Premium Member DREAM SUSTAINED FRIENDSHIP

Dedicated to Lorie Jean, Though She'll Never Know
Asleep, I cannot escape my love’s depth for you.
Awake, I cannot deny my loathing towards you.
Confusion and missing settle-stay in my pain’s cliché.
Thoughts of you weigh down my moments every day.
Long is the time I have spilled grief yet failed its release,
but dreams weave my joy strung to net grief’s relief.

Asleep, I see us blend as we did easily back then.
As before, we pool play, float happily and swim.
In sunshine, we decide our age will be just ten
as laughter splashes our feel with child-like appeal.
In dreams, we cook, play cards, take road trips,
critique movies, compete to title older song hits.
Our laughter soars until you ‘ink’, and then we
laugh more, stopping only when laugh sore.
Secrets from one’s lips merit the other’s ears
to heart-hear and hold all told in love-lined folds.
My feet twitch as I dream-walk to your home
and street-met you dream-walking to my own.
In dreams I see all I reality-miss; your face,
voice, moods, humor and unique attitudes.
I live our togetherness, our special groove,
in cherished dream scenes of us as still a two.

As soon as I first wake, reality steals my happy,
smashes the contentment dreams grant me
while missing aches swirl colors of lonely.
I ponder whether while in your own slumber,
you also dream plunder from our past splendor
for assistance with your friend-grief ender.

Premium Member Deeply Hurt Love

Feet not up yet dreaming looking into the deep distant horizon screams
need to take turf in remembering howls across oceans mourning dream special wish

You would want a good fire tonight for sure ice stormy fierce cold cutting
out walking giant waves hitting of the shore thundering pounds lashing clash

Today the wind fairly woke me up piercing wide eye opening vision
Then when I got home just felt ten years younger alive again one storm

Now that's a good omen laughing to myself carries one to the high Heavens
Must be the salted spray love mixed with sea mist smashes you to the ground love

New therapy go out to the sea front as gales howling with angry force break news
blowing giant waves crashing heavy of cliffs thundering roars echoes inside sad

Wind spitting sea salt sand peppering the face in your hardened heart
hate remains your driving engine unforgiving hung up on the past

C'Est La Vie, Billy

C’est la vie, Billy!

   His cheeks a deep scarlet,
His jaw tightened in an eerie grin,
He stands, rooted to the spot
While the snot in his nose
	          Like a long gooey
		      Streak of
			  Chewing-gum
				Slowly comes dripping
					Onto his dappled T-shirt,

and his eyes, like dazzling agates,
Fixedly follow the interminable course of
	           The red rubbery ball
                       As the projectile
                          In a deafening clash,
	                     Smashes the headmaster’s office window.

Outside the Box

She has a flaming spirit
That could never be confined
A burning creativity
That makes her daydreams shine

A hope for something better
Only seen because she tries
A long since dead idea
Resurrected by her eyes

She looks right past our atmosphere
It can't contain the sky
She's got a canvas stretching light-years
And a paintbrush that can fly

Every heartbreak that she's come across
Is waiting now to dry
In a portrait she created
To remind her of those times

There's a symphony she's hearing
To every other ear sublime
A tune that can't live in the box
But smashes all four sides

Smashed Up Smarties

smoking pot,
drinking 'MORGAN'
its done alot,
but no one cares
at the parties,
he smashes smarties
people laugh and dare him to.
he inhales deeply
he dose it freely
nobody forced him to
he starts coughing
pot heads mocking
his insane poposterious stunt
he grabs a can
out of his best friends hand
in an attempt to get it out
fake 'homemade' coke,
and his shirt beer soaked,
he heads home wih fear
that his mother might hear
him come in his window,
his girlfreind waits
to take her place
held tight in his arms
little did she know,
that he was stoned
and out parting all night.
he put up a fight
to say that he had a right
to be free for once in his life.
If you would have known him
before i started this poem
you would know how romantic
 and careing
and shareing
and wonderful he was.

