Best Refined Poems
Unstable
Uneven ground
When you sit on a fault
For a heartbreak makes your faith
falter.
Restore
A broken trail
Requires sunshine and rain
Water cleansing the heart that needs
Warm rays.
Resource
From high above
Be the only recourse
To recover, the heavens charged
With force.
The Force
That never fails
May be at times at bay
By somber fearful clouds
A phase.
To build
Your inner strength
Which raises faith again
That the sunrise brings a new day
That grants.
New hope
Comes to restore
Your dream sleeping no more
The tarnished gold of your soul, refined
Bright ore.

So deep a love to feel
Your muse Cupid would wonder
When the golden chance you couldn’t steal
Preferring instead to explore gambits like a gander
Pushing a prevarication scheme without a clear
Strategy as to where you felt your breakthrough
Would emerge from, dear
Although to your credit you remained true
Supposing luck once again to your side
Would come swinging the pendulum
In your favour as aside you pushed your pride
To beat the drum
Whose rhythm like a wedding bell
Stimulated heartbeats into faster pulses
Denoting chances to lift the veil
On your romance for impulses
To hasten the tempo of the tango
For both your heart and hers to dance
To disentangle
Knots and spots of bother to advance
The agenda to win the love
For which all along you long
To hold, hold, hold on wings of the white dove
That your resolve makes strong
As seconds tick
You break the ice
Knees growing weak
Lips trembling once, twice, thrice
You squeeze Betty into your arms
Bodies entwined
No more romance doldrums
Love in the end redefined and refined.

It’s not always a silver lining sought
when the spirit of self is broken…
Much better for self
is that gold refined touch
sent forth from the forges of heaven…
Ever humbled and grateful
for the purity of His Love

REFINED LOVE
My mother cossets me in her arms,
I feel her heartbeat, call rehearsed -
The heartache and absent charms,
The drama of my spouse conversed.
Beloved, by my bed, asleep in chair -
Before, after, and in between,
I cling to you for wont of care.
On your shining armor I lean.
My daughter’s visit...we are close.
The pain radiates from my chest.
Comfort of eyes and speech compose.
But it’s in my prince’s arms of rest,
Where i bury all my sorrows and fears.
Fearsome in his loyalty and compassion,
United by our wedlock, in oneness, he hears.
All drama clears, replaced by undying passion.
We all have heard, how opposites attract.
Our bent cookie cutter pieces, form one heart.
Imperfect, our love sweet, in conterminous fact.
Hellfire entanglements, try and fail, to keep us apart.
Love sparked in our hearts at first light.
We rekindle the spark, stoked by absence
Of malice, forgiveness, a lingering fight
To stay in touch - to titillate unguarded sense.
In the marriage bed all things reset.
We climb into each other’s suits.
Lingering doubts and spats, we forget.
The aromatics of our love spring new shoots.

Relation Refined
In soul’s arcane altar my ego immolation
Flamboyant redesign of our bittersweet relation
Expressing sans intercessor , our quiescent emotion
Editing our ambivalent attitude clearing confusion
Basing trust as the quintessence our new solution
Spray of luscious true love beyond tactile horizon!

I look in the mirror
And imagine what I could be.
I picture a crown without tears.
I see silver veins coursing through me.
Refined gold is what I bleed.
My tears are titanium.
I eat copper like wheat.
Yumm radium.
Iron and Steel are sweet.
I like my Cobolt well done.
Aluminum is always a treat.
But the nickle and magnesium,
are as tender as concrete.

She was so sweet, like refined sugar
He was so crude, like oil from a well
And sometimes even a real booger
But deep down she could always tell
That someday he would really be swell
And that true love they would surely find
Because he would end up doing really well
And that marriage license would be signed
With the ringing of that old wedding bell
Down the road of life they would both propel

Rose colored glasses long ago shattered...
No time for phantom kisses...
Nor faux acts of love...
The keeper of this heart—
will captivate me unpretentiously...
Taking me as I am...
Sweeping me off my feet
sending my soul on a mission of surprise
mingled with admiration...
Whisk me away on his magic carpet—
to a special place with the prospect of sharing
a spirituality that’ll rival mythical God’s...
Build a trust that no one can bring to naught...
Be my hero—my gift with no expected reciprocity...
Hold me in his arms with insane intensity;
as if there is no tomorrow...
Make me feel loves heat
with no intention of starting a fire...
Awe me with his contemplation of my desires
without my asking...
Penetrate my heart with a percussion
that strikes a cord of sweet melodies...
Igniting a conscious love journey
that will renew time and time again
as we vehemently love each other veraciously...

