Upside Down

If the leaf wore a tree
And the ocean ate fish;
If a flower sucked the bee
And beans ate the dish;
If a beggar was chief
And a boy was a girl
A song would be brief
If a bird wore a curl.
If the grass chewed the cow
And night turned to day
I'm wondering how
Work might be play.
Wouldn't it be great
If the sun was the moon
If early was late
And a line lost its tune.
If all of these things
Were natural to do;
Then a song wouldn't sing
And teeth wouldn't chew.

Premium Member An Ordinary Man

I want to be inspired to write
    a song people really want to sing;
I want to be inspired to compose
    a requiem for the King;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at writing poems
            that have no homes.

I want to be inspired to find
    a cure for this cancer thing;
I want to be inspired to reach
    out for the golden ring;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at getting by
            with the good old college try.

I want to be inspired to lead
    a revolutionary coup;
I want to be inspired to be
    the best at everything I do;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        to make ends meet
            and not live on the street.

I have the motivation;
I’ll put in the perspiration;
I can give it concentration;
But, I lack the inspiration;

Inspire me.
What will it take to inspire me?

I want to be inspired to write
    a song people really want to sing;
I want to be inspired to compose
    a requiem for the King;
But, I’m just an ordinary man
    doing the best I can
        at writing poems
            that have no homes.

Premium Member Echo

Encased in earthen form, I rise,
held chest-tight with fear my eyes belie.
Tumbled stone and ancient steps so steep,
lead to a mound and valley deep
where I let loose my song to sky.

The song resounds from crag to peak
a lonely echo blue on green.
The soulful song from quartz careens
and shames the hillside cold cheek
returning brazen, seldom meek.

For once sent forth, it must return,
its formless flight, a brief sojourn,
A repetition not unique,
a hollow copy which respeaks
of lovers lost and trust unearned.

A Dawn Duet

Her breathing moves a strand of golden hair
that lays upon her pillow, next to mine,
yet in this evening birdsongs on the air
awaken me to listen and recline.

This errant bird, whose song dispatches sleep,
is laughing at a long forgotten jest
or maybe woos a distant mate who, deep
inside her feathered nest, finds better rest.

I watch the window, night begins to fade
and so do I. As slumber beckons me
I hear a distant answer softly made:
A dawn duet resplendent in our tree.

A single song brings answers in the air
as my beloved sleeps without a care.

Wish For Friends

O friends-
How to convey –
The song this heart play-
Though silently-
In the form of invincible waves-
It’s a song of heart, but-
Really is a wish-
Of seeing you always bliss-
Of your Intellect getting wings and joy-
Never have you reached-
There you fly-

Tragedy

The field is wet with sunshine,
Ripe grasses green and high;
With a reaper in the meadow,
And a bird flies in the sky.

There's a nest with little babies,
With three beaks opened wide;
A reaper's in the meadow,
And a song hangs in the sky.

The meadow's ripe with summer,
And a tragedy passes by;
With a scythe in the meadow,
And a song up in the sky.

Heart of Fire

As I sit in front of these black and white keys,
I can't find the right tune to flow with my breeze..
I stare out the window, over the trees and past
the sky of mine..
Searching for a word and note that can capture
my feelings in a rhyme..
Sometimes a world away or a mile, but still out of
reach to hold..
Then my fingers move and a thought comes out
with a melody not yet sold..
A song of peace, a song of desire..
That builds in my mind and a heart of fire..

Premium Member Night Song

Glistening night, stars
Reflecting the joy, wonder
Peace, be still, enjoy

Soft nocturnal glow
Glittering memories, hopes
Soaring, winds praising

In moments, whispers
Graceful and whimsical, light
Rousing the wonders

Bidding the heart hope
Stirrings of faith, so bold, brave
Lingering in praise

Night blends peace and thrill
Taking away the darkness,
Embracing still warmth

Bleeding light on night,
Rising moon, starlight twinkling,
Moments of reason

Erasing darkness
Feeding the music with grace
Moonlight soothes with praise

Premium Member A Song Unsung

A song unsung is not a song
Until the music plays.
And the verse meant to come alive
Is just a meaningless phrase.

But there is no song without the words
That give meaning to it all
And to separate the two will bring
Nothing you’ll recall

But if the two are blended
In a very special way
Something magic happens
That you don’t see every day.

You’ll find rhythm in the music,
And a rhyme for all the words
And if you listen closely
Angels can be heard.

To put it all together
May seem a mighty chore
For what you’re really looking for
No one’s heard before.

The words may come from wisdom
Or from deep within your heart
And the chord that brings these words to life
Requires a very special art

Then, when you think it’s finished,
And all the work is done
Just give it one more edit
And then enjoy the fun.

