Snow falls softly late one night
In the darkness it does bask
I dread the job tomorrow
Shoveling will be my task
Beauty is in the eyes of the viewer
I see nothing but giant flakes of work
The trees all have snow on this first shower
Dreading the day of a job using torque
The pathways are snowed over
All with a reflective white
I want to get to bed soon
For I know tomorrow’s plight
I’m mesmerized by the beautiful scene
Not a thing is without some wondrous snow
Even though I sure do dread the next day
I will put on a great, wonderful show
This time of year affects me
Seems to rub off some great cheer
I will find a way to smile
Though there’s snow up to my rear

There is adventure, just waiting, as I open the door
A tiny bell sings a tinkle, (old lyrics, perhaps)
To a place of discovery... inviting me in...
But offers in fact, enough excitement to thrill me
I often drop by, one chance for a glance
A dingy old store ..., this place I adore..
I scour the junk, the discarded old trunk, a bit of history in disguise
Elbow to elbow, wall to wall...a sea of collectibles to capture my eyes
Upon every visit, a brand new dilemma...how will I decide in the gloom?
How can I use this? Should I buy that? Will I have room?
Nothing like it in the world! Nothing so lovely, oh how I love this little shop!
Will it be cheap?....Something lost in a heap?....It beckons me to stop!
As the lifting down from the dusty shelves, the musty scent of wood
Telling a story...pungent and sweet....restore it?....I could!!
That antique rocker, perhaps it was lonely....so lost and cold
Or those dusty dishes...on the shelf...I rub off the grime..the flowers are gold!
Oh yes...I could give it new life....let it see sun, won't it be fun?!
Buried beneath the rubbish.....where do I begin?
A treasure, I'll think...Soon after the clink that nourishes a till
For mere pennies...I will haul it home...paint, polish or shine...that's the thrill!
How divine! Once it was theirs..., lost in a time zone...now it is mine...
Swift on the track of the years that had left it behind....
LAUGH IT OFF
BERNITA THE BOLIVIAN COUGER
BERNITA SHUFFLES OVER TO THE MAKEUP COUNTER, WITH GLASSES SLIDING OFF HER NOSE AND EYES PINNED TO THE SALES GIRL LIKE A TAIL ON A DONKEY. " I'D LIKE TO RETURN THIS CHEEK POWDER MISSY, IT MAKES ME LOOK LIKE A TART ! I GET CHASED AFTER BY YOUNG MEN AND AT MY AGE I'M LIABLE TO BREAK A HIP OR WORSE, DISLOCATE MY KNEE CAP!"
THE SOFT SPOKEN GIRL LIVES ON STRINGBEAN PATIENCE EACH TIME MRS.B. REAPPEARS TO IRK HER WITH HER OLD ANTICS. WITH A SIGH SHE CREDITS HER THE PRODUCT THEN WATCHES, AS SHE PICKS UP A QUAD CANE AND HEADS FOR THE INCONTINENCE DEPT. IN A BOLIVIAN ACCENT THAT REFUSES TO LOSE ITS PATRIOT TONGUAMALASH SHE SAYS, "I'M OFF TO FIND DEPENDS. NOT A WORD ABOUT THIS TO ANYONE MISSY. A LADY SHOULD NEVER SHOW SIGNS OF LOSING HER TINKLES OR SPILLING HER BOWELS !" (HER THIN PURSED LIPS TELL ANOTHER STORY STILL, THE SALESGIRL OBLIGES)
A WEEK PRIOR, MRS. B. RETURNED A 24 HOUR LIPSTICK. THE SALES GIRL TRIED A LITTLE HUMOR THAT DAY, "IT WILL RUB OFF AFTER A FEW KISSES MRS. B., DON'T FRET, JUST ENJOY THE LIPSTICK !" (HALAS IT FELL ON DEAF EARS) MRS. B. WAS ALREADY HEADING FOR THE SOAP ISLE MUMBLING IN SOLIDARITY... "A LITTLE LYE, CAN FIXES EVERYTHING "
NEVER MIND TELLING HER THAT LYE SOAP WAS ONLY SOLD ON AMAZON THESE DAYS. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AS USELESS AS TELLING HER THAT "EVENING IN PARIS PERFUME" HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED SINCE 1969. "HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY MRS. B." SHE SAYS, AS SHE HEADS FOR THE COFFEE SHOP AND ORDERS HERSELF A WELL DESERVED, DOUBLE DOUBLE.
