Morning Summons
By: Noel N. Villarosa
God’s morning summons
Placid sea and dawning sun
A walk in the sand
5th Place to Raul Moreno's Seascapes Contest: 2/28/2010
Cupids golden summons decreed
With secret aim silvered arrows speed
Linking hearts with passionate will
For loves hope to fulfill
With poetic verse loves sentiments dispence
with torrents of eloquence
And there engraved upon the heart
with firey darts loves secrets to
persuade unsuspecting hearts
With such grand felicity and clandestine charms
Eternal love is birthed in lovers arms
Intrepid pines dance
Wheeling their scent across the orchard
Discretely nurturing hope
Tiny Gift of love supernal,
Shepherd of our souls eternal;
Summon saints to heed the call
To share His birth with one and all.
Let full surrender be our goal
Whereby we steadfast, surely grow.
Mature the young and wounded saints
Who too ‘oft drink where sin doth taint.
Deliver hearts of hardened places
To tenderness and pardon’s graces.
Let servants rise as pride doth fall
When Christians heed the Infant’s call.
Journey there to kneel, to know
This friend who made the stable glow.
Be reverent and earnest there
To meet your Maker, humbled…fair.
Hear the summons, know His glory
Let the manger tell the story
Where God and man were reconciled
And death fell conquered by a Child.
It was late at night
Perhaps a little past midnight
When arrived at last to my quinsy little house
And unexpectedly I was greeted by my friend The Mouse.
He looked so delighted to see me once more after a long day again
He told me I have an important message from the Queen and her counsel-men
It seems there was something for me to share with all the fairies, leprechauns and gnomes
Dwarves, half-lings, trolls, elves, pixies and dragons too for a better way to teach the children from Fairyland their ABC.
The Fairy Queen was concerned and worry of late,
It seems in Fairyland they were not enough teacher candidates
To teach our Fairy Children all over the land how to read
She had noticed that parents were just too busy, about this they all agreed.
So, she's now organizing an emergency meeting for all in Fairyland to attend as soon as possible
She realizes that this and other problems cannot be by her anymore acceptable
A meeting is to take place after she has consulted it by tomorrow with me
Everybody is invited by the Fairy Queen herself to come to the Fairy Ball Auditorium.
The Queen is planning it seems a most wonderful Fairy Ball after her council with me its over
So honored I am to be invited by the Fairy Queen herself as I always have been
After all I am Nindo, King of the Forest Gnomes and her Royal Adviser and most devoted royal friend.
Its clear that I am expected anyway by royal duty and command to this party to attend.
So I better let you go and say here my goodnight to you since I got so much to do now
I am sending back right away a Thank You to the Queen with a letter of you know-how
With all this carry-on and excitement I am just looking forward to a goodnight sleep
Tomorrow at break down I shall see again my Fairy Queen and for Fairyland our cares to keep.
Off I am going now for a wonderful night rest
I want to look better tomorrow, to be my best!
So happy I am to live here in this enchanting place we all called Fairyland
So close to nature with all my Little People and with the beautiful Fairy Queen that to us all here commands.

*Stirring, stirring...*
Dellaroo stands, smiling over her pot,
Stirring up a potion, bubbling hot.
"Come one, come all!
It's time for a spiritual ball!"
She spews forth a chant, repeated in three.
She dances with joy, tickled with glee.
As the vapors rise, forms appear.
Her summons' been heard, far and near.
A wicked grin creeps across her face,
An assortment of spirits all over the place.
"Spirits come forth! Arise! Arise!
Come! Come! Reveal thyselves before my eyes!
Ghosts! Ghosts! Condense your matter.
Your chains create a melodic clatter.
Goblins and ghouls, conspire, contrive.
The hunt begins when you all arrive."
*Stirring, stirring...*
Dellaroo looks around, her heart aglee.
Piercing the veil of darkness she doth see.
So many eyes of perilous demise,
Each in their own unique disguise.
"Is everyone here? Practice your gloom.
Perfect your craft. The darkness consume.
The instillment of fright has begun,
As this haunting commences, bring on the fun!"
*Stirring, stirring...*
”The hour of twelve, ready, set, prowl.
The wolves, awakened, are starting to howl.
Go forth now. Frighten your best.
Many souls await you in your quest.
Utilize those closets and beds, underneath,
Perfect places to rattle and chatter your teeth.
Add some wailing moans, but don't call it quits,
‘Til you've scared all the living out of their wits!"
*Stirring, stirring...*

