Welcome New Poet To Poetry Soup,
I offer you a warm smile, in hopes you come back another day.
From the moment I spot your name on the new poet list,
I roll out the welcome mat, in hopes you will stay
I am not afraid of you, I will approach you to say hello
I will Annoy you until you stop by and say "YELL-OW!"
Please have patience, when my ink has no flame
Don't be intimidated by The Poet Destroyer's name,
I'm sweet looking like a lollipop and fun like a kitten
"Warning!" Don't get too close or you'll be smitten,
You can choose to adore or instigate petitions of envy
When it comes to PD
Even then I am a friendly poet, protected by God's loving levee

It's time to introduce myself, call me Linda or PD
Unless, you're in constant warfare for the dominance of poetry
Then by all means, express yourself retard-ly
Verbalize my name, in any which way you like
Call me The Poet Destroyer, when tapping the mic
All though many here know I'm more of a Poet Supporter
A comment crusader, a poetic hoarder
I have no shame in my game,
I give, I love, I treat everyone the same

Unwind, Enjoy all the Xoolness coming to your direction
Inspiration, Contest, Friendly Poets, Poems, and Dedications
I am not a mentor, I'm not a preacher advocating the perfect poem
I am me, original as can be, in time you will seek out my troupe
Reminiscing, over the time I was your first,
Regale with loving respect, don't judge my hunger and poetic thirst
To all new poets I promise, I'll be faithful and follow you like a star
Unless, you forget to put gas while side showing in my crystalline car

Don't worry, New Poetic Poe, I got your back
Taunting you with a copy paste smack
Call it a "--Statement--" call it what you want
I call it, Love From PD, enjoying the community
With a simple hello, and peace out spree
CONGRATULATIONS, to all who made it through the years
Ain't nobody here worth more than you and your poetry
Take this time, and introduce yourself my new friend
Remember New Poet:
If it weren't for you, this place would be 2005 all over again

I welcomed you twenty twenty, a brand spanking new year
But all you brought with you was death, misery and fear
So I'll be glad to see the back of you and cant wait 'till you're gone
And I hope for better times in the year twenty twenty one.

You've left behind some' bad stuff' like covid nineteen
But hopefully it'll be defeated when they roll out the vaccine
Wearing masks and not seeing family, well that's been quite hard
But while you still lurk about, I won't drop my guard.

World leaders were floundering, not quick enough to act
Putting their economies before people and that is a fact
If only they'd looked at history, like the great Spanish flu
They'd have been a lot wiser and would've known what to do.

The news reported acts of kindness in every country
Like front line health workers who risked their lives for humanity
Sadly many of those brave heroes died needlessly
Because governments were too slow to provide proper P. P. E.

Viruses are nothing new and they'll come back again
We must stop destroying mother earth for financial gain
Upsetting natures balance causes these viruses to thrive
Mankind really needs to take notice if he wants to survive.

Cramming animals into cages is a pitiful sight
But mother nature is watching and is preparing to fight
Razing forests and dumping rubbish and polluting the sea
Is a recipe for disaster that'll bring untold misery.

So good riddance or go do one, many people will say
I'd remove all records of you if I had my way
People will always remember you for bringing misery and tears
And there will be much joy and relief as twenty twenty one nears.

When the clock strikes midnight, so happy I'll be
As twenty twenty sinks into the dark annals of history
But stay awake mankind and listen to the experts that know
I don't want to be the one saying "well I told you so".

Premium Member Pizza America's Favorite

Thick or thin, it is the Friday night order in special,
Supreme or meat lovers delight, whatever toppings
You like it, does not matter for it’s
The all American favorite, Pizza!!
Roll out that dough, cover it with Italians specialty
Sauce, cheese me to please me, I’ll never get enough,
I’m simply addicted to this deep dish pan delicious stuff.
Cut me no single slice, for more, more, more,
Is the thunderous roar of my mighty hungering’s
Rumbling, within my tummy, for what Pizza!!!
Circled or squared, just roll that pizza cutter of
Portions pleasure, pick up your slice and allow
That thick cheese to pull apart naturally,
Then bite into Nirvana, for this is heavens
Perfection guaranteed by the slice.
Now the frozen microwave style may work in a pinch,
Delivery or the hot and ready special can satisfy
My personal hunger glitch, for that tasty pizza pie,
As long as can get it, I’m satisfied.
Oh grant me one pleasures sinful command to break
Dearest lord above, to indulge myself, and stuff
Myself with pizza, pizza until I burst, for gluttony is
One distractions fault I have dear father, when it
Comes to this circle food, as it spins on the nightly
Commensals boob tube.
Is it not against the law to hide messages within
Certain text, because I swear these advertisers
Know our fragile human weaknesses, late at night
For this delectable substance, called what
Pizza, if I haven’t mentioned it enough,
Yummy, yum, yum old chum.
It’s the party hardy mid-night special, on all
Channels of the United States of America,
There is no doubt of this, rock my world
In flavorful old time favorite, dude I’m
With you all the way, especially on a
Friday night.
This is my declaration of independence
Declared in Italian sauces redden stainy ink,
Give me Pizza or give me death, just kidding
Folks, by the way do you want that last
Pizza slice, I’m not quite full yet, lol.

