Best Song Uplifting Poems
Sleep my lovely baby/PD/lady
Although I am so far away
Listen to the sweet song I sing
Feel in your heart I’m not leaving
Soft wind cuddles you in my arms of love
My warm embrace never makes you sad
Before you close your diamond eyes
Make a wish I am with you tonight
All dreams that you dream here or afar
Will be answered by those bright stars
As the moon smiles sweetly in your sight
Giving an assurance that you’ll be alright
Sleep my lovely baby/ PD/lady
Sweet lullaby I sing as I fervently pray
May God keep you safe while I’m away
In this world you’re so special in His way
Oct. 25,2012
This can be sung in a tune of a lullaby song which my teacher had taught me when I was still in Grade 4, I remember more vividly but not exactly the tune and the title and lyrics not anymore.

Tingles
down my spine
for me it’s nearly time
my very first performance
in the Parkinson’s choir
Practising the songs
morning
noon
and night
memorising lyrics
ready for tonight
but now my mind is blank
don’t even know my name
oh golly ~ oh gosh
will they ever want me back again
The music it begins
and the soloist she sings
awaiting for our cue
before we can begin
Our voices sing in harmony
blend beautifully as one
uplifting ~ euphoric
a joyous sound we make
I am reaching new heights
as my heart starts to race
adrenaline is rising
I am touching the sky...
Lyrics so poignant
bring tears to my eyes
voices
rise to a crescendo
jubilation
can't be disguised
Audience is roaring
with rapturous applause
I am wrecked
I am crying
I am smiling
I'm on fire
And my soul…
well really ~ truly
it could not get any higher

This was such an uplifting experience for me and as soon as I arrived home I had to express my utter joy and euphoria felt during and after our performance otherwise I would have burst! It is without doubt one of my favourite poems for it came from deep within my soul and I truly was "Touching the Sky"...

Tired of talking
‘bout weather
Other trivial things
Tired of talking
‘bout food
The price of tangerines
You may outlive
This aging man
Before I go
Please understand
Never told you how
I love you
When I held you
In the dark
Never told you how
I love you
I was never
Very smart
I never told you how
I love you
When I kissed your
Baby face
Never told you how
I love you
And I pray it’s
Not too late
I would tell you,
“That’s what men do…manly men don’t say, ‘I love you’”
That was my alibi
But what men do should be corrected
What men do can’t be accepted
If it makes your woman cry
Tired of talking
‘bout scandals
Rumors of the day
Tired of talking
‘bout old mistakes
Who deserves the blame?
The Winter of our lives
Is drawing near
Let’s change it to Spring
From year to year
Now I’m telling you
I love you
Though the words are coming late
I’m telling you
I love you
And it feels so good to say
I’ll love you in the morning
Love you through the night
I will love you through the tears
And all the tragedies of life
I’ll stay with you forever
Love you every day
Love you, love you, love you
It feels so good to say
Love you, love you, love you, baby
Feels so good to say…..
Love
Today we sing
great joy we bring
To those sweet souls
words long forgotten
For just a while we take them
to a peaceful magical place
a place they knew
a place they loved
a place to put smiles on their face
Even those who do not speak whose memories faded long ago
They’ll sing along inside their heads the words they used to know
And as the music starts to play deep inside a memory stirs
As slowly they will rock and hum before the words begin to come
And by the time we reach page two they sing along with me and you
‘Blue Moon’ ~ we sing ~ oh how they swoon
‘Delilah’ ~ ‘Lean on Me’
‘Sweet Caroline' ~ they start to move it really gets them in the groove
We sing with gusto they smile with joy
As memories return when girl meets boy
Our last rendition our final song
Full of joie de vivre the choir and me
We start to sing ‘You Raise Me Up’
I start to cry ~ I don’t know why it always makes me cry…
We raise the roof our souls entwine they almost touch the sky
Our spirits smile with exultation to cheers ~ applause ~ a celebration
For today we really made their day and they have made ours too
Monies sent to Parkinson’s UK we pray a cure is found one day
We bid them farewell ~ We wave them goodbye
I'm so blessed to be part of this choir
It is food for my heart each time I take part
With lovely friends who like me have “P”
Singing together in our Parkinson’s choir
I feel truly alive ~ I feel almost on fire…
Written 12th February 2020
I wrote this today after a performance by our Parkinson’s Choir, where we entertained some delightful folk who are living out their final days within a care home. It was truly inspirational…

