The darken theater held them there they sat
she looking down and he looked out together
neither spoke, they came together but alone.

So many married years had passed each more alone.
She looked down and chatted on her phone, he sat
near me, we starred toward the movie together.

They never knew how sad they looked together
but all could see, and none envy, two alone.
I shook my head and sat silent as they sat,

side by side, they sat together, but alone.

Olivia Newton John
A stunning sex bomb
Starred in the film Grease
Talk of ‘ those pants’ never cease!

I wonder how she managed to dance
In skin-tight shiny black satin pants
At the sight of her tush
All the blokes turned to mush
And wanted to begin a romance!

For filming she’s sewn into her clothes
How she went to the toilet who knows!

Her pants sold at an auction in June
I bet the purchaser’s over the moon!

The Bleeding Sky

There’s a line of flapping, red-starred flags,
they wag their rags, as dogs wag their tails,
when the master’s home;

and the summer wind taunts their linen
crease; then takes them on a merry jaunt,
a widow’s pooch, in heat.

And up above the red-devilled street, a
dipping, flipping, swift-filled, livid high;

counts flags, dogs and masters, sighing
swifts and bleeding sky.

Slaved Love of Anarkali

Her name was Anarkali,
an eloquent carnival of legendary beauty.
a dancer in the court of Emperor Akbar.
Deep russet rouge blushed her red,
a silky smile on her rosy peach cheeks
rich, sensual and seductive...
With the sweet scent of jasmine, and
festal moonlight of crystal starred sky,
the damsel danced her way to Salim's heart.
A charmed Prince reverberated in her dreams
in rhythm of a daisy swaying in his breeze.
Entranced in her emollient ecstasy
Captured in the cage of her beautiful eyes.
Love blossomed like a dazzling wildfire.

But a sinister callous world, was eager to kill.
Passion handcuffed by shackled royal ego,
Anarkali was sentenced to be entombed alive.
Behind a wall of stones and prison bars,
Blood still throbbed her myriad unseen scars.

As vibrant colors of a sunset blurred,
An enslaved moth danced to flames of death.
As chimes of Ghungroo* muffled in mutenes,
An enslaved soul emancipated in darkness.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anarkali in Urdu means Pomegranate blossoms
*Ghungroo is an ornament of bells worn as anklets by dancers.

The love story of Prince Salim ( Mughal Emperor Jahangir) and Anarkali is legendary.
Anarkali, also known as Nadira Begum, was a courtesan from Lahore in modern-day Pakistan. According to one of the stories, Anarkali had a relationship with the Crown Prince Jahangir and the Mughal Emperor Akbar had her enclosed in a wall where she died.

Premium Member The Smelly Troll

Our mayor was attacked out of town as he went for a peaceful little stroll.
There was an odor that wouldn’t go away, it was left by a pesty little troll.
Bullies come in all shapes and sizes, both male and female alike.
Here they are no longer tolerated, we will just stick your head on a pike.

I went for a short little stroll to check the perimeter outside of our town.
It appears that an old bitter troll left some puddles that are smelly and brown.
Maybe it was a drink with her father that gave her that extra little pep.
Those puddles could cause an infection, so watch each foot where you step.

Our mayor gave a call to old Wilbur, he’s a farmer who can shovel and dig.
He is pretty good at cleaning up messes, back at home he lives with a pig.
On the farm is a sign making spider, once famous but is now known as Jeb.
A few of you just might remember, he once starred in the famous Charlotte’s web.

Together they helped make a sign and then hung it by the Troll’s little shack.
It’s a reminder for this foul little creature, just be careful of who you attack.
Peace is once again restored in Soup Creek, that wretched smell is gone from our air.
Don’t mess with our good mayor Tom, he has friends who love him and care.

Premium Member Bringing Life To All

Thunder and lightning ruled the black night
As the frightened young mother struggled
Beads of sweat ran down her pretty face
The old midwife calmly sponged off sweat
She hummed a lullaby to soothe her pain
Praying that the husband would be back soon
Five miles to travel in treacherous weather
Seeking the one doctor for hundreds of miles
Twelve hours of labor now seemed like days.