Premium Member The Dark Side of a Coin

I roll along a dark ledge
Teetering between yesterday and oblivion
Contemplating one final sin
My ultimate act of inner hate
Do I have a choice or is it fate?
A half second away from nowhere
Feeling cool air blowing through my hair
Wishing it could blow away my despair
Lungs sucking in blackened air
Wondering if I ever mattered
Imagining blood splattered
on dappled concrete
As bones and surface meet

I flip gleefully
Imagining my relief
Heart pounding in chest
Beneath the letter held close to my breast
Within it all my sins confessed
Carefully laid out goodbyes
Written in rhymes
Thanking loved ones for the good times
Apologizing
Agonizing
Trying to explain
The coagulation in my brain
Thoughts that overrun me like a morbid freight train
Sunshine that never penetrates my rain

One pennied foot in front of the other
I roll out on the air
Wondering if anyone will care
My mind hyper aware
A feeling that someone is there
In that instant I change my mind
Rotate and look behind
There the Devil stands
I see his hateful smile
He's been whispering all the while
In his hand he holds a file
Labeled "Souls I've Taken!"
I'm both stirred and shaken
I feel my mind breaking
as I'm awaken
Mom says "get out of bed"
My eyes wide open
Thankfully not dead
Remembering what the Devil's file said
Sun shining brightly
Through my window and pain
I'm alive and sane
Not a concrete stain
I thank God I'm here
Feeling thankful
Once again!

Teardrop

Every teardrop have a weight to it
Sad or joy...they roll out
ever so soundless but ever so heavy
to my heart they are
They don't come free fall on their own
With reasons they escape their safety
Sad or joy...they free fall and down
they go to nothingness...forever gone
Only to leaving streaks of wetness
to remind their ever so temporary
existence in hoping for you to notice
they were ever so meaningful teardrops
So please don't go playing with my heart
for every teardrop that streak down
heavily hurt more than you know

Premium Member Ocean Calm

As I gaze upon the ocean
Blue reflects on the water and in the sky
The horizon only distinguishable by it's hue
Standing upon a bluff on a cliff above the rough
I gaze upon the ocean with all it's power
Pushing waves hour after hour
The rock face gets battered and pounded
In a un-relentless, timeless beat
The water produces an awesome sound
Almost like a methodical beat
The surf rolls in, and rolls back out again
Foam forms around the surrounding stones
Seaweed floats , swaying with the waves
Along the beach are deposits of shells and driftwood
Above the water line sand dunes form
Resembling a landscape like the moon
Moving with the ever blowing winds
As the tides roll out
Little holes form along the beach
Making a haven for the birds to eat
A feeding frenzy does erupt
Cleaning out the sandy floor
Before the waves arrive once more
I stand in breathless quite
Taking in the ocean's mystery depth.

