Best Shiniest Poems

Premium Member I Wish I Were a Unicorn

I wish I were a Unicorn
So smooth and white with shiny horn
To prance and dance on clouds up there
And spend my days surveying air

I'd stop and visit clouds of rain-
Those darker ones, which are a pain
When they release their water flow
   On earthly beings down below

I'd then check out a fluffy one
The kind that always blocks the sun
It would be best to take a snooze
While 'neath blue sky I'd float and cruise

I'd love clouds more at sunset time
When glowing colors make them shine
A Unicorn would like it best
   Upon a cloud that's shiniest

At night, I'd fly up near the moon
See how the tides are kept in tune
Come morn, I'd go close to the sun
To see how brand new dawn is done

Again at dark, some stardust find
The finest and most brilliant kind
To sprinkle on my wings of white
And store to share the starry light

Perhaps I'd make it way up far
To find the place where blessings are
I'd seek the ones with greater worth
And gently throw them down to earth

I wish I were a Unicorn
So smooth and white with shiny horn
I'd monitor the earth below
To sprinkle it with stardust glow

Memory

You called me Memory
not realizing that is all I want
I couldn't ask for anymore
than to be a lovely memory in someone's heart
To be remembered is a great responsibility
I will wear this name well
I'm proud of this name bestowed to me by one of my heroes
One of my friends
One of my sisters
One of my own
One of my most precious memories
A memory with a future
My dear sweet loves
Silver cannot describe your voice
It's far more valuable
It's like gold to my ears
Comfort to my soul
Honey to my throat
It coats me in love
It muses my own thoughts
An ancient way of thinking
I'm an artifact
But don't put me behind glass
Leave me buried or clean me up
but appreciate my beauty either way
I'm too lovely to be forgotten
So don't think that you can leave without thoughts of me
I'll haunt your own memories and gain the trust of your dreams
I'll stay in the creases of your heart and be the sleep in your eyes when you wake
I can turn necks with a simple smile
Don't hold a candle to me
For it will only pale
The rust and dirt that stains me are contributions to my selflessness
I'm a warrior of time
A bandit of sorrows for I will wear yours as my own
I'm cracked but I've withheld against wind a torment
A treasure lost for far too long
The map that leads to me has been smudged beyond repair
But I'm not...
No I'm not the shiniest or the one filled with the most riches
But I am to be cherished
For I am only one
The caverns of my heart are to be explored with reverence
I'll open up but can easily crumble
I know how to rebuild but I've come too far to start over again
I've withstood the test of centuries and I will make it to the end
My treasure hunters
You've found me
Don't look anywhere else for what I can hold
It's too great for most
But you can handle it
I was made to be found by greatness
To hold greatness
And that is what you have filled me with
You've prepared me for wondrous things
Things that can't be reached in just one lifetime
No wonder that I have so many more to live

Premium Member My Love Affair With Orange

Orange is my utmost best color, my best friend, my girl.
She laughs from the rooftop, and she makes me mouth curl.
She glitters and she shines, her happy feelings for me.
Today I may take out my paints and paint an orange tree.

Most of my women cartoon paintings are ginger heads.
They come into my mind before I get out of bed.
I look around the bedroom and I laugh and I sing.
My many red-haired paintings, it makes my mind truly zing.

I have a paisley orange shirt and an orange evening gown.
Some people want my autograph, and mob me in town.
I do not dare wear either of them on my shiniest day.
I would be so manic, the mental police would cart me away.

A Priceless Diamond

I have discovered a Magnificent Diamond
A Diamond here on earth, not in the sky
His bright light helps others to get by

The shiniest of all shining Diamond
I don’t think we’ll ever find
Such a priceless gem of your kind

Wow! Such an elegance Diamond
A Diamond that twinkles in a dark night
His sparkling smile is contagious and bright

Your glory glows like a Diamond
You’re the ideal, you’re invaluable
Your graciousness and generosity is admirable

A Father or a Diamond?
We call you Daddy, but you’re much more
You’re like an angel for all to adore

You’re my Rock! You’re my Diamond
Without you there is no stability
Without you there is no tranquility

I have seen a beautiful Diamond
A beautiful Diamond for all to see
Your inspiration brings out the best in me

You’re not in the market, ‘cause you’re priceless Diamond
You held my hands when I fell down the hill
You supported me when no one else will

God gave us a Priceless Diamond
To guide us on this rocky way
May the Lord bless you this special day

You Are...

You Are...
The most beautiful flower in the garden;
The shiniest star in the sky;
The diamond in the rough;
The angel sent from Heaven.

You Have...
The beauty of Aphrodite;
The virtues of the Virgin Mary;
The hand I wish to hold for ever;
The heart I wish to please for eternity.

On

Out of the blue it dawned on me
he really meant it when he said
"all the world's a stage."
We play around our little parts
some parrot all their lines away
some get cold feet and then they run.
and there are those who madly stick
around and put their hearts to it
making their own lines as they play.

Across the Globe everyone's giving
their own special minute performance,
the world's a stage
the stage means merely
you're not the only star out there
neither the shiniest for that matter.

The stage exists there to remind you
everyone laughs, loves, cries and ponders
everyone lives and plays and wonders.
There's One who attends every performance,
Who's critic, audience and director.
Step up and well your lines deliver
and you will hear Him clap and shiver.

Of Love and Pain

Is the freedom to love worth all of the pain?
To stretch your arms out far for the shiniest star,
hoping to reach it, becoming slightly insane,
but gravity dragging your heart into iron bars.

Is this non-stop fight to break them worth the trouble?
To be locked away, witnessing your star reached,
not by you, but another whom is quite subtle,
and more captivating than a whale that is beached.