I feel the heaviness of winter is over,
snow and cold be gone until next year.
I feel Spring is here,
here in all her warming glory.
The birds are singing their little hearts out,
I am singing with them.
I feel the pretty flowers fragrance in the air,
coming from their many pretty colors.
I feel softness on my skin,
as I watch the baby bunnies scamper.
I feel lite as the cool air,
Easter is on the way.
I feel I need to rejoice,
it is a magical time of the year.
I am sleeping
I am dreaming
In the world Far away
I am hoping
I am dying
But I could live another day
I am sleeping
Soundly
Please
Don't disturb me
I am sleeping
Peacefully
Please
Stay away from me
I am sleeping
I am hoping
I am dreaming
That I could be free...
Back in the mind of times
See it for what I find
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I'm bringing back the old days
Seeing these brutal type ways
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I can see my future
Standing alive
Walking amongst deadly ways
And yet I still thrive
My message is very clear
From beginning to end
Enemies and foes amongst me
Yet who is my friend
God told me not to worry
In time I will tell
All that you need to know
To do things well
The key is very simple
Nothing in life comes for free
Determination is what I find
In this mystery
I have got my head in the clouds
So time will not pass me by
Wondering what I need
But if I would only try
Where I am going from here
Nobody really knows
I guess I will try to keep it simple
In my next tomorrow
Back in the mind of times
See it for what I find
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I am bringing back the old days
Seeing these brutal type ways
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I am standing in the midst of a sea clear, bright, and blue
I am looking for somebody
But I do not know who
I need answers to solve daily problems
So I go to the man
Who keeps the world revolving
If I am in Him
And He is in me
A crucial door just opened
So now I can see
I am on the outside and still looking in
Praying for answers daily in this battle I win
The war will be over soon
But I will still enjoy time of peace
Knowing it starts within me
To keep my mind at ease
So go on and put the globe down
On my finger let it spin
And that is the very message
That I have to send
So that everyone will know
Who is in control
As the story unfolds
In the hand God holds
Back in the mind of times
See it for what I find
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I am bringing back the old days
Seeing these brutal type ways
Twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
I can twirl the world
While it spins I can twirl the world
Silly Willy with a worm
Had a pocket that would squirm
A Silly Willy was this boy
His pocket worm brought him joy
Don't mistake him for a toy
He is handsome and so coy
Silly Willy's naughty worm
Growing bigger makes girls squirm~
Whenever tears roll down
somebody's face,
and whether it brings joy, reward or pain:
it matters to someone
whose life, somehow, has broken him down,
or has lifted him up through grace;
it matters when one rejoices,
and sees in victory
what his bewildered eyes
couldn't ever have imagined it to be...
He chose the path to glory
without harboring suspicions,
or being frightened by unseen woes
and hard-and fast rules;
he made swift choices
and built up his courage from nothing;
and what his fearless mind couldn't perceive,
wasn't so impossible to dream,
but surely achieved
through grit and indisputable duty...
Whatever that solemn oath
relied on a certain promise, he never lost heart,
because his valor never seemed to lessen a bit;
and he was taken above and beyond his fears
by not foreseeing any disheartening defeat:
confidence had given his untiring feet a steady beat...
It matters to someone to be recognized,
and cherish that moment of gladness:
perhaps the only moment to be remembered
and be locked away in his past;
a brave soldier at his best,
never settling for anything less,
always going above and beyond his expectations,
to honor and safeguard the Country that he loves...
The best month is June
Flowers in the afternoon
Birds singing in tune.

HEART OF WORSHIP
I stand in worship to You my Father God..
Every Friday how you shake, stir,
engulf and fill my heart with so much gladness...
Once I stand there...
Uncaring who hears
and sees me,
for all I want in those two hours is just to
sing for You.
allow me to tell,
How I was before..
I stood like a tree just singing..
but now..
I could wholly understand and appreciate
what true worship and giving praise is...
My arms unintentionally..
I lift them high. I wave. I clap.
even my feet I can't
stop their talk.
They have their own beat.
I can't stop the groove.
I can't stop the stomp.
I can't halt the swing.
Sometimes, I even hop
and somehow jump.
How could I not be?
Must I be shy?
Must I be ashamed?
But NO..
no! no! no!
I am not.
For those very few hours,
I am there and I believe You are there watching me.
You alone are my audience.
You alone, I like to please.
You alone, I offer the hymns I utter.
there are times, tears fall from my eyes
as I feel Your presence next to me,
as I experience Your words speaking to me
I experience them serenading, winning me.
They are embracing me.
Your living words gradually restoring me.
They are healing every ache.
They are melting every fear.
They are dissolving every worry.
They are day by day transforming, changing me..
They are day by day reminding me of what to do..
They are in my walk, talk, actions, anything that I do.
They become a rainbow fountain of hope,
encouragement,
strength,
peace
and joy.
I am deeply overwhelmed by
how great!
How great !
How great You are to me!
How I love to sing........
I know I got no golden voice..
Nor am I not so sure that
I am hitting rightly the notes,
But I believe..
I trust my Father God that
You will see my desire..
You will see my longing..
You will see each and every thought running in my mind...
More, You will see my heart,
my heart of worship.