Eating Oysters

The tray comes out
I choose my first
I lift the shell to my mouth
Splash! A foamy spray of brine smashes against the rocks, sending arcs of water far onto the shore. I chew a few times, and swallow with the juice. The tide recedes back again.
I wait a moment
Sip my root beer
Eying the plate,
choosing another
I grab the shell
pause with my lips
To the edge of the
Ocean.
Whoosh! A sea bird dives into the surf, scanning for the glints of fish. As it glides beneath the surface, the twisting torrent of waves above pulls it back up. At the last moment it snatches up a stray perch. The salty lump slides down smooth.
Again, I wait.
Another sip.
Two is enough, I think.
Two, unadulterated
tastes of the sea
I cant say I like them
But im glad I tried
Maybe its an acquired taste

Premium Member Happy Ever After

Does happily ever after really exist?
Is it a cruel joke with a sardonic twist?
When the girl gets the boy, or boy the girl,
Life seems so good, a love affair in a whirl;
But the fairy princess dream, prince charming scream
Escapes the heart and blows the mind
As the whole fanciful delusion you’ll never find;

Watching the chick flick on an extra-large screen,
Can you feel the favour as you join the scene
That shows the hero marry the girl,
Then see him run away with the best man?
There are no happy endings in this world today;
The joke is the kicker in the face that blows away
Every thought of romance, rather escape to France!

But you continue hoping for that fairy tale end,
When the prince rides in on a charger and steals you away;
Are you blind to the passion that burns in the head,
While the heart beats faster, you could end up dead
As the perfect amour breaks in to your soul,
And stirs up the hornets that burn you whole,
Now the happy ever after can fall into the abyss;

Stop searching for happy ever after, the prince has left
And the dream is over, while you discover you are bereft
As the lover you thought was the prince of your dreams
Turned out to be the extorter of screams
And stealer of hearts, who smashes the happiness into the park
Leaving you wandering the streets after dark,
Hoping to discover it was never your part to end this way;

Happy ever after never happens in real life,
There is crying, there is pain, and so much strife;
Reach out with your heart to the only true love,
The one who stretched his arms on a cross and said,
‘I love you this much’ and gave you his life;
With a thunderous roar the grave gave up the dead,
And the Prince of Heaven rose up and lives no more departed;

So stop trying to find your prince in your dreams,
The only one you need has seen your scenes
And reaches into your heart to take out the pain
From losing the hope of true romance, all you need is a second chance,
And the hand of the Son of the King, who will give more than a ring;
Crown is received if you will bend the knee,
In homage to the only Prince where happy ever after is seen.

Premium Member Blessed On a Deserted Island

Who would imagine that my life would come down to the edge of a blade
worked and worked on stone, scraping off goo and removing the bites?

Or that when I tumbled and rolled in the surf, unsure what was up.
storm rolling hard against breakers that I would remain intact?

It’s breath holding time, while rain smashes down, winds howl and the stir
rocks you until you forget your name and then finally silence, the deep breath

sauna time arising with sun, I scramble for cover, glad my Teva sandals
prevent the shells slicing at my skin, I must duck down into forest

looking to quench thirst, handy filter bottle in hand to conquer
all the parasites and villains unseen about to attack what is left.

Forgive me then, Father, for I have fallen to worship my survival blade,
prying out oysters, scraping out crabs, peeling the papaya

for I drink well of thy wine, fruit of my body, rendered and purified
and wander as I will through this vast new place I’ve come

lost to find self, and prayer for the fragile web of blessings
that save me from skewered, smashed, expiring, but shaded by your love.

Olympic Silver Medallist

Start

This 21-year old girl, Sindhu
From the land of the Hindu
Set the badminton court on fire
Her opponents in a quagmire

The shuttle flew like a bird
Dropped without being heard
In the other corner of the court
Giving no chance to retort

She wove magic in her game
In her quest for universal fame
As adversaries surrendered by the way
She strode like a colossus each day

Her delicate drop-shots caressed the net
Gives her a sure point you can bet
Her vicious smashes pierce the court
The only defense is to build a fort

A prodigy like her is rarely born
Whom the entire country might adorn
An analysis of her winning ways
Suggest only resolute mind and effort pays

The Olympic medal she has won
Has brought cheers to everyone
All fans are saying in one voice
“CHAK DE INDIA”, she’s our choice

End

Brickedroad

High or Low on the Brick Road; traveling to and from ones own abode.

