Best Self Assurance Poems
Behind the mask there is a frail and fragile me
Enigmas clothed in conundrums; that the naked I can’t see
'Behind the mask is concealed, my authenticity
Examine my history to unravel my perplexing mysteries
Behind the mask it is unseen paralyzing, piercing pain
With arrogance and self-assurance camouflaging the shame
Behind the mask is hidden my true Identity.
Seek and survey the signs of my obscurity
Behind the mask is veiled a heart that’s been broken
Held together by unexpressed resentment and animosity unspoken
Behind the mask is where my insecurity hides,
Like realism wrapped in riddles, you must read between the lines
Behind the mask is where I cover my falling tears
Dig just below the surface and you’ll unearth my crippling fears
Behind the mask there are cloaked secrets unexplained and untold
Decipher the symbols to crack my encrypted codes
Behind the mask you’ll uncover my True expressions
Remove and reveal parodies, and expose the false impressions
Behind the mask, it is hidden, my Individuality.
Not acting out some script of who I’m thought to be
Behind the mask is obscured my, vulnerability
Suppressing the mounting manifestation of the inner me
Behind the mask it is disguised, my true reflection
Underneath open wounds inflected by rejection
Behind the mask rest crushed and shattered dream
Where fear muzzles roaring whispers and screeching silent screams
Behind the mask is buried, my stolen youth
Deception, and cover-ups, masquerading as facts and truth
Behind the mask is where I screen the confusion
Look close and you’ll find, trickery and deception, draped in fantasy and optical
illusions
Behind the mask it’s stifling; it is hard for me to breathe,
The walls of deceit that i have built ,are quickly closing in on me.
I am trapped behind facades of smirks and phony smiles.
So may I please remove this mask just for a little while?
Chiquita Baity
She felt his presence by her side
Her first reaction – unimpressed.
She turned her head, a toss of hair,
The situation she assessed.
Maybe it was the dauntless smile
Perhaps the wicked twinkling eyes
The self-assurance in his poise...
Do warning bells ever suffice?
She sipped her drink and options weighed
He praised her looks and wispy gown
His flavoured words - delicacy
Her guard she weakly lowered down.
Till late at night beneath the stars
They danced to music, hands on hips
If ever doubts had crossed her mind
Erased they were by burning lips.
She found him suave and debonair
His face, ethereal, divine
Attentive eyes looked deep within
His lips still tasted of sweet wine.
The music played; he held her tight
Each sense alive and needing more
She whispered breathlessly to him,
"There's more to me you must explore."
Behind closed doors, he lay her down
And kissed each part that he undressed
Before her nakedness was shown
Her face he tenderly caressed.
"I will not take what is not mine;
You will not be a one night stand."
"My love," she said with bated breath,
You'll guide my life; I'll guide your hand."
A Callman Collaboration (Paul Callus and Eileen Manassian)
...so as the universe expands
I’m left at its existence end
Uncertain of my place in it
To keep aspiring in spite...
Appeasing it in a father figure
The sun - the lit end of a cigar
Feeling like an abandoned child
I let my imagination go wild...
I write with powerful imagery
Something like atomic energy
Self-assurance that my life does matter
Hoping that someday it’ll read my letters
I’m wondering where and when it all begun
When or if it’ll all ever get unspun
So with pen and paper I give it a face
In the silence of the vacuum of space

John lawless's DON'T FIGHT IT.....WRITE IT!!
Truth is easy to write as its fluidity resonates!
At times I read people well, and sometimes, not
This is one of those times I have it right, I believe
He’s an excellent poet with a gentle soul
Blessed with a wealth of knowledge
Already excelled in the craft, now he writes for the joy
Self-assurance shows and he's confident of his worth
Honor he bestows when he leaves comments on my poems
We are graced by the presence in our midst
Of a Doctor of Literature, so unassuming
Always courteous and seemingly devoid of ego
That he would bother to read my poems
Tells me I am not too bad at all
I can tell when he truly enjoys the read
And when he’s merely being polite
For me, Dr. Ram’s comments are better than gold

Although some are blessed with healing powers,
I can only offer comfort to you.
At your side I’ll be in your darkest hours
when your greatest hopes and dreams go askew.
Of monetary wealth I have little,
just concern, uplifting words to impart.
Feelings of trust are my best transmittal
when you feel crushed and your world falls apart.
For some it seems that friendship is fleeting,
but a commitment is what I can make.
As long as my true heart is beating,
take my unwavering hand when you shake.
If I can make you feel self assurance
when others have abandoned you in plight,
then count on me smiling -- a hope-filled glance --
a nonjudgmental friend who’ll not indict.

