Best Prayer And Praise Poems
I’m thankful, Lord, for all that’s good -
My freedom, health and womanhood.
So much I have of gratitude
For warmth and shelter and good food.
Especially I’m grateful for
My family and friends and more. . .
I love thy mountains, plains and seas,
Thy many flowers, plants and trees.
May people understand the worth
Of all you’ve given us on earth.
Please bless the loved ones in my life,
Especially those now facing strife.
I pray that I will not be blind
To those in need; I must be kind.
I pray whatever comes to me,
That I’ll accept it gracefully.
Forgive my faults and silly ways.
To thee, oh Lord, I give all praise.
Praise I sing again and again
to Thee, my dear, sweet dear Lord. Amen.

For Songs of Praise Contest of Robert James Liguori
He holds my hand
When I don’t have a friend
He guides my plans
When I don’t understand
He warms my thoughts
When I feel the chill of darkness
He shines His light
Through the shadows that destroy
He gentles my passions
Whispers truth into my falsehoods
He breaks through my pain
Calming all my fear and anxiety
He colors my thoughts
In hues of prayer and praise
He measures my hope
With His depth of sweet grace
He inspires my dreams
When I wish so eagerly for a desire
He welcomes my thanksgiving
When I know that He needs my heart
He stirs my feelings of faith
Even though I have so many doubts
He listens to my petitions
Despite the fact I’m so weak and frail
He promises to love me
Even though I can be so unlovable
He reaches out to my spirit
When I neglect the worship He needs from me
He arouses my creativeness
With joy, enthusiasm and elation
He erases my worries and dread
Painting my faith with strength that abounds
He is the answer to my problems
Calming, soothing, enlightening
He is the truth that binds my heart
With kindness, mercy and blessings
He is the feeling that glows inside me
Reminding me that my attempts are worthwhile
He is the reminder that my life
Is in His hands, where I’m sure of His care for me
He is the love that draws me toward Him
Filling my heart with tenderness that melts grief
He is the affection that frees me from despair
Awakening my spirit to the song of grace
He is the devotion that breathes joy through me
Kindling fires of compassion and wonder
He is the empathy that quiets my worst fears
Without His love, I wouldn’t be the woman I am!
Without Him… I wouldn’t know the light of hope
Without Him… I wouldn’t know the joy of peace
Without Him… I wouldn’t know the way to belief
Without Him… I wouldn’t sing a song of grace
Without Him… I wouldn’t dance with inspiration
Without Him… I wouldn’t laugh with pure elation
Without Him… I wouldn’t be free of sin and wrong
Without Him… I wouldn’t know God is my Father!
Happy Father’s Day to the One who created me
There’s beauty in His word though we don't see His shield.
Are we caught wand'ring round while others focus in?
Beauty is encountered each time His arm's revealed.
Think you need a coat of mail on your mission field?
Do you require a gauntlet, helmet past your chin?
There’s beauty in His word though we don't see His shield.
Refuse the body armor, with sure fervor wield
the treasured sword of prayer and praise, its mighty twin.
Beauty is encountered each time His arm's revealed.
Though we pray constantly for sickness to be healed,
know there’s joy in suff’ring and find Christ’s pow’r therein.
There’s beauty in His word though we don't see His shield.
When doubt comes upon your mind, do not stop or yield,
leave that villain in the dust, Christ forgave your sin.
Beauty is encountered each time His arm's revealed.
Do not thwart your Lord, by His Spirit you are sealed.
Give Him wreaths of glory, amid the thick and thin.
There’s beauty in His word though we don't see His shield;
Beauty is encountered each time His arm's revealed.

Without faith is anything true?
Does the heart truly feel?
Does the mind know what is real?
Does the soul express its joy…
Through laughter and enthusiasm?
Without faith is there any grace?
Does the spirt trust hope?
Do feelings abide in the promise?
Does anyone even have a dream…
Fancying the courage to believe?
Without faith is there any trust?
Does the heart only imagine love?
Does the mind discover wonders?
Does the soul consider God…
The One who inspires us to believe?
Faith is more than a feeling
It is alive, and it is just like breathing
Without faith, there can be no reasoning
The heart, mind and soul must agree…
Faith is the answer, the bond between…
His gift of grace and mercy
The light of prayer and praise
The beauty of giving every need…
To the One who loves so much more…
Than our hearts and souls can fathom.
Faith gives us the chance to partake
In the One who brought us salvation
Released us from prisons of our own making
Destroyed the reign of satan
And taught us about love that is eternal
With faith… we have a path to true joy
Hope that moves mountains…
Grace that surrounds us…
With His love and His promises….
His everlasting spirit and peace
He is the One I believe in
With faith that He stirred inside
Where His Holy Spirit now abides!

