Premium Member The True Meaning of Christmas

What does this wintry holiday truly mean, called Christmas?
Is it the cost of a present, or if you get what is on your long
Extended wish list.
No, my friend it means so much more, spiritually, emotionally,
Loves magical wonderment lives within all beings, great and small.
Loved ones gather from far and near, sharing this uplifting gift, of
Good will and cheer.
Bright lights of glamor, shiny ribbons and bows, are nothing compared,
To the pure joy shared on Christmas morning, when the youngsters awake,
Running down stairs wondering if Santa Clause came.
Or to receive an unexpected gift, a visitor from a great distance,
Coming home after serving his country.
God bless our service man and women whom have given their best,
So we at home may remain free.
Heart in hand we honor these the best of us, whom represent our
Wondrous nation.
What lies beneath the sacred Christmas tree, means very little,
It is just a price tag, with pretty paper wrapped around it.
Hugs and kisses from my grand kids, mean more to me,
Or their lovely drawings of snowmen scotch tape to the frig,
Rate the most valuable in this grandma eyes than silver chains
Of gold.
How does one measure his wealth, in dollar signs, or
Possession, nay it is judged by how much one is loved,
And gives love in return.
This is the true meaning of this holiday,
And so
I will honor Christmas in my heart,
And try to keep it all the year.
Always to be the best I can be, to those special,
People in my life, friends, family, and humanity
In general.
After all a smile, or a helping hand can go
A long way these day, just try it and you'll
Find out.
Merry Christmas to all, and remember
To always to pay it forward.

Freedom Denied

Sometime along the way,
The crossroads shifted.

Everything has changed,
As the innocence has drifted.

Vulnerable to existence,
And leaning to repentance

The maniacs in her head are just as relentless
As a bad memory just keeps pushing through her thoughts

She didn’t know how to stop it, for she was never taught
A rug on the ground, for she did not learn how to walk
The only hope she had was praying on a shamrock

She had none
She had no faith, no truth
The only virtue she claimed
Was the humanly lust
To survive this hell-hole and break from the cuffs
Dreaming for the day she can finally say “enough”

But what then?
Say she does gain the strength,
To finally rise up and break from the chains
The ropes that seized her mind
Shackles that detained her courage
If those restraints fell loose,
Will the world malnourish?

Looking back at the “thing” she had escaped,
A society falling apart
As if attached with scotch tape
Crumbling to pieces
As sanity is lost
No one seemed to mind,
How madness had become the boss

Premium Member Nothing But Fig Leafs

They say Adam and Eve pranced around wearing nothing

But fig leafs and the biggest grins the world has ever seen

Imagine NO FREAKING RULES!!!

All they had to worry about were those thorny bushes

And the occasional lightning bolt accompanied by a loud booming voice

Reminding Adam, “You owe me big time for this one, my friend!”

Caine and Abel along with seven other offsprings

Were the result of a lot of hanky panky

Do you blame him??? He was the luckiest dude EVER!!!

My question is, how did they keep those fig leafs in place

Scotch Tape? Elmer's Glue? Velcro?

Also why did they need those damn things to begin with

There wasn't another living soul to be seen

Imagine today, if we walked around naked as a jaybird

The population of the world would soar from 7 billion

To well over 20 billion in a matter of nine months counting twins

I'm not saying we couldn't carry on as usual with our daily routine

But perhaps the routine would be interrupted now and then

I have a suggestion for future generations if this becomes a problem

Think of Drew Carey naked!

Premium Member Happy Birthday Joyce

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOYCE

Born before the hair dryer
And even before hearing aids
Frozen foods and television
Pop-up toasters and aerosol sprays

Jet engines, folding wheel chairs
Scotch tape to stick things down
No parking meters, electric blankets
These items were not around

But God in His infinite wisdom
Knew what the world would need
A great poet named Joyce Johnson
To write poems for folks to read

She acknowledges God in her poetry
Her poems have become her voice
Happy Birthday to you my dear
We truly love you Joyce

Gift Wrapped

Gift Wrapped

Christmastime is package-time,
Paper everywhere,
Ribbons, cards, and string, till I’m
Almost bound to swear!
(Scotch tape in my hair…).

Premium Member The Control Connoisseur

•	She was a control connoisseur.
•	Her hair was afraid to move.
•	Church ladies called her daily to ask permission
•	To move a basket of flowers
•	To open the Baptists' refrigerator
•	To use the blue pitcher left by the last minister’s wife
•	Her scotch tape was afraid to tear wrong.
•	Her husband had to raise his hand to go to the bathroom.
•	So glad he did not raise his hand to ask for children.
At least they were spared the control connoisseur.

Premium Member A Broken Ornament How I fixed It

An ornament fell
Quickly to the floor
An angel object
She holds a lantern
Held held high in her hand
When the angel fell

The lantern came off
When the angel fell
I grabbed the scotch tape
Now the angel fixed
She is good as new

Premium Member What Have You Lost

backpacks, rugs, shoes, a couch or two, lots of junk from a junk drawer,
what kind of junk?
Just general junk.
Can you itemize it?
pennies,
scissors,
toothbrushes,
matches,
pens,
eyeglasses,
toothpaste,
combs,
dog chews,
nickles,
necklaces,
rings,
thread,
dimes,
a quarter or two,
balloons,
Scotch tape.
Not an off brand? Scotch?
I stare at the imaginary appraiser in my daydream.
What would I do in a fire?
I guess I had better never have one.
Or I might become a murderess as well as an arsonist.