WRITTEN BY: VIENNA BOMBARDIERI AKA MYSTIC ROSE
Behind the mighty structures of brick and stone,
Are the naked hands of people who stand alone,
Fighting against all odds through the sun & rain,
Until the last drop of their energy drains.
A group of faceless people lacking urbanity,
Yet striving each day for their pride and vanity,
To build castles of dream for their family & kids,
So they don’t have to suffer, the way they themselves did.
With tanned, battered bodies and soiled sores,
They are forever ready to take on more,
Only to earn enough to make ends meet,
And manage a jhuggi on the narrow street.
No matter how often they drop to the ground,
With illness or by exhaustion downed,
The hope of a bright new day in their eyes,
Makes them rub off the dust and rise.
No matter if they have to stay miles apart,
From friends & families so dear to their heart,
The lamp of hope within them is always alive,
The grit of a labor isn’t dead till they die.
(Tongue planted firmly in cheek)
In spite of my loving nature
In spite of being an Olympic skater
In spite of my charming way with the ladies
And my absolute love of wee babies
In spite of having a voice that rocks
And looks so dashing wearing just socks
In spite of my hair that's a silvery white
And a tan that doesn't rub off every night
In spite of a fabulous smile I possess
And stunning good looks, yup you guessed
Though I do admit I've got a naughty side
Some of the above, well I might have lied
Especially about looking good in just socks
People at times, they yell and throw rocks
But that doesn't phase me, I know I'm a charmer
Perhaps I should wear a steel suit of armour
It'a all in fun, I'm not really a looker
Forgot to mention, I'm real good at snooker

Jack is my name, laughter is my game
If I can make just one person giggle
It's mission accomplished for me
It's my goal in life in my retirement years
I'm happy so why not let some of it rub off
Everyone gets to where I am eventually
Unless war or some unfortunate mishap
Interrupts their journey along the way
Personally, I've been extremely fortunate
Never really suffered from any serious health issues
Might say I'm possibly putting a jinx on myself
If you believe in that sort of stuff... which I don't
I put it down to good genes...
A healthy lifestyle and exercise
Once you adjust, the routine becomes a lot easier
Until you actually look forward to the daily routine
As you greet each brand new day
I WISH YOU MUCH LUCK!!!

I feel sad today
Even though I'm not supposed to, I do
Sometimes it just sneaks up and overwhelms me
Fills my entire being with gloom
And the tears roll slowly, unstoppable
Never sobbing just rolling continuously
Down my face, I can't even explain why
Other than I'm tired,so tired of the battle
Battling constant pain is so boring
No one but those in pain understand
Because its invisible unseen it's also unexplainable
People get tired of listening to how badly I truly feel
After a while the friends I had are gone
They can't hear it anymore or somehow
I think they feel it will rub off on them.
So I try so hard to keep the facade
Pretend I'm okay, look good when I'm out
Trying to play the role of a normal person
When the fear of showing my invisible pain
Scares me that it will be as ugly as it feels
Pretending that it doesn't hurt, that I'm not praying
That it will go away so I will be whole again.
I hate the pills, the shots, the visits to any doctor.
It is not a life, just an existence that plagues my soul
Filling it with so much guilt for forcing my child
To have to live with a mother always in pain.
But eventually it ends, I push through this
Darkness that encapsulates me.
I try to coach myself into the next move
Pulling out of this cave of dreariness
And I pretend that I'm okay, and I move on
Constantly fighting, this cross I bear.
I pray that it is all for not.
I hope that someday it will stop
And I can be the me I want to be
Do the things I want and need to do
And then people will start to
Listen, and hear me again.
But, for now, the tears flow
Slowly healing releasing the tortured soul
Cleansing it for another day when
My steam kettle can hold no more
Sadness.
Jennifer Marie Oliver
Hey you sweet and frightened little girl
Lift up your eyes and look at me
I know, I know exactly how you do feel
I am you, you are me; and for this I shall tell you some words of secrecy
Pray, be not so downcast
The bad days do never last
Someday, what you do see as being hell, will be of the past
So pray, to pain and hurt and humiliation, do not cling on so fast
Worry not if nobody does ever see you
Someday your wonder worth shall come out
Then, everyone shall praise you
So please, rub off from your face, that scary pout
Life does not be so hard
Of course, you should be cautious,
You are after all, a being so precious
But mind you, life shall be for you, a glorious reward
Instead of focusing on trying to find love among those who do roam the Earth
Pray, build up your faith
Love does be of several forms
One of them does come from the divine realms
Someday, you shall come to know of what I do mean
Then, you shall regret for having wasted away your days
Then, you shall care not whether you are sixty or sixteen
For life does be not true, mind what the holy book says
Love rather, those who do be there for you
Love your family, your closed ones, those who do battle for you
Serve them, instead of always being angry
Reward them, instead of always moping around, feeling always so sorry
Mind not if you do dream too much
Someday, your dreams you will reach
Someday, to the world you shall teach
That dreams do come true, that the secret lies in knowing how to search!