On a cloudless morning
I awoke to the incessant pounding on my door.
A firm voice on the other side.
A stranger calling my name.
He repeats his call.
Looking out, I see his stripes,
Boots shining brightly,
crisply pressed uniform.
Dread fills my soul
with trembling fingers
I unlock the door.
He asks for me by name.
I confirm.
With tears in his eyes
He tells me the worst.
Of how sorry he is to inform.
Of how I should be proud.
How our country has lost another
proud soldier in this fight.
I say thank you, tears fill my eyes
and I wonder how
I will tell her wife
that has no rights.
A Summons From the Neighborhood Association
By Elton Camp
Into Fred and Penny, the letter brought fear
The Neighborhood Association tells ‘em to appear
“To certain regulations you have agreed
To them, your addition seems to exceed.”
“These rules are for the benefit of all.
For removal and a fine, we may call.”
“With our decrees you must cooperate.
Towers and turrets we surely do hate.”
“So appear before us right away
If in this area you want to stay.”
“Your house we have a legal right to seize
And then do with it exactly as we please.”
“They have no taste at all,” said Fred
“I told you to check first,” Penny said
“Those dopes can’t tell me what to do.
With their silly rules I am through!”
Fred learned the term “binding agreement”
Still, of his defiance, refused to repent
On them, vengeance was soon wrought
And their place became an empty lot
The raven watches
Her pale hands softly conjure
A hushed spirit moans
Oh darling! the summons of the king
have called me to his court.
The king be pleased
if I be scorched.
The torch has mouths to feed.
Esteemed courtiers and the great lords
are in wait for me.
To wanting to witness
stripped naked my bare skin
lit in flames.
I was not convicted
of witchcraft,
nor did I perform black magic
but punished for someone elses' sins,
See my twisted kindness
of this miserable life,
I let myself burn
for the spectators pleasure.
All the dignitaries would talk of me,
about my two minutes of fame.
To be known while I am demanded by name,
walking the line of diction
of my unwritten heroism.
Mystical moon dancer who summons owls
Spinning her wild imaginative cleverness
Flowing amongst the rhinestone stars
Summoning the holy wise ones
Delighting heaven’s gatekeepers
Emoting words of love
Showering humanity with dainty hope
Frolicking in a frothy ethereal light
Pirouetting soulfully amongst the sky keepers
Mystical moon dancer who summons owls
"When I come for you resolutely,
Don't bend before my deadly summons.
Tarry not like a galery slave,
But like a courteous host behave."
Said death.
"When I come for you,
Never lie dreading under the dust.
Know it's only when the seeds rot
That the florid sprouts."
Said death.
"When I come for you,
Strut like an indomitable foe.
With hands swinging and head held high,
To be welcomed by the angles of sky."
“A SUMMONS TO LIFE”
ripped from existence,
ripped from insanity,
ripped of fatherhood,
the early morning derelict
holds life free of charge.
appalled at the leverage
the female voice carries.
appalled at how much
female tears can change.
I’ve been placed at
Hell’s gate to fight my war,
I’ve been placed at
Hell’s gate to fight my
own death.
they will try to murder
everything that kept me
from murdering myself.
my fight,
my death,
Hell will not take it from me.

Summons
drowsing, most coyly,
just beneath a placid mind
yearning, stirs a soul,
tearing it from all content
siren from afar…Petra calls.
Nay my preaty princes, he worries not of you
for he is like a breeze that is passing threw.
Often it will warm you or bring a shiver to your spine
remove the dust that's on you and clear the cobwebs in your mind.
With the moisture from his kiss he'll inject his love into your soul
remove the fears that shake you that to know one else you show.
He'll persuade you to confess the things that you desire
pull you from that pit where once you wallowed in the mire.
He'll challenge your contentions, change the nature of his shape
confuse you or amuse you, make you give what he can take.
He'll lay within your bosom as a man without a home
make you want to love him for you know that he's alone.
He is so many things, a nightmare or a dream
he'll make you laugh he'll make you cry, then he'll make you scream.
So never think you know him or the nature of his game
he's simply an existence that has so many names.
