Kerouac called
"the whole mad swirl
of everything to come."
I didn't know what to expect.
I was ready for nothing
though I had spent years
in solitary confinement

with books, exams and degrees.
You would think I'd have learned
something about life as it is,
not as I wished it to be.
I went out on the street
to look for work
and was surprised to discover
no one spoke Old English
like Beowulf or Middle English
like the Wife of Bath.

An old professor told me
I talked the way
e.e. cummings wrote
and no one would hire me.
A few years later I married
a woman with several degrees.
She thought I was normal.
We had five kids in six years
and drove landlords bonkers.
"The Lord will provide,"

we said, and He did.
Fifty years later, the five kids
have rucksacks of their own
packed with jobs, marriages,
children and good lives
measured against
the standard of most.
Their mother is dead,
and like everyone else
on this strange planet

I am in the process
of dying in the jaws
of what Kerouac called
"the whole mad swirl
of everything to come."
I have seen almost all
of "everything to come"
except for the best part
and that, I am told,
will take my breath away.

In the labyrinth of my mind, thoughts swirl like shadows dancing on walls of mist,
Unanswered questions whisper in my ear, like autumn wind through dried leaves.
Am I a splash of color in the universe's painting, or just a pencil mark that can be erased?
The mirror of my soul reflects a fractured mosaic, each shard bearing a different face of my reality.
My friends are beacons in the night of doubt, illuminating the path to an unknown shore,
But the waves of my own fears mercilessly strike the rocks of confidence, slowly eroding each certainty.
Am I the one they see, or just a projection of their hopes, an illusion created from kindness?
Their words are seeds of light, but the soil of my heart is too barren to let them bloom.
Time flows like a mad river, carrying fragments of what I was and what I could become,
And I float on its turbid waters, clinging to twigs of hope hanging above.
Perhaps one day, when the sun rises over the horizon of self-understanding,
I'll be able to clearly see my face reflected in the clear mirror of acceptance.
Until then, I remain suspended between what I think I am and what others see in me,
A tightrope walker on the thin wire of existence, balancing between doubt and hope.
Perhaps the truth is neither in me nor in them, but somewhere in between, in the space between realities,
Where my authentic self waits to be discovered, like a treasure hidden in the depths of life's sea.

Lights Swirl

Lights swirl,
Bodies twirl,
Against an orchid sky,
Each open eye,
Sees the beauty in life,
Thrown away all strife,
To spend this time,

Swirl of the Brain

A weird combination of music
A strange mixture of thoughts
With a constant fluctuation of feelings
I sometimes question what I have sought
There is no replacement for some
And some just pass on by
With an execution of the present
I can forget about the past
By living in the moment
The future does come very fast
Many things are intangible
For these I should not be concerned
The ones I can grab
I will.
But not from thievery
Not from luck
Not as a gift
Yet from the grinding
Fun work
The work that I wake up for
Not many understand it
But I do.
With a heavy heart
I grow strong carrying it around.