Is rejection for another worth loneliness?
To cry alone in your corner behind those bars,
wishing to cunningly end their pure happiness,
and escape any emotion like it was tar.

To be second in anyone's eyes, with nothing to gain,
Is the freedom to love worth all of the pain?

Premium Member The Most Beautiful Woman

She does not own the perfect vital statistics,
nor has a pointed nose, the shiniest hair.
She is not as gorgeous as Miss Universe,
But the world's turning because of her.
Her hands are not as soft as cotton,
Her skin is not as smooth as silk.
She is not the hottest girl in a magazine.
The girl that drives you to heaven.
Her lips aren't like as Angelina Jolly,
But has a power to send you in bliss.
She is an extraordinary woman...
She is your wife....
Love her with all your heart.
Show her the beauty she owns inside.
For she's the most beautiful woman,
A mother of your child.

Dangerous Meanderings

I have a game for you. “Why not!” you say.
A beer or six here, a hit or two there,
Many others play this game every day.
A few more and you'll be better than square!

A dance of wild thrills, a dance just for fun,
You can turn and walk if it gets sticky.
Dance all by yourself, dance with anyone.
In time, you don’t bother to be picky.

Don’t flatter me, I know I'm compelling;
The dream I dangle, just out of your reach.
Sniff, sniff. Whiff of putrid scent you're smelling?
Leviathan floundering on the beach.

Pale tales of restraint you have been telling.
Talk all you want, we both know it’s too late.
You’d already bought what I was selling
The first moment you nibbled on the bait.

It's just a trap now, no more scraps of cheese.
Worse to struggle in my steel sleeper hold.
You thought you could leave whenever you pleased,
Tight Chinese finger puzzle for your soul.

Maze of mirrors, the exit eludes you.
Optical illusion you can’t unsee,
Should you get out, crimson game is not through.
It will never end, my trap is in thee.

Can you feel the romance? It feels you too.
You want to touch it, relieve the tension.
One more sweet taste, what’s the worst it could do?
Sucks you back to the zero-th dimension.

Spiritual riddle, your heart breaking.
Soul-murdering beast, and yet you feed it.
A dank, bleak prison of your own making.
What was that something you knew you needed?

Tell your children to avoid me, but I’ve
The sweetest candy, shiniest balloon
I lay in patient wait for them, here’s why:
With stealth, I know they will be mine, and soon.

Peace

Do I have to tell you how beautiful you are,
That you don't have to be the shiniest star,
That your flaws are gorgeous, I would rather see,
The man behind the mask of authenticity,
Your days of striving to be perfect are over now,
You can relax and be yourself,
Come, sit down, have a cup a tea,
Go ahead, scratch your ass, it doesn't bother me,
Please understand, my heart is for you,
I've seen what this world has put you through,
Simple love sits, quietly waiting,
The most honorable love anticipating,
This weight on your shoulders is over and gone,
God brought you to this place and humbled your heart,
Do not worry about what everyone else has to say,
God knows your heart and he paves the way,
Trust in his love and you will see,
The peace that was missing that set your heart free,

The Death of Summer

It’s dark and quiet
Moonlight filters through ripped-cotton clouds,
cicadas sing in morse code, and crickets play broken violins
as the night fades into day and the day breaks through to night.
It’s a never-ending cycle of burning and bursting
and falling and fading,
and the confusion of summer’s adventurers swirls up
into dusk’s air like the smoke of a soaring bonfire.

A blurring collage of nights fast-fading from your mind,
A rebellious rendezvous
of your best and your brightest
and your oh-so-shiniest memories,
a toxic evening spent alone
and surrounded by acquaintances
that you’ve never been acquainted with,
a night spent drowning
in the endless endings of a careless youth.

Her funeral is black.
The only splash of color sits delicately
in the coffin of your memories,
to be thought about
once you’ve stopped fighting for every breath
and taken a moment to smell the flowers at your feet
instead of choking on the dirt.

A service of tears and goodbyes
and perpetual promises that will never vanish,
but rather dull in the back of your mind
as you slowly relinquish your ability to remember,
to think back to simpler times.

The next morning’s sunrise is a stranger.
It is not the sun that kissed your face until you blushed,
that sent condensation dripping down your skin
as you roamed the length of her perfect beach.
It isn’t a sun at all,
but a cruel reminder of the days you were happy,
a replacement in the sky as if nature couldn’t handle
its perfect chaos a second longer.

You’re wearing black for a long time,
waiting for the day when you too might leave
for a while and come back to find yourself
deep in the throes of youth and bad decisions.
But for now,
you’ll stay in black.

The Moon Shiniest Bright

The full moon shiniest bright inside its double ringed circle as I hoped to see the blood moon meteorologist talked about all week.
Sad to say I missed the moment so many gazed with their telescopes and cameras.

I pulled back the white sheer curtain to see the full moon shining its soft shine into my dark room.
A brown curtain is all that keeps prying eyes from peeping in the sliding glass door at midnight.

The wooded area so close behind my house hides much.
No animals roaming, vertical or upright, can see me sitting, watching TV or on my iPad late into the wee hours of the morning.

October 8 2014 sees another blood moon, but I missed it all.
Maybe the next one will grace my eyes with its beauty.

What Spikes My Pulse

To sip sickly sweet cardamom
tea with cinnamon and honey
And eat cakes by the Parthenon
where the whole blue world is sunny

Not a single sweet iced daydream
not some drug induced affection
Can warm me like your mild sunbeams
and your smothering perfection

The potions that I, earthly, know
create happiness so it seems
But no gilded high nor base low
can match you in my fevered dreams

I snatch at the shiniest toys
I can't stop my sickly impulse
Of all the injectible joys
Your love is what spikes my pulse