"Love rain down on me..."
she bellows sweetly
I drink her soul through
the sounds
Letting me into her universe
dripping with love, food, imagery
a beautiful symphony of words
"Slowly, surely, I walked away from..."
the thought of turning my cd off
Jazz seeping through my pores
melting me like chocolate in hand
'I understand what you sayin' girl!!!'
Moving feet with every beat
"Love rain down on me..."
Author's Note: Some of the words in this piece are from actual songs. Jill Scott
has been a tremendous influence in my poetry. Her music and words are
constant companions. Much respect to her.
I never knew the feeling hip hop gave her,
she was on the brink of death but it saved her.
80's baby this hip hop raised her
the art of expressing the mind that's what made her.
She wore a hat to the back baggy jeans
black back pack eyes like Isis soul priceless.
She inspired me and so I write this it might just
rise up her lifeless soul I'm just,
head over heels for this priceless diamond,
whenever she was down hip hop brought her mind up.
In an open mic club you might find her,
freestyles and spoken word poetry drives her.
She kept her hand in the air she was live plus
shy no man dedicated to the flow I,
knew she was gifted she lifted my pride
when she said her rhyme, it's what hip hop gave her.
I never knew the feeling hip hop gave her.
She's the type to cypher with 3 guys,
driven by the Queen Lah past molds a mean eye.
Father kept her down but her mother told her dream high
so she rocks a-di-da shell toes to be fly.
She's the one to get you up on Eric B. and Rah,
the only thing she knew was be an emcee or die.
On the phone tone speaking frequently till I
fell asleep in the morning I'm like, "lil G I tried"
She replies with a gleam in her eyes,
like I see you as the king in my life.
I'm like I'm like.....
girl you like a sister to me, a best friend I can kiss on the cheek.
Right then I think her heart took time out
to rewind my words then she cried her eyes out.
I never knew that hip hop gave her me
the same day I heard a dj break beats.
Since day 1 we grew on each other became a team,
last year cancer overcame and changed her.
Now she lives where the angels hang at,
she misses me when she cries,
she gives me Rain back.
Since then I haven't been the same cat,
now I know where hip hop's made at.
Now I know what hip hop gave her,
it gave her me, it gave her me.
i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
i'm so in love with you
i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh yeah
you keep me awake at night
so as long as it keeps pounding
your words will keep on reminding
me of your love, while they keep on lying
and i know no matter what they say
i'll be yours forever and ever
as long as you want me too
i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
im so in love with you
i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh yeah
you keep me awake at night
boys and girls sometimes
say things that are so fake
but baby when you speak
your words i'll never throw away
so let's kiss
just one last time
before you leave
i want your lips on mine
and i'll always remember
ohhh, hell yeah
you keep me awake at night
i never thought i would say
these words are so true
but the fact still remains
im so in love with you
i keep thinking about
when my world is nothing
you take away the grey
with all the things you say
and baby my heart will stay the same
i promise, ohh hell yeah
you keep me awake at night
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
I remember me and Grandad
Listening to the radio
We would listen to the Opry
While my friends went to the show
Johnny Cash, The Gatlins,
Grandpa Jones, and Old Hank Snow
I was raised on country music
I just wanted you to know
I loved the feeling I would get
when I heard a country tune
Singing about trucks and girls
And a golden Tennessee Moon
Charlie Daniels, Jimmy Dean
The Judds, and Roger Miller
Willie, Waylon, Tom T. Hall
and Jerry Lee...the Killer
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
Country lost it's western
and Rock it lost it's roll
But, still old country music
Those tunes just made me whole
I learned all of the lyrics
And I love to hear them sing
I grew up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was King
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
My friends all liked the Beatles
But, that was not my thing
I liked to hear the fiddle
To hear the joy burst from the strings
I Grew Up on Country Music
When Rock and Roll was king