My uncle,... so like Dad!
But a stout, big bellied version with different gait.
Joy he had!
But unlike Dad
Who was a town guy and refined,
No fad!
Busy,
Tending the farm.
Free!!
My uncle,... so like Dad
Who was a town guy and refined!!
Free!!!

A refined gent who serves lunch in Decatur
Is the posh bistro’s most genteel waiter
He serves fine escargot
and tres-bon merlot
Then mosies home to his deep-fried potater

I hate wearing flamin’ suits and I hate wearing rotten ties,
but if eating in a ‘glitzy’ restaurant, then I have to realize,
I can’t go wearing shorts and singlets or my best pair of thongs,
and can’t go getting rotten drunk or sing Kevin Wilson songs.
I have to act all ‘haughty-taughty’ when I’m ordering me tea.
Oh yeah, in there they call it dinner but it ain’t lunch to me,
and I have to read a francais menu written in some fancy scroll,
where nothing looks like ‘dimmies’ or a scrumptious chicko roll.
And this ‘geezer’ asks me ‘bout a drink. And I sez “Yeah a beer”.
“Oh sorry sir” he answers back - “We don’t serve beer in here.
This restaurant has too much class for those without refine.
Now I ask you sir and madam would you like a glass of wine?”
The missus tightly grabbed me hand and glared into me face.
She knew my next reaction would; see us kicked out of the place.
So she answered with refinement “No thank you sir”, but it’s a trap!
This mongrel opened up a ‘hanky’ and started fiddling in me lap.
“Hello” I thought ‘what’s going on? They won’t serve a bloke a beer,
but they’ll send some ‘groper’ out and let him go acting *****’.
Me hairy paw was near the floor and his target jaw did jut;
I was just about to let him have it with a king size upper cut.
Then something happened at the table that was right next to ours.
This bloke who had been watching us sort of shrinks and cowers.
Then he leant hard against his chair, sliding from it on his back.
“Struth” I said to the missus - “That bloke’s just had a heart attack”.
And the woman he was with just carried on like nothing’s wrong.
She just didn’t seem to notice that the bloke she’s with had gone.
I whispered to the ‘missus’. “She must be blind if she don’t know”.
So I said we ought to help her so I smiled and said “Hello”.
Then I started making conversation just to see if she’d unwind,
but she was fidgety and anxious, and I could see she wasn’t blind.
“Do you realize” I said, “Your husband slid down on the floor?”
“Actually” she whispered - “My husband just walked through the door”.

So often are the trials of our faith fired in the furnaces, refined
That hammer blows awaken snoring mind
Is this my grace? For purity? To fall so oft' upon my knees
In prayers of helpless beggar's pleas
What shall become of this, my living soul
That rises up then sinks into a hole
Where fears of death, of fires, of holy wrath
Yet hopes to find that shining golden path
For through the press and flicker licking flames
My soul is taught of God in all His Names

Everyone said how gentle the mayor's daughter was,
Desiere' was a romantical woman, kind and refined.
I tried to get to know her, but there was a teensy bit of fuzz.
On her fancy pink dress, and she began to grouse and whine.
Who brought it in? She demanded, smoothing out her satin.
Someone pointed to me and said, “Probably that Latin.”
I thought it was rude, but not as rude as she.
For at that second she began throwing carnations at me.

Glowing, golden orb is lost,
plunged into a molten fire.
reduced to streaks of red and dross,
victim of the night’s swift ire:
refined, but not without a cost.

So many boys just cannot stand carrots
Orange veggie sticks for them have no merit
But as their eyesight declines
Their taste buds get more refined
Orange eye candy's sweet ~ They can stare at it