The wind crashes, smashes cans and thus:
My home waltzes in a cacophony.
So long is the dead wait
In my red ballon hands.
Am I falling up or down?

Which is which is a matter of tempo
as the little notes grow into full bands
Now scared I go onward swiftly
into the darkness for rest
to be beaten by sins so originally

A lost resolve to continue on
My courage faded and legs felt rusty
The beauty of a flower delivered the answer
Closed but then opening, spiraling awake
Reveling and dancing to each new dawn.

Green with envy for what I had seen
I chose to pour water on both flowers and fear
Then instantly exposed the path back home
as being nothing more than a palindrome
Home is everywhere and everywhere is Home

WIND

by

Kevin L Fairbrother

The wind, so cold, so bloody cold

Wraps it’s freezing breath around me

Aches my head, numbs my body

Sucks my energy and dulls my brain

……….

The wind it smashes, it breaks, bends and twists

Everything within it’s non-yielding path

Destruction every-where I look…it’s hell

As Mother Nature vents her fury on earth

…

The wind howls and screams it deafens me

I am fearful for it is relentless…it gives no ground

I seek shelter and relief… but where

For this freezing blast of cold air is everywhere

………

The safety of my home so near… yet so far

As another blast completely bowls me over

It rolls me over and over and buries me beneath the snow

And blackness engulfs me… I’m buried alive

…….

I feel no pain…just silence… but I am cold

So bloody cold, I’m shivering, shaking…feel so numb

I’m hovering between life and death… I loose consciousness

A blackness overwhelms and engulfs me

……

Surely I’m dead… but awaken in hospital

The wind, the snow, the cold has frozen my body

Frost-bite…now I feel horrendous pain

So much pain that I black out again

Only to be revived and the pain has subsided

……

For weeks and months I endured the pain

Minus fingers toes … a leg… I wish I was dead

Because I tempted fate by venturing into the wind

A wind that went so close to leaving me dead

Tornado

Clouds of darkness, roar of fear -
Would we be able to stand its might?
Let's prepare. It's coming near.

What happened to the sky so clear?
Gone away is our precious light,
Clouds of darkness, roar of fear -

What will we do when it gets here?
Stack the pillows while our lights are bright.
Let's prepare. It's coming near.

Rolling clouds, hail and wind so sheer,
Trees bend, as this rage they fight.
Clouds of darkness, roar of fear -

History said that this would be the year,
So buckle down and hold on tight.
Let's prepare. It's coming near.

The enveloping rush deafens our ears;
Funnel smashes to the ground, I shake in fright.
Clouds of darkness, roar of fear -
Let's prepare. It's coming near.

Disinfection

Returning home is always a bitter path.
Some say it’s warm and soft, it’s healing.
These words are said before the aftermath
Which brings an acute pain, which’s drilling.

It smashes down the soul inside your ring.
All thoughts are apposite to you in this rebellion.
The mind’s infected with a memory sting.
It yells that there’s the other side of the medallion.

Every cute moment is shadowed by sorrow.
This crow just flies turning all into dark
The way you’ve done, the way you’re living now.
It’s darken, eaten by a wormy mind shark.

But there’s no need to be afraid of this,
Cause in the end it leaves a white sheet.
It’s like a rubber cleans you with its kiss,
So you become a man without wormy mind ****.

My White Boy Friend

MY WHITE BOY FRIEND

My white boy friend brings mystery
He talks the language of love
But the language he speaks is forgotten
I understand the language of
His hugs around my body.

My white boy friend brings mystery
When he is angry he smashes into a car
Bump! He crushes onto a pavement in an accident
He makes me worry and
Worried sick about him
I wonder why I love him.

My white boy friend brings a lot of mystery
When I am angry he falls on one knee
And begs me not to be too annoyed
He promises to buy me gifts with kisses
And I am happy again.

But when he is angry
My white boy friend switches off
Like a car engine that won’t go anywhere
This makes me afraid and wonder
Why I love him so?

So I kept quite too and switched off
Like an engine that won’t go anywhere
Because my white boy friend
Is too mysterious sometimes.