Care a bit more about your studies
Care for them as to the future, they do hold the keys
I know you do realize not, for blinded you are in the false
I know, worn out you are, in trying to find your own voice!
But hey, listen, life shall be beautiful
Someday, it shall sing for you, a melody
Someday, it shall end, all dutiful
So please, care not to be so moody!
Full of viss and pinegar lately
Do I really need to explain
Sailing along on top of the world
Mr. Happy Pants is my name
Ignore all that real nasty stuff
It sure ain't gonna get any better
Live for the moment, enjoy yourself
Be a happiness trend setter
It will definitely rub off on others
On everyone you meet and see
You'll soon have the reputation
For being a source of joy like me
So giggle, chuckle, let out a roar
The time is fast running out
To change the way we live our lives
With viss and pinegar I shout

BEING BROWN
my color does not rub off
on any one, said the brown
to the white, nor does it pale
on being exposed to you
we could share the same spa,
the water will not change color
don’t turn your face, your
back speaks the same language
as your steps echo the thoughts
laid bare, I may not react but
leave, turn back, with my body
dripping drops of abject dismay
you become the looking glass, denying
me my reflection, as in life everything
is a cause and effect, as are we, of the
same cause, two different effects, just
the same causes presented differently,
such is the way of our known world
each time distaste is displayed, the
belief rises from layers of your past
to rèflect on your being - though
the scriptures prohibit, convenience
beckons and provides the blinkers
in this sequestered life of choosing
‘Tat tvam asi’ – you are what
you are – and I am the beautiful
me, without bleach and beyond the
veil – and, are we not all travelers
in search of the truth from the finite
to the infinite, in our equal existence
you do not get everything you
desire, since your life is chained to
your karma – your choices form
your destiny – not always in
black and white but often displayed
in many shades, mostly in between
We are a part of the form and the
formless, You can hurt the brown in
the form not in the Formless, so do
not judge - as you will be carrying
The baggage of a your fears in your
form searching the formless in time
In dreams that shelter hope, you
live, with goals that were never
complete - despite the faith or the
lack of it - as they ignored much of
the colour around – do your worst,
as the best in me, is yet to come
we will all be probably born again,
when the colours of this life change
our present life may dictate the next
as the past catches up in time, and
perhaps, we will meet once again,
when I am white and you brown

Let our hands interlock into a
beautiful zipper of prayer and
take pride in being african!
"What is the pride of being
african"
Asks a girl- unknowing of the
roots from which her family
tree grows ..
The lines on the palm of her
hands resemble the veins of
the african leaves she was
born into. Her
Bi-racial hair curled up in locks
of african beauty
Nd yet she asks " what is the
pride of being african?
An african woman whose only
pride is the curve of her hips
and the natural arch of her
back- ignoring the map with
which her mind can make- or
the different shades of brown
her skin radiates into the rich
airs of africa..
In the middle of an undeclared
war
We uncounciously submit to a
mental slavery ..seeking
comfort in the pains of the
past.. Slitting our rists with
resentment and self pity..
Handicappin our minds -
moving forward but still
arriving at the previous
destination!
Such wounded nations!
Why do we scrape the african
tatoo in the arteries of our
hearts by poking the the past
makin way for its venom to
make us bitter...
Perpetually impregnating our
minds
Only to give birth to a
vendetta!
Is that the pride of being
African!
Adding insult to injury
we duck and cover
Hidding from the touch of rain
Shieldin ourselves from the
sun's smile
But then.. Then we embraced
the weather and posed in the
sun as if God was takin a
piicture..
Then children with no toys
believed they could transform
oxygen into gold
Then a mother through trials
nd tribulations could still find a
corner within the circle of her
mud hut
Then the diamonds of Africa
lay in the sparkling eyes of a
new born -raised to the
heavens as an African
declaration
I listen to the invisible wind
chimes made by mother
nature
Singing songs of praise
Painting african countries on
this canvas we call Africa!
I see the poetry that lies
within future Nelson
Mandelas.. Seretse Khamas..