Dig Deep

From the deep dark corners of my brain I strain to bring to the surface
the answers I've locked deep, so deep within...Like the matter inside lava in a volcano..my brain, OH !..It hurts, it hurts to dig deep.
I can't seem to reach deep enough for this stuff called wisdom to answer these tough questions I've faced, interlaced in the place where my brain is in this head that sits upon my shoulders.
There it sits like it serves the sole purpose of housing this delicate machine they call brain. Mine is filled with wisdom, but like a deserted kingdom that seems so desolate until it's needed. Then it comes to life like the city lights on a friday night. Flashing, flickering...what does it all mean, my eyes are burning the cogs are turning in this machine, questions are firing from the canons of life, the sounds are threatening my very wellbeing ! These questions need to be answered, to leave ignored is just not an option...they need to be sorted, sorted in order, there's too many questions awaiting an answer.. So I dig deep to search for that wisdom, don't let me down right now I need you, don't let me drown or I have to ask what is your purpose..Why do you sit there laying dormant while I am in torment !
I can't take anymore questions so I dig deep to awaken that wisdom, I need you right now to take care of these questions, that line up for answering - line up for battle. Ready to fight, they don't like wisdom- Wisdoms too dominant, like a warrior ready for war...A war in my brain, the hurt the strain.. I pay the price heavily for each one of these battles, when questions are resilient and don't want to be answered, combined with wisdom that won't take no for an answer. The battle is fierce, questions are running for cover, hiding in every corner and crevice- an annoying menace, that needs to be dealt with and brought tumbling down.. Wisdoms too staunch and won't back down.
The battle is bloody and takes a heavy toll, the rebellious questions heads begin to roll..out ooze the answers they've been guarding so tightly , not giving up lightly..but there they lay exposed and ready to be absorbed into the recesses of my brain...Wisdom wins out again !

The clanking sound of spurs, the sun’s glare
off the shiny doppelganger derringers.
Her hat tipped onto her sweating brow.

“Contests! We don’t need no stinking contests!”

Her cowhide boots kick up the prairie dust.
She’s not your quintessential grandmother.

Her torrential windpipe words ready for a fight.

“I will be number one! Like it or not!”

She spits tobacco into the air, daring a challenge,
and it drops at the feet of the biggest contest.

“Chew on that one...for a while!”

A patch over one green eye, the jealous one. She wears it
as a badge of honor. No one messes with Lady Cogburn.

Like showing off pictures of her family, she lets a scroll roll loose.
Her adjectives and verbs, nouns and sounds.

“I dare anyone to steal my verse! Who's brave enough
to roll out one of their own!”

She spits and stares them down, as one courageous chick
steps forward and just as quick she lays her low.

“Contests! We don’t need no stinking contests! Now the rest of you scram!”

Dodge City, the ghost town, has one occupant. She lights her Virginia Slims, lets her poetic smoke circle the air — like vultures.