Fell trees and shaved off roof tops, toppled by whipping winds
Rising rivers were swollen, and flooded make shift roads
Endless rain poured like there would be no end
Meanwhile her unborn child lay bridged as it battled for release
Suddenly the door burst open and the doctor rushed in
His clothes sticking to his skin; there was no time to change
With his palm he felt her forehead asking pertinent questions
He and the old midwife tried manually to turn the exhausted child
At each attempt, mother’s painful cry was heard in the distance
She gave one guttural scream and usherd her baby into the world
The child, born limp, barely breathing as the mid wife took her away

He starred into her eyes, and knew that she was beyond his help
He brought the new born to lie in her mother’s warm arms
The silence was noticeable; the raging storm had passed
The sound of light rain, now a comfort, gently tapped upon tin roof
In a soft, weak voice she called her husband and managed a smile
Then she blessed her child with words from a mother’s heart
“May you be a light, swift as lightning when days grow dark.”
“May you have wisdom and foresight beyond your days”
“May your heart nurture and remain open to love”
“Like rain, may you bring life to all “
“Born this stormy night, your name will be “Rain”.

My imagination took me to some little village in Africa. This scene is played out in
many villages where health care is non-existent. However, there's always, thanks
to God, a wise, caring "midwife" to help mothers during delivery.
Everyday, countless miracles are performed by God through "midwives"!

Premium Member In the Aftermath of Love and Tragedy: Heloise and Abelard

"Then there is no more left but this, that
in our doom the sorrow yet to come shall be no less
than the love we two have already known"
(Words of Heloise to Abelard after her pregnancy)

Like moon on nights of skies un-starred
she lived without her Abelard.
A parched still plain was Heloise -
like moon on nights of skies un-starred.
In death she would not lose regard
for him who’d been her rain and breeze.
Like moon on nights of skies un-starred,
she lived without her Abelard.

When Abelard put love away,
with Church he mightily aligned.
The world was not like ours today
when Abelard put love away.
Not even Heloise could say
were she to often cross his mind.
When Abelard put love away,
with Church he mightily aligned.

Dedicated to one of my favorite actors, Morgan Freeman

“Driving Miss Daisy” was driving him crazy
So old Morgan Freeman assumed a new role
It proved much more fun next to Jack Nicholson
“Bucket List” jumping through an atmosphere cool

With Brad Pitt, a rookie wed to a cookie,
The “Seven” most deadly sins unfolded
But as “Robin Hood’s” friend, the laughs didn’t end
And the “Spider” never bothered him a tad

Yes, this Oscar winner proved he’s no sinner
   Playing Nelson Mandela in “Invictus”
What more can I say than how I dread the day
When the silver screen is Morgan Freemanless

For each aging actor time’s soon a factor
We bid Newman, Fonda and Stewart farewell
For me there won’t be one more gifted than he
With such a “Deep Impact,” shoes too big to fill

* Along Came a Spider, Driving Miss Daisy, The Bucket List, Seven, Robin Hood,
Prince of Thieves (Kevin Costner version), Invictus and Deep Impact are but a few
of the many movies in which Morgan Freeman starred.

Premium Member We Can Dream On

It used to be that many dreamed.
At least that is the way it seemed.
But that was more than a few years ago now.
A good life in which we all starred;
a house with fence around the yard:
The dream which the hard-working man could strive for. . .

Chorus:
We can dream on; we can dream on.
We can dream on; we can dream on.

We only had to go to school,
Be sure to follow every rule,
like paying toward our own security plan
with special taxes all must pay.
They rise; we pay them anyway,
believing we’ll get by in our great gold years

Chorus:
We can dream on; we can dream on. . .

In years when wars were being fought,
The dream, still strong, was being sought,
by Veterans returning to their loved ones.
Prosperity came after war,
for everyone kept wanting more,
so things improved, at least as I recall them. . .

Chorus: We can dream on; we can dream on. . .

The kids who went to college would
then graduate and as they should,
could work in their profession, raise their families.
Eventually they’d have a house
and growing older with their spouse,
look forward to retirement, their home paid for. . .

Chorus: We can dream on; we can dream on. . .

Retirement funds in just one year
ran dry and CEO’s, I hear,
got bonuses while laying off their workers.
Young graduates cannot find work
and horrors round each corner lurk
for those who lose their jobs and source of income.

Chorus: We can dream on; we can dream on. . .

Today we have to buckle down
and try hard not to show a frown
while searching for a job that pays less money
while politicians talk their talk
but don’t know how to walk the walk,
and sit there making sure they get their raises!

Chorus: We can dream on; we can dream on. . .

The Congress just keeps playing dumb
And half the country has gone numb
while stressing over what’s in store for us now
because of lies that we were told,
like how we’d live when we got old.
“Dream on” I say (but not in Mama’s same tone).

Chorus: We can dream ON; We can dream ON. . .