You say, my hair is too kinky and my nose is too broad
But I see perfection it’s your vision that’s flawed
Complexion of mahogany , defined too dark by some
But I see pure radiance, kissed by the sun
You say my lips are too full and my hips are too wide
But you can’t see my true beauty until you open your eyes
You say that my flaws depict my inferiority
But rest assured that your chaotic view do not define me
You say that I’m conceited, but I say you lied
It’s just the grace of my walk and the elegance of my stride
You say that I’m egotistical and full of arrogance
What you really see is self-assurance, grace, and confidence
You say I’m attention seeking, too bold, and too proud
But I say uniqueness always stands out in a crowd
You say that I’m vain and I think I’m God’s gift to this earth
But I know my true value
I fully understand my worth.
If Helen of Troy possessed the beauty that launch a thousand ships across treacherous seas.
Then I possess the magnificence that brings all men to their knees.

A Callman Collaboration (Paul Callus and Eileen Manassian)
Yo, how long has it been since you quit trying?
Or perhaps your your self-assurance is cooled and drying.
Maybe it is your arrogance that's fortifying
Your state of mind that's forever verifying.
Self-reliance and discretion in latitude,
Confidential secrets kept in gratitude.
Our laziness is a companion to platitude;
Of course we all know it's really an attitude.
So where do you go from here to appreciate
Lessons of objective differentiate?
Making the changes to complete your self-portrait,
Faith and belief reconstruct, reconciliate.
Temerity must fall by the wayside while you persue
Those things given to provide discression to you.
Tact, talent, trust, and truth are the tools we use to work through
Order and procedures that program anew.
Seeing the bigger picture creates flexibility
Thinking carefully opens avenues of discernability.
Your new state of mind, simply served with humility
Shows what fun life can be when you re-think your ability.
she was amorphous,
shapeless and humble-
no ethereal sky could
release her self-assurance
her lassitude ran wild-
for she was weary since birth,
sacrificing what was never hers
for the chase of redemption
ceasing who she was to become
as i stacked sandbags against
the river of her sorrow-
created a dam to make sure
she would stay safe and dry
i wear propinquity like
a silk blanket as i start to
reminisce on all the opulence
she longed for
her insouciance was
a blithe nonchalant notion-
verses of fear prevail in
subtle solitude,
and
i am left without breath,
alone without the ability
to release what used to
be mine…
~for it’s always been her~
wrapped up in a floppy
cardboard box tightly
wound with a dull ruby ribbon-
there was no way out,
lost in a lopsided labyrinth
laden in a tomb too coarse
to decay,
she awaited the day disarray
went adrift-
craving a heavenly haven,
abandoned and graven;
she weeps in woe –
seraphs begin to pray...
for death is none but a moment away

Exalted Words Poetry Contest
Chantelle Anne Cooke
I chose these words because I thought they would fit well
with my theme of loneliness and sorrow about the sad life
my sister led before taking her life. I struggle daily, still,
after almost 10 years. Each word uses the imagery of the
emotions she felt dealing with depression and anxiety.
She was so sad and troubled, though the most beautiful
woman I ever met.

* If you want to be in their heart tomorrow, be in their life today.
Touch the cornerstone of parenthood, love them with fervent
Open hearted dedication. As a mother or father, only you can give them the
Upbringing they need, the understanding of themselves. Just love them and
Caress their souls with inspiration. Help them to achieve their dreams ,
Holding nothing back. Live for them and enjoy the contentment of parenthood;
And when they grow up and are ready to spread their wings and fly, don't
Negate their desires. Love is all about letting go, share space, then
Do the right thing by them. Do not raise them co-dependent but sane
Guide them and teach them self assurance and self acceptance
Only you can guide them lovingly. So bless them, everyday.

