"Kris Kringle Kisses Kalliope" A Dream: the 4th Christmas.
deck the halls with memories poets whisper pasts that are ne’er forgotten where presents a life that’s neatly wrapped and attempts at frostily forgotten tucked under that big beautiful green fir tree where all the dreams of poets go gold starred, tinselled and angel mounted ripe cherries kissed crassly under mistletoe Ah Christmas capture me up in your safe magic arms let me sip the nectar from your sweet eggnog cups like Puck’s flower flows on sultry lips and eyelids “love-in-idleness” "The juice of it on sleeping eyelids laid will make man or woman madly dote upon the next live creature that it sees” poet or pup crimson berries crushed against a velvet tongue bedazzled and bewitched fires crackling logs like legs drop and wrap around the flames while in my dreams I await beneath the sugar coated blankets of a bed charmed by snowflakes dusting houses in a row through misted windows where “paper people.... dream their cardboard dreams” “how unreal the whole thing seems can we be living in a world that is made of paper mache? Everything is clean and so neat anything that is wrong can be just swept away” inside is very still... not shaken like a snowglobe - surreal damned be the dams of Love-in-Idleness where eyes reflect your shadow in my dream like opium smoke across cracked glass remember how we all once were some beautiful happy if we could just pull the chord so fresh out of ... class rewind our time rewind it to yesterday like a toy across the ocean bobbing like a buoy an Iceberg keens and cries Nutcracker twirls Sugarplum Kris Kringle Kisses Kalliope Oberon... reals Titania in Slo mo’ Magic mmm Romance lacy frosty melting snow. An iceberg cries in time with Christmas eyes (LadyLabyrinth/ 2020)

Christmas is magical for children who still dream of fairies and red nose reindeer, yet adults have turned it into a hollow bulb hanging from an artificial tree so they may leave the world they've created, trying to forget their creation, wishing they were children again...Merry Christmas...POET

Christmas, my dear friend, is SO VERY important for children. When they grow up, they will remember the true significance of it all. Was it for Jesus birth (those who practice the Christian religions who sanctify Jesus's birth), of course he was not born on the 25th December, but he was magic nevertheless in an ordinary man. Or was it for survival of their own lives and dreams. There are many cultures and religions that do not celebrate Christmas. But for children, there must always be magic and there must always be HOPE for a 'good' life and the achievement of their 'dreams'. Some children at this time of year are doing it extremely TOUGH due to war, hunger, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, child sexual abuse, loss of parents, sickness/life threatening disease, left 'wanting' through many and varied cultural and societal disfunctions.

As a child, like you, I had dreams. I am a hopeless romantic. Though some would debate that. As an adult, one dreams for the best at this time of year. Many are doing it tough and many who had dreams as children, remember Christmas for what it should be. Christmas is about - Love, Safety, Security, Family (for some), and definitely 'Giving' and 'Sharing'. For those who choose to be on their own, perhaps it is a time for peace and 'self-reflection'. For those who are on their own, but do not want to be on their own - you are never truly 'alone', you will be suprised. Just reach out. Trust you are well and much love to you and yours this Christmas. As always, your pal, L. x

I shall resurrect the Christmas tree, as per usual. Deck the Halls and cat.

that's right...the novelty was great but it was always then that I got the most homesick and thought most of the past esp. those I could not be with...in ref. to the quote re forgetting the past...it's all relative :)

sounds like you were banished to the Colonies. A White Christmas would be a stunning novelty to a melting heatwave. But the grass is always greener.

lol about white christmas...the ones I miss most were green; the only white was the fake beard on Santa giving toys to village kids, some in their sunday bests (mostly of white cotton)

brilliant title :)) and the rest of it too, like a midwinter's daydream... I'm just glad the kids are grown and can take over the stress and mess of it all but some of the traditions linger still ...very enjoyable christmas read :)

lol .... it's a subject I know inside out; most poets take that walk through Hell, at some point, do they not? Oh, to escape to the land of the gods' (PC ;o) forgiveness. It's not all unfurling dew kissed blushing roses seducing well hung unicorns. I should attempt to go all Chaucer. I'm feeling ultra Dorothy Parker most of the time, which is a step above King Claudius's Gertrude. I do love that latest one of yours, Portuguese Lady. x
