Best Residual Poems
Did you ever have one of those magical nights
When everything clicks into place?
When the stars are aligned and your mood is defined
By a flood of support to embrace?
Surrounded by loved ones and showered with warmth,
The smiles seem to sprout with no end.
You’re super aware that you cannot compare
What you feel, since it seems to transcend.
You want it to last but you know that it can’t,
So you try to just cling to a trace
Of those glorious vibes that a poet describes
As a rendezvous time can’t erase.
But you know things can’t stay at that memorable peak
For you must reconnect with the ground.
Still, you cannot deny that from feeling so high,
There’s residual joy to be found.
oak tree sheds rich crown
squirrels glean the meaty spoils
residual shells
wafting through the rafters
or through the cracked door window
it is sent ashamedly
yet at the show last night
they passed it freely
like conversation
and better than
a simple
handshake
the music was mellow
the lavatories scarce and
the beers and hot dogs
plenty
it helps to flow
relax and perhaps
make lovely lapses of
thought
judgment
time and bide
such trivial endeavors
i remember the girl with the
tattoo of the orange sun
and blue waves
on the tramp stamp
who was the one who
introduced me to ways of
Sappho
(and her lez roomie)
who let me know how
sweet
the buddha tasted when
from a fingertip staring
at the fishtank
and wondering if the tat
would heal after the hot tub
at Catalina Island
when the blond
used all the hot water
taking a sexy shower
with her
2 hour
boyfriend
Still
we strive past that to almost
midnight on a year that
reminds me of the rest
just with less
punctuation remains in the inane
and when I am alone with you
I feel like I want to die all over again
Residual Affects
There are effects that became residual;
For some could never be conventional,
And from day to day do vary and vary,
As cows diligently give milk in a dairy;
Hopefully environment is conditional.
Condition of environment is cause
of many things that are created.
James Horn
Lamp shade shrouds my blanched soul
Dimming, residual light o'er weary heart doth roll
Flickering memories cloud my intellectual pole
Obscure shadows flutter through subconscious pinhole
Dusk, fading hope through my restive spirit doth stroll
Encroaching darkness shutters my resolve; my psyche doth patrol
Murky thoughts leaf through my sensory scroll
Shimmering reflections flounder, then my inner being roil
Foreboding sentiments my sanity will parole
Oscillating dreams eclipse all feelings of control
Loosely anchored in sinking ship; fueled by despondency's blackest coal
Mournful echoes sound in waves, marooning courage on lifeless
shoal
Last glimmer of twilight, now must pay the woeful toll
Shattered and shipwrecked brokered to misery's dole
Recycled moon beams
Trundled showers of blessings
Residual streams
Who did plod through the fresh laid sod
What plunderous rogue could be so treacherous
When did the fresh, bright mane garner brackish stain
Where did the stealthy herbivore dump digested core
Why did that silly hare his gastronomical fare share
Dreams buried deeply
Recycled sunken treasure
Brackish hope salvaged
Residual, Conventional and Hysterical
This should be a real change. Is anyone
else out there game besides me? Here
goes again.
The effects could start out conventional;
What they ended being were residual;
What I would find most appalling?
Is for the temptation I was falling;
Hemorrhoids said to not be hysterical.

Has anyone else accepted the
challenge yet?
I
Reduced to nothing
But not absolute Zero
I have residual energy
And nothing is not nothing
It has something, always
And we can get something out of nothing

The quantum world tells us truths
About nothing: if I am as a quantum vacuum
I have residual Jiggles
So let your jiggles jangle
The Universe decreed it
Nothing can get you down to zero
Out of nothing, juggle & jiggle something
After all, that is the 'nutrino' feeding sunshine
Lingering glance more than circumstance,
Endearing gesture not mere chance.
Corresponding smile engenders romance;
Suggestive movements invite dalliance.
An enticing scent that permeates,
An enchanting voice that resonates,
An alluring personality that levitates,
A tender feeling that stimulates.
Spring's christening morn, they sow each, leased field
You squawk at their noisy machines, fabricated skill
In due time, green shoots sprout; twined destinies distilled
Awaiting Harvest moon's celestial seal
You ready your nettled till; contraband to fill
Before hoary frost can shower its blighting chill
Mechanized hands garnish nature's wage; stitched pockets to gild
Golden nuggets ferried to recycling mill
But to their deep reservoirs will not all of nature's bounty rill
Your scouring eyes will every, eroded funnel swill
From earth's spent crust, disbursed kernels drill
Sharpened beak pecking out residual, wasteful spill
Swirling wisps mount the horizon
Cresting over their funnel spouts
Steaming ground-swells incubate on earth's oven
Thermal currents surge upward through the convector
Cooling reams ballast the sides descending the shaft
Energizing columns fueling the expanding balloon
Cooling and condensing into droplets of dew sublime
Pairing together in cacophonous chorus ascending briny ladder
Billowy bowls fill with sappy streams of bliss
Bulging at seams, burst, spewing torrents of angry tears
Gushing waterfalls cascade in a tumult through the jaded prism
Schizophrenic remnants clash; their titan charges pulsing fire
Cymbals clang as the lightening attack shocks the airy ramparts
Earth's thirsty crust satiated with the inundating flow
Boisterous tides rill disbursing indiscriminately
My windows are my exclusive groves
My absolutely private dreams
Your lovely dreamy beauty brooks
Your small and soft but brilliant suns
Let me stay my eyes shut
Inside the poems you ardently wrote
But I am not going to ever quote
It was frenzy between what and what
Ah how winy are the memory flowers
Holding on to the residual hours

a potent indication
of residual energy
slowly taking possession
of my sanity
I feel it manipulate
each experience
toying with my fate
confirming its existence
I can only surmise
it's a malicious shadow
which somehow escaped demise
when yesterday had to go
some spiritual attachment
of which I'm unaware
I must force it to repent
so I can spiritually repair