Know that I am filled with light
Reflecting off of your heart, your soul
Your imagination and inspiration
Your kindness, hope and more…
Your glow of gladness soothing me
With sensations, like whispers,
Grazing my spirit with their laughter
Coloring me in hues of lavender
Happily illuminating my loving nature
With peppering raindrops of hope
Know that I am filled with faith
Flowing through me in waves of grace
Like music playing across the way
Smiling at the promise of kindness
Drifting along, like a tide, waiting
For the moment when it can rise
Swiftly sharing its complete truth
The wish for one moment of self-assurance
Breaking the barriers of pain and worry
Praising the One who is always worthy
Know that I am your thoughts
Longing to color your heart in truth
Invaluable and intense and inspiring
Alive in ways that I can’t explain
With silence that screams of miracles
Wonders to sustain your heart
Through warmth, hope, love that lives
To give a part of me to your thoughts
Where I yearn to live eternally waiting
For your prompt to give my embrace
Sweet love of mine, know that I am
Filled with a spirit of kind-heartedness
That loves you with compassion that breaths
Exhilaration, imagination, self-confidence
Love that breaths intimacy and insight
Laughter, truth and complete devotion
To the heart that has taken me in and given
Safety from harm, light that rises at dawn
Starry skies in the night, echoes of warmth
Welcoming me home to a heart that is family
Sweet love of mine… You are my home!
I love it when he looks a me,
It makes me feel so free.
I love it when he stares,
It seems as though I am stuck in the glares.
I love it when he talks,
And especially when he walks.
He communicates with so much confidence,
And paces with self-assurance.
I love it when he smiles,
That alone will motivate me to run for miles.
I love it when he touches me,
It makes me want to be his one and only.
I love it when he's near,
He never allows any fear.
He is my mentor,
And also my protector.
I love it when we are together,
I always feel better.
I love it when we conversate,
Even doing just that will make me want to date.
I love it when we share our similarities,
Like when we sit at home and do pilaties.
But for right now, we need to keep our relationship professional,
Until that day I become legal.
my face was as s c a r r e d as my soul -
my once silky-smooth skin turned worn and rough,
years of weather bellowed each fiber;
lines curve down my cheeks from laughter,
and spots of age settled above my brow-
(for getting older has its price)
the metaphor of my face became my obsession-
glass never reflected what i hoped,
never gave enough time for wounds to heal;
hope s h a t t e r e d beneath my feet,
the same feet that once gave me freedom...
and i am left staring into
a zenith of stars
fall
ing
as they try to rescue me
~from MY mirror~
like a magnet i was drawn to insecurity
then the crippling fear i finally shook-
the scars mended with peace of mind,
faded into a myriad of self-assurance
~~~~
a w i l t e d face can be renewed;
my skin no longer supple
and
hasn’t been toned for years
but
each line has meaning,
tells an endless tale-
a tale of LOSS
and
a tale of LOVE
N-A rerun 5 Poetry Contest
John Hamilton
Watching the movie "Wizard of the Oz”, what do I see,
Cowardly lion does not have courage,
"Courage! What makes the flag on the mast to wave?",
'What others have got that I ain't got with lack of self-confidence? '
'What others have got that I ain't got with lack of self-confidence?'
Whenever I tried to create my image,
I felt ignored, lonely, and found no one listening to my nervous voice,
Fearful and hurt, I was losing my self-confidence.
Fearful and hurt, I was losing my self-confidence,
Till I heard the voice, Look over your audience,
Speak your heart out, let the people hear in silence,
Think of the ways to build your self-confidence.
Think of the ways to build the self-confidence,
Overcome the despair with the visions of hope,
Overcome the fear with acts of self-assurance,
As a last act, think you are as superior than anyone else.