Futures You's and Me's
I inhale the soils and all the
memories imprinted on them
jus as Africa is imprinted on
me -
I rub off hurtful footprints of
hunger
slavery..
All for the pride of being
african
Let our hands interlock like a
beautiful zipper of prayer- nd
take pride in being african
Between these words and this paper lie my feelings
They hold the connection together, no piercings
So abstract I just want to get lost in them
I think I have found a reason not to analyse them
They are multiplying inside, creating families within me
They all have the same vision; to one day make their way out of me
Their seeds are planted in me as a contigency plan to ensure constant
reproduction
They remain on standby for her name to be called
Her beauty speaks a language only understood by them, no subtitles
I speak on their behalf, no rank given to me, basically no titles
To their distinguished calculations i'm not fighting back
I lay words on this paper that gives it life, can't read them from the back
I say, write and do whatever is asked of me and in some twisted way I
approve of it
The new and the old feelings have combined forces, breaking through
sometimes hearing myself saying.........
"Her lips give authorisation for my imagination to work overtiime
Her beauty is painted all over my art gallery for the world to see
Once I have a look at those eyes I can never seem to find my way back to me
Her exquisite taste in everything got me wishing it could rub off on me
Yes, though i'm crazy about her, i'm not nuts
She deserves a yearly supply of cashew nuts
Although she prefers everything sour, I think she's absolutely sweet
Shhhhhhhh, an underground comedian, absolutely hilarious
Her laugh is amazing, her scientifically proven way of displaying excitement"
I need a special task team to keep these feelings under control
A negotiator to evaluate the terms and conditions keeping it under control
But then again where would I be without these feelings.

All Day Tomorrow
( a cast of characters in song )
Homeless Jo and Jane:
We've got all day tomorrow,
to wait by the New Jersey shore,
to beg for a nickel
'cause we're in a pickle.
No end to us being so poor.
Tonight let us rub off our bruises,
tonight let us sing bright and gay.
We filled up our bellies,
the storefront has telly.
Tomorrow may bring a good day.
Parson at the pulpit:
We've got all day tomorrow,
to dry all the tears we will shed.
Our Blessings are fickle.
'cause we're in a pickle.
We can't count the hairs on our head.
Tonight let us kneel with our Savior,
tonight pass on worries what may.
Hand all of our cares
to Jesus upstairs.
Tomorrow may bring a good day.
Children:
We've got all day tomorrow,
for skinning our knees out at play.
We've no butter brickle.
We haven't a nickel.
We're poor as the kids in Bombay.
Tonight all our bellies will grumble,
tonight, while the folks are away,
we'll run through the halls,
and mark up the walls.
Tomorrow may bring a good day.
And so on, and so forth with Parents, Fire Fighters, EMT's, Police Officers, Imam's, Rabbi's, Old West Gunslingers, Suffragettes, Pig Farmers, Bankers, Bad Guys in dark alleys, Peppermint Patty, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Odin, Cats, Screen Guild Members, and the Shadowy Neighbor next door who no one wants to meet.
Look at yourself and tell me what you see
Don't tell me something I know not to be true
Hold the mirror that will show the beauty I see
Your eyes of warmth that have been exposed to things unseeable
Even some unspeakable
Skin so soft and tender to the touch
Fingers run across it and the smell of shae butter and cocoa butter rub off into the air
A body that is so mesmerizing that I feel as if I'm looking at a goddess
But I don't have to take a second glance
You are the goddess I see
Heart, face, eyes and soul are broken
But I have the glue
You have said that you were always ending up alone
Well truth be told you never were
You were just blinded by your past that you couldn't see what was in front of you
Look now because here I am standing before you
Tears fell on the ground but here I am to catch them before they even develop
You were put here on this earth for a reason
You have a destiny that's just yet to be put into light
You have the obligation to live out this life
Your soul will be restored but you have to look beyond your past
The pain will heal when you open your heart to the ones who care
You do have people who care
Don't believe me then look in my eyes
I love you with all my heart
It took me some time to realise and come up with the words because love is a strong word
Once said it can't be unsaid
When I said it and say it I meant it
My words are true
Don't believe me then take a look in my eyes and tell me otherwise
Still don't believe?
Then I will just have to prove to you
As time goes on you shall see that I am being real
He Doesn't Rub, Off,
I'm Stuck On You,
Like A Tattoo, Inked,
To My Skin, Brightly,
Diamond, Sparkled,
And Full Of A Richness,
Paradise, For Your,
Beauty Is , Exquisitely,
Dazzling, The Kind, I Wear
In Pride, To Marry...