Unite Blue

Verse 1

I’ve had this dream now for a while,
But the real world’s where I choose to stay,
The time is now for standing up,
To reach out for that brighter day.

Chorus

Unite to lend a hand to those who are in need,
Unite against them, whose souls are consumed by greed,
Unite and lend a hand, and we can change the world,
We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Verse 2

Walking past two souls holding hands,
I see that it’s true love conquers all,
A dreamland where we all sing and dance,
And hands to catch us should we fall.

(Chorus)

Bridge

United, it’s in our hands,
United, it’s how we stand,
United, across all lands.
Empathy, we understand,
Together, it’s how we stand,
Unite with one voice, One Hand.

Girl With the Diamond Eyes

my girl
has a strange effect on me

shes more sweet than honey
but be warned this queen bee can sting
she can be bitter at times

but i dont mind cause
shes all mine
shes my only dream
and she can be like a angel to me

there are always times when diamonds
loose their shine but since the day i made her mine
that shine has never left
her beautiful eyes

shes my girl
the girl with the diamond eyes

this girl is more beautiful than anything
she is my perfect vision of life
she means everything to me

shes my angel and my dream
but at times she can be
the devil to me

we are crazy in desire
we fit together well
shes crazy
and im crazy for her

shes bad
and ill be bad for her

my girl
has a strange effect on me

shes more sweet than honey
but be warned this queen bee can sting
she can be bitter at times

but i dont mind cause
shes all mine
shes my only dream
and she can be like a angel to me

there are always times when diamonds
loose their shine but since the day i made her mine
that shine has never left
her beautiful eyes

shes my girl
the girl with the diamond eyes

yea my girl
with the diamond eyes

she makes me feel crazy
sometimes
but i dont mine as long as i can call
that girl with the diamond eyes mine

i pray they always shine

Premium Member And the Earthquake Shook

I was walking along,
    And I was singing this song,
        That has been playing inside my head.
If you’re as old as I,
    You know “American Pie”,
        About the singer that has long been dead.

And so it seems,
    I was lost in my dreams,
        When this beauty came up to me.
She said, “Hey Mister,
    I know your sister,
        And I heard about your history.”

That was all it took;
Just a single look;
Put it in the books;
In my heart, her hook …
And the earthquake shook.

Although I tried,
    My tongue was tied,
        The words were stuck inside my throat.
I crashed my Chevy,
    Into the levy,
        If from that song I can steal a quote.

I just stared at her,
    Everything else a blur,
        I knew my world right then had changed.
I pressed forward fast,
    Erasing all my past,
        As if our love had been arranged.

That was all it took;
Just a single look;
Put it in the books;
In my heart, her hook …
And the earthquake shook.

We will keep my history,
    In this song a mystery,
        But it brought to me this girl.
Just know my soul was saved,
    By the path she paved,
        As I welcomed her in my world.

Now when “American Pie” I hear,
    It puts in my eye a tear,
        Remembering that fateful day.
When my angel came,
    While on the third refrain,
        And my loneliness passed away.

That was all it took;
Just a single look;
Put it in the books;
In my heart, her hook …
And the earthquake shook.

Death By Beauty

A smile moves across her lips
She gazes at her crime
A scar across her flesh and soul
To haunt her for all time
She’ll waste away for all she cares
Never stops to use her brain
Doesn’t care about the ones who are close
All she cares about is pain

She wants to be what the others expect of her
Doesn’t care about the self-respect for her
A rose can’t be a forget-me-not
Can’t she see what all she has got
Already?

Never to go back again
She feels the world is at an end
She will never show her grief
Although she’ll cry in empty streetS

She’d sooner live like a desolate mole
Living in fear in an empty hole
Screaming silent wails alone
Content to live in her mental home

A final tear falls from her eye
It hits the ground, it’s followed by
A beautiful body, mutated by hate
A kind word could have stopped it, but it is too late
One two many bricks in the wall in her mind
Molding her demise because her heart was blind
This self conscious being could never have won
For she was destroyed by the beautiful ones

She wouldn’t fight back, wouldn’t respect herself
In the end, she managed only to wreck herself
A rose can’t be a forget-me-not
Little did she know, she had all she had sought
Already

Premium Member Contagious Singing

Singing songs that fill the air.
Contagious is the song they sing.
The canaries are joyful, without a care.

Their melodies are beyond compare.
They make a weary heart take wing,
singing songs that fill the air.

Happy they, no burden to bare,
when their rich songs they shall sing.
The canaries are joyful, without a care.

Sad thoughts you cannot share
when listening to the song they bring,
singing songs that fill the air.

Their lilting voices in the air
are welcoming the coming Spring.
The canaries are joyful, without a care.

I shall hum while they sing with flair
and all around us music will ring.
Singing songs that fill the air,
the canaries are joyful, without a care.