Premium Member My Desk In a Nutshell

On my work desk there is a junk pile of career dolls,
A pile of papers, and one that oftentimes falls.
Along with an enormous empty blue water cup,
Stapler, scotch tape, stuffed animals, a little pink pup.

Six kitty cat notebooks with mismatched pages.
Hot cocoa mix, and a big can of refried beans,
Sore throat spray, a half-eaten container of juice,
A ripped up diary that once had a cover of puce.

Yellow lemonade that is disgustingly dried out and hard.
My staid colleagues often come in here for crazy hats and lard.
Pile of boring textbooks, one stuck open, and little germs unseen.
Dried ball of playdough. Six half-eaten chocolate bars from last Halloween.

A bunch of mismatched forks, a light up Christmas necklace that glows.
A discouraged keyboard, amid Kleenexes once stuffed up a nose.
The custodian opens the door, snakes her hand in
and grabs the waste paper can.
She will never be the right choice to lead my big fat
brass retirement band.

But when other people need something on a particular day,
They run into my office, and they scream, jumping around, and they say,
We know you have it somewhere. Can you find it? Do you think?
And I always hand them what they want, my hands smeared with fresh ink.

I'Ll Be There

You wake up crying..
Your heart is choking you and you feel like dying.
The pain that you try to contain..
The pain that you try to explain..
But no one hears your quiet screams.
It seems, your buried your heart so the beats can be calm.
But all I ask is that you bury your heart in my palms.
Like the air you might not see me, but you can breathe me
And believe me, I'll always be there whenever you need me.
You died in my eyes
So your soul flows with my tears when I cry.
You buried your past into the ground and the pain grew into a rose.
I water it with the tears of my memories so it can grow.
Give me your heart so I can hold it
I love you like God loves the Devil, but he doesn't like to show it.
I'll hug you like a tree hugs the ground.
I'll hug you like the sky hugs the clouds.
Your heart oozes
It's covered in scotch tape and bruises.
I hold it carefully to cover the cracks
And everyday you go through a gentle heart attack.
I'll always be there like an organ in your body.
I'll always be there whenever you need somebody.
I dry your tears from the feathers of your wings
Your heart is warmer than the devil in the spring.
You're an angel in disguise
You've been tangled through the lies
You shine like a rainbow in my eyes every time when you cry.
There's a garden in your face
And every time you cry, you water them in place... the roses in your cheeks.
There's a puddle of pain in your dimples that I drown in.
Let my words erase the pain that you've been through.
Your heart is the only thing I commit to
Just know that I'll always be there..

Garage Sale

Max is back in his favorite chair.
I mended the chew with scotch tape.

Waiting for curious buyers to buy,
My beautiful things for the sale.
As I also wait for rain, I write.

I let the dogs enjoy the fresh air.
Three people stopped by, bought.
I put back for me and my children.

I called a cab, he loads donations
Into his van. Off we go for drop,
And get gas for my little gold car.

Premium Member Things I Do Not Need

I have six thousand things in my house that I do not need
Cannot find, do not hope to find. I would rather call Amazon
And have them bring me scotch tape, a hammer and nails
Than try to find them again, and I used them yesterday.

The day that three different people delivered something here
In an Amazon box. One picture frame, but I had ordered five.
Do not worry, my husband said, the other four are coming.
Today? I asked. Yes, believe it or not, they did.

Good thing too. I had painted five paintings specifically for
Those frames, the day before. That is how fast I am, and how
Compulsive I am and how determined I am to do whatever I
Want to do whenever I want to do it ….except organize stuff.

Premium Member Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas- we heard not a peep
for our three little kids were in bed fast asleep.
We looked up at each other and knew it was time
to wrap bundles of gifts before midnight's last chime.

We then stacked all the paper and bows tucked away
and the presents for them we bought for Christmas day;
made ourselves nice and comfy on our playroom floor-
but then, all of a sudden- a knock at the door!

Running fast to the window, there was no one there-
just some branches from limbs that fell down in the air.
The wind fiercely sped up with a storm coming through;
At once, all the street lights disappeared from our view!

Now, our whole house turned dark- no lit tree to be seen.
This big power shutdown was bad news- unforeseen.
Our tall stack of nice presents still waiting for wrap;
Perhaps lanterns with candles could help fill the gap.

And yet, try as we may, wrapping presents? Not good!
Scotch tape's missing from the shelf where it always stood.
With these presents so large, it was needed for sure;
there is no other way to keep wrapping, secure.

Closed our eyes and we thought- what else now could we do?
We're so tired, we can't see, now without scotch tape too!
"Oh, I got it, I said, a new no-wrap technique!
In dark nooks plant these gifts- we can play hide and seek!"