Little Green Laughter

~~~
Sunlight sweeps above the dale, while shades of Heather lift their veil
Then gentle mist of morning swirls, enhancing dawn with nature's pearls
~
Songbird's flight encircles glen, to spot late crawler's search for den
Yet...
Not all that dwells in understory, hides this day... this day's their glory
~
The songbirds flee... the piper grins
"Far Darrig O'Malice yer at it again"
The silence broke
the wildwoods rustle
from near and far, the wee ones hustle
~
The songs roll out
the barrels too
the leprechauns abandon shoe
They all break out one piece of gold, to waste before their play grows cold
~
They barter sheep while lifting hogs
They saddle ... ride ... the farmer's dogs
And all the while they laugh and shout, they never spill their mugs of stout
~
The Cluricauns with stouter trumpet, descend the town... subdue the strumpet
Spend their purse to chase romance
the quean much slicker, steals their pants
~
Within the glen with dusk's approach, the smoke gets thick as suppers roast
The music swirls, the echoes sail, the dancers chant an Irish tale
~
An those with naked butts are taught... they stop, it gives the bugs a shot
Far Darrigs crawl beneath the kegs, they pop the corks and fill their legs
~
St. Patrick's blessed another year
The sound of snoring
now all you hear
Innocent Seduction
I could tell by that look in your Eye's! for tonight I plan a surprise!!. Innocent
Moment has arise, if only just for tonight!. As we share a drink, "a slow dance
would be nice".
    Even better, let me rub your body down with small cube's of "Iced". Beautiful
as you are, lying across my bed, half naked and smelling real lustfully-sweet, the
touching of our lip's brings about pre-ecstacy, we can both since intamacy, "the best
is yes to be". Lucky seven as I roll out my dice. O"Yes, "Innocent Moment of Seduc-
tion", tonight is part of the plan. So relax my love, you're the main ingredient, your
eye's say, "You do Understand".
“Beyond her limits, searching out new sand-
The ocean breathes with rise and fall of waves,
and with a passion, hunts the peaceful shore
to endlessly roll out her swell that craves
to crash the rocks, withdraw, and thrash once more.
Though calmer wind and current often paves
her tranquil scenes that turn around the score;
akin to peaceful flows of placid streams-
her ripples glow on mirrored moonlit beams.
Premium Member Spring Forward
In the quiet dawn of March,
When winter relaxes its cold grip,
The daylight stretches its arms,
While serving a dynamic delight.
The sun, shining vibrantly,
decorates the sky with hues of hope,
Clocks leap forward eagerly,
And daffodils happily endorse.
Daisies roll out wispy vows,
Their petals, intricate art pieces,
Cherry blossoms’ fancy bows,
Dance intensely with the spring breezes.
Birdsongs jingle the mornings,
A symphony of joy and rebirth,
Old wisdom is whispering,
To initiate and leap forward.
Spontaneously taking me to a land of opportunity.
A wonderous realm of possibilities awaits me.
Immersing me in showers of splendor and ecstasy.
 I foresee a future so bright its illumination blinds me.
Spectacles of magnificence waft by my eye to my heart.
Let this awe-inspiring significance prepare to start.
No more exuberating sensation could be bought.
Where command performances are daily sought.
An exhilarating ride high on the crest of a mighty wave.
So very exquisite I shall create my very own enclave.
Joining the Elizabethan Trust Theatre Performing Arts.
At such a young age was my dream auditioning my parts.
Acting was all I lived for, being accepted was even more.
Life was wonderful, a good job and study I would adore.
I guess it was perseverance, luck and talent, I had some.
So get ready to roll out the red carpet, here I come.
The Curry Man From Trinidad
I leave my home in Trinidad
 And I come to live in America
 And now I working at Kmart
 Whole day at a cash register
 But I do have a lot of problems
 Every time I get hungry to eat
 all it has is a bunch of junk food
 Or bread with some artificial meat
 So I decide to take all my money
 And invested it in a food van
 Is about time I introduce to America
 The tasty cooking of we Trinidadian
 And I though for the first few days
 That business will be real slow
 Boy, but I was so wrong
 now I see people line up for so
 So I open up with trini breakfast
 Smoke herring with tomato and roti
 Baggi, Pumpkin, baigan and aloo
 Fried bodi ,doubles and fever grass tea
 It’s the first time they tasting Doubles
 The chutney burning some of them nose
 One guy look like he from Russia
 Drop some curry channa on his cloths
 I get all the recipes from my brother
“naz cuisine” The best food in Trinidad’
Some people start complimenting
 Saying, it’s the best they ever had
 A white man faced turns red
 Eating the double with plenty pepper
 But he says how he likes it
 It has a very nice flavor
 And For lunch I roll out the big guns
 All different kind of talkari
 Goat, duck chicken and fish
 Bake and shark, bush up shut and dhalpurrie
 Two Puerto Rican girls
 One looks like Mariah Carey
 They order dhal, rice, and goat meat
 Saying how they love the curry
 And every body line up
 They love the curry real bad
 And every body talking about the curry
 the curry man from Trinidad
 From my stove comes hot roti
 Tomato choka and fry plantain
 Since morning people line up
 Waiting for the Trinidad cooking
 And now is evening everything sells out
 I didn’t even keep one roti for me
 And now I feel real hungry
 So I guess I will buy a bucket of KFC
New Dawn
As I roll out of bed tomorrow
I’m gonna say goodbye sorrow
Fare thee well Mr. Cynicism
See you later Mr. Pessimism
Adios to Mr. Skepticism
Exit negativity, enter positivity
No procrastination and inactivity
An idle mind is the devils workshop
That’s why I’ll exert myself nonstop
No more misery and depression
As exuberance replaces dejection
Success is around the corner
It’s coming now and not later
Victory is surely heading my way
No matter what people may say
I quit banking my future on luck
Time has come to break the duck
A new dawn has shown its face
My home will be a better place
I’m a potential winner, a true born victor
Within me lies a superstar, a megastar
No I’m not building castles in the air,
I’m not dreaming, I’m not hallucinating
I have to earn my place in history
Put a good ending to my unfinished story
My story is about confidence, not arrogance
I advocate humility, not vanity
Trials and tribulation come and go
Sticky situations are not unique to you
But we all know as well as you do
You need hard work and determination
For the youth, education is the only solution
You’ve got to make the decision
To extract yourself from destitution
Leave nothing at all to chance
For fortune favours the brave
No sweet without sweat, no pain, no gain
Each time you fall recollect and try again
A dream doesn’t become reality through magic
Lazy genius is not only sad but also tragic
Stay focused, keep your eyes on the prize
There is no substitute for hard work
There are no secrets to success
Only in the dictionary does success precede work
We are all gifted, skilled and talented
Unshackle that innate ability
Let loose that latent capability
I’m gonna prepare, plan and plot
Execute and give it my best shot
Until the day that I hit the jackpot
