Best Sprouts Poems
This is quite a bit overdue my friends
It's an ode to Brussel Sprouts
Those delicious spherical bundles of joy
Not too popular hereabouts
Poor wee fellows just want to be loved
Along with the other veggies
They've long had a real image problem
About as popular as a wedgie
Thinking of starting a worldwide petition
Any Soupers wishing to join
Send a hundred dollars to me, Jester Jack
You'll receive a commemorate coin
Along with the coin you'll receive a bushel
Of these oh so luscious little critters
As a bonus for ordering before December

Me, the contrarian,
hardcore vegetarian,
Would rather eat wombat snouts
than brussels sprouts.

When spring comes, as the tide
Like maize in a pot, it's time to dance and hop
The missing sun melts the snow, it will not be denied
It starts pretty quiet, with a little 'pop'
Green meadows and many delicious lamb chop

If all of you out there are good Boy Scouts
Better be sure to eat your brussel sprouts
And have hog jowls along with some grits
Even if someone said Shallotte is the pits.
In church basement, Boy Scouts are meeting;
When they began, God are always greeting
So from all of their sins, they can repent;
Why in church would a room have to rent?
Free, free, free will be the word for me
And with no one do we ever disagree;
God's love is in our life every day
But by Baptists we were blown away.
Scouts take an oath and should be saying
God always respect when we are praying
While Baptists their building like to hoard;
Keep to themselves and not share their Lord.
You must look in pine tree to find a cone
And join Baptist Church to be left alone;
While we were reading the Brunswick Beacon
People left because baptismal pool was leaking.

Brussels sprouts for breakfast, Brussels sprouts for lunch,
Sprouties served with iced champagne to make the perfect brunch!
Boiled and drowned in butter, or juiced to make a punch,
Brussels sprouts the tasty treat that I just love to munch!
Now I love to have a pet around but not a cat or dog,
Don't want no flop-eared bunny, or fat pot bellied hog.
My sprout plant does not need a walk and never gives me fleas,
Just lots of tender Brussels sprouts and I call her Louise!
Sprouties by the bowl full, sprouties by the plate,
I'd like to have a buck for very Brussels sprout I've ate.
When I take my final dirt bath, just so there are no doubts...
Plant me in a steamer trunk well packed in Brussels sprouts.

Most unpopular vegetable is Brussels Sprouts
Have taken a survey and I find there's no doubt
Now don't take a fit
For unpopularity they're it
Well, strangely I love 'em more than sauerkraut

We should only eat six sprouts at Christmas
Deem the council who are in Leicestershire
Its no joke, it’s a serious message at Xmas
To reduce waste and not make it higher
We must cut back on crisp pigs in blankets
And should only have three stuffing balls
Also cut back on spuds and fluffy Yorkshire puds
Gee I’m going to be climbing the walls!
I love to eat sprouts at my Christmas dinner
There will be NO sprout restriction for me
I’m rebelling; you may call me a sinner
There'll be piles of sprouts when I eat tea
Yes I’m going to load up my plate
Those officials can just go to hell
I’ll eat sprout after sprout after spout
And then let out a disgusting smell
The council’s intentions are honourable
Of that there are no doubts
But Leicester County Council
Keep your mitts off my Brussel sprouts!

A seed lays on the ground
by and by it sprouts
clawing into the soil
digging in deep its tap root
energetically spreading its roots
from its husk a stalk emerges
growing fast it reaches up
harvesting the sun and rain
in stature it climbs skywards
jaunty petals blow in the breeze
kicking out more stems it flourishes
lissom blooms begin to sprout
magnificently they turn to flowers
nurtured by the rich soil
opening they dazzle with colour
quaintly, shyly showing their faces
radiantly reaching for sunlight
soon all too soon they will fade
turning brown as they dry
until the pods open and spread seeds anew which
venture forth to form next years flowers
wise nature sowing her harvest of
xeranthemum flowers that keep their colour
zany in vases retaining their shape for years

Words and phrases come cascading out
When the moon is full and I eat sauerkraut
It's spooky for sure
My thoughts are impure
But as long as they rhyme, I'll munch on bean sprouts

Fallowed mind on barren ground toils
Winter's cold streams radiant beams foil
No incubating current cuts through the dense soil
Muses' bright glint the dark, thick clouds roil
Blipping sparks can't light my sensory console
A dormant seed sprouts on a rocky knoll
Promising strands on frozen surface stroll
Chilling winds over shallow-rooted thoughts troll
Vapid ideas from stagnant un-imaginative threads loll
Without depth, the promising figments spoil
In due course, Spring's thawing tides do roll
On horizon's mount, azure panels scroll
The brighter patches degenerated conduits parole
Fecund spores with soaring visions cajole
Wispy tufts of dander blow into cranial hole
Into thawing seams, germinating inspiration bowls
Enervating muse, implanted seeds into interstices dole
Granules of wisdom brim from gilded boll
Leaving pod, enthralling, pearly grains silt the soul
The congealed fabric spins around each, sensory pole
Ginned fibers into imagination's colorful tapestry burrow

newborn bulbs from sprouts
unfurl into green leaflets
a robin twitters
tulip buds will stretch
to greet the morning sunlight
colors of rebirth

From the ancestors
Generations to generations
Lives carry on like new sprouts
And flourishing like a jungle
Newborns are our hope
Nowadays newborns are totally different
Imbedded in an aircond surrounding
With love and care
A lot of toys
A lot of playmates
Hyperactive, alert and wise
Will carry on the family tree
And our mission
A mission of love of course