Kris Kringle Kisses Kalliope

"Kris Kringle Kisses Kalliope"

A Dream: the 4th Christmas.

deck the halls
with memories
poets whisper pasts
that are ne’er forgotten

where presents
a life
that’s neatly wrapped
and attempts at

frostily forgotten

tucked under
that big
beautiful
green fir tree

where all the dreams
of poets go
gold starred, tinselled
and angel mounted

ripe cherries
kissed
crassly
under mistletoe

Ah Christmas
capture me up
in your safe
magic arms

let me sip
the nectar from
your sweet eggnog cups
like Puck’s flower flows

on sultry lips
and eyelids
“love-in-idleness”
"The juice of it

on sleeping eyelids laid
will make man
or woman
madly dote

upon the next
live creature
that it sees”
poet or pup

crimson berries crushed
against a velvet tongue
bedazzled and
bewitched

fires crackling
logs like legs
drop and wrap around
the flames

while in my dreams
I await beneath
the sugar coated
blankets of a bed

charmed by snowflakes
dusting houses in a row
through misted windows
where “paper people....

dream
their cardboard dreams”

“how unreal
the whole thing seems
can we be living in a world
that is made of paper mache?

Everything is clean
and so neat
anything that is wrong
can be just swept away”

inside is very still...
not shaken
like a snowglobe -
surreal

damned be
the dams of
Love-in-Idleness
where eyes reflect

your shadow
in my dream
like opium smoke
across cracked glass

remember how we
all once were
some beautiful happy
if we could just pull the chord

so fresh out of ...
class

rewind our time
rewind it
to yesterday
like a toy

across the
ocean bobbing
like a buoy
an Iceberg keens and cries

Nutcracker twirls
Sugarplum
Kris Kringle Kisses
Kalliope

Oberon...

reals
Titania in
Slo mo’

Magic

mmm
Romance

lacy
frosty
melting
snow.

An iceberg cries
in time with
Christmas eyes

Tik Tok Lost Its Pace

Tik Tok Lost Its Pace

When you turned, I got a glimpse of your face,
And then time stopped for me, though you moved ahead...
When I resumed from there of that moment,
It's the playful thoughts only retained and it was so pleasant.....

Now that I'm recalling that moment,
giving words to those scene and events,
The chime of wind which then sing, When you turned back to me,
It Touched your face, blew your curly hairs, then revealed the pleasing face....
And then tik tik lost its pace.... Wou ou aa aa a...

I don't know why, you starred at me,
You spoke aloud or just smiled at me,
I don't understand you left no clues,
Or you blanked me out, no I was fused,
Now that I'm bringing back, to elicit yes I've to trace
Why tik tok lost its pace..... Wou ou aa aa a...

I remember those expressive eyes,
That sharp look like of a spy
I wonder how you adorned them
So blue they were like the sky of heaven,
Do they sing some cosmic song
Yeah it's a spell and it's so strong

So tik tok lost its pace...
So tik tok lost its pace...
So tik tok lost its pace...
So tik tok lost its pace...Wou ou aa aa a...

The Prophet and the Preacher

Brother Thomas was a preacher
Who knew the scriptures well.
He asked people to follow him,
And he'd save them from Hell.

One night while he was working late,
A man entered the church.
Brother Tom thought He was homeless,
Or on some kind of search.

The man was welcomed to the church,
A smile lit up Tom's face.
He said, if you seek salvation,
You've come to the right place.

This temple of God is Holy,
And I minister His word.
If you put your soul in my hands,
It will soar like a bird!

Those questions you've been burdened with,
Will prove a simple task.
I hold degrees in all of this,
You only have to ask.

But the man just starred right through him,
And then began to pray.
He said, "did I hear correctly,
In what I heard you say?"

"You have called this temple ‘Holy’,
Yet only God is so.
And you say you have the answers
That lost lambs need to know."

"Those degrees you so proudly wave
Were earned in schools of man.
But the heart was our Lord's classroom,
Since man's journey began."

"You claim to know what is the truth,
While pushing God aside.
And those, with whom you disagree,
You censor or deride."

"To follow the road to Heaven
A soul must walk alone.
How can you say you know my path,
When you don't know your own?"

Brother Thomas became angry,
Demanding that He leave.
You cannot come into my house
Intending to deceive!

"As you wish" proclaimed the stranger,
"You've asked me to depart.
But don't forget what I have said,
Let it grow in your heart."

And when He turned to waved goodbye,
Tom spied the stranger's hands.
He saw the scars, and heard Him say;
"Your Father understands."