It was in church
That I first discovered the meaning
Beneath hope and faith, love and grace
It was in church
That I was first introduced
To believing in the light who never fades
It was in church
That I first knew conviction that prepares
The heart to repent and be saved by the Redeemer
It was in church
That I was first a part of the body of Christ,
Where there is prayer and praise and promise
Peace that never leaves the spirit without a chance
To know the meaning of His abiding Presence
It was in church
That I first knew that God would never forsake me
Because of His everlasting life, I’d be with Him forever
It was in church
That I found the way to hear from heaven
And, it was in church that I found the reason
For a joy that sincerely believes Him
It was in church
That I first realized I was needy
And it was in church that I learned the best
Gift is the gift of spiritual freedom
From doubt, darkness, despair – all the things
That the devil prepares to test God’s children…
Thank God He protects and provides
All the hope we will ever need, all the faith to believe
The love that assures hearts He is everything and more…
He is the promise of a heavenly home, the hope
That forever will bring with it His everlasting love
It was in church…
Where I learned and discovered
The meaning of a love that is everlasting
The hope of a prayer, the assurance that He’s there…
In the pew, at the alter – everywhere – It is HIS HOUSE!
It is in church that He prepares us –
To face a world that wants to silence us
It is in church that He reminds us –
We are His children, His light for the world
It is in church that He fights for us –
The ones He loves with the love of the SON,
Who shines, reflecting the miracle of peace that prevents us…
From listening to the world or the darkness, the sin that seeks
To destroy our faith, darken our light, dim our smiles…
It is in church that I found the simple hymn… Amazing GRACE
I once was lost… but NOW – I have HIM… Amazing GRACE
Forever, I will praise – because I’m eternally HIS!
Children love
Not only with words
Or with deeds
But with hearts
And souls
And beliefs
They love beyond words
Beyond thoughts or ideas
More than we can reveal
With mere poetry or prose
With a heart of pure gold
And a soul inspired by faith
Believing in God’s promises
Honoring souls who honor Him
And believing in dreams that have
Been hesitant and hushed
But poured music across souls
In a dance of love and joy
A caress from the hope that anoints
The soul to be stirred by passion
Grace and an everlasting praise
Children pray
Not only with words
Or with deeds
But with hearts
And souls
And beliefs
Children leave feelings
Breathless rays of pure light
Pouring over the thoughts
Whispering insight, inspiration
Intimacy and incredible truth
Raining down like dewdrops
On the morning prayers
Children love
Not only with words
Or with deeds
But with hearts
And souls
And beliefs
Children light up with laughter
Heal with a faith that lasts
Plant wonders as seeds from joy
Water them with hope and wonder
Nourish them with faith and grace
And, when they share their beautiful
Blooms, pluck them so they can share
The experience of a love so rare
Children love
Not only with words
Or with deeds
But with hearts
And souls
And beliefs
God blesses them – these children
Who live on a prayer and praise
With their hearts, souls and minds
In ways that are so hard to design
But can only be felt with the dawn
On the light of an enchanting thought
Embracing the darkness and lifting
The gray so that morning drifts
Into focus, enchanting, enlightening
Enticing the heart to hold hope
And never give up on their dreams
Their ideas, their music that thrills
Their dance through a colorful earth
Who fills their hearts with blessings
And reminds them to always praise Him
The One who created everything so special
With a love that shows them how to live
A love that reminds them to give
A love that is the Father’s sweetest gift!
Children love
Not only with words
Or with deeds
But with hearts
And souls
And beliefs
Children know what is real!
It was grim and gloomy
Devoid of hope for freedom
They were bound and thrown
Into man’s maximum security
After severe beating and humiliation
In utter hopelessness
But God was still saying something
And so they did not give in to fear
But chose path of prayer and praise
And God who relishes the praises of His children
Swung into action with an earthquake
Rocking the maximum security prison
To its foundation and unto freedom
For Paul and Silas
Whatever is your situation today
Do not despair or give up
For even when He is silent
God is still saying something
Take the route of prayer and praise
They never fail to attract His attention
Nor His saving Grace
I give Him my heart, my soul and my thoughts
All of my worries, doubts and fears
I give Him all even though I’m tied up in knots
Longing for a second chance to begin
I give Him my light, my laughter, my love
All of my joy and all of my warmth
I give Him the kindness brought from above
To give to others – assurance of hope
I give Him my questions, my yearnings and tears
All of the reasons I can’t find my way
I give Him my dreams, my fantasies and cares
Speaking to Him of feelings I can’t let go of
I give Him my nature, my thoughts and belief
All the thoughts that seem to haunt me
I give Him my troubles, my sorrows and grief
The dread that reveals my deepest phobia
I give Him my mornings, my noon and my night
All of my feelings that inspire me to try
I give Him my moments filled with so much insight
Welcoming me to give generously
I give Him my whispers of imagination and truth
All the happiness that protects my spirit
I give Him my breath of harmony from my youth
The dance of wonder that mends my aches
I give Him my reflections of all the mercy and grace
All the supplications that have been answered
I give Him my life so that my sins he can erase
Giving me a new enthusiasm for prayer and praise

God is one of perfect poetic skill supreme
sending forth an ability to capture hearts
throughout scripture, this evidence is so clear
bringing so much pleasure from many parts
Throughout scripture God brings strength
in many situations the weak become strong
when we look upwards in simple faith
trusting in the saviour where we belong
David was the musician with the harp
but so often God's people played His tune
we would sing in unison for our victory
strong in prayer and praise all before noon
God is the saviour of my soul
He alone brought me my salvation
His son paid to atone all my sin
gifting to me my blessed justification
All of this shows who is my God
my praise must always upwards rise
to my father, I indeed shall exalt Him
for He's given freely my eternal prize
('The Lord is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father's God, and I will exalt him.')
Exodus 15: 2 (ESV)
When I failed Him – I couldn’t tell Him
How dark the dread was, how painful the doubt,
How the color black fell over my feelings
And even in the light I couldn’t see the gentleness
Through the clouds, the discouragement
When I lost my hope and I just couldn’t cope
I couldn’t understand that He was still there with me,
Reassuring my heart, even in the dark – comforting
Calming, through the worry and anxiety, past
The feelings that haunted and taunted me, the fury
That seemed to echo through my mind and thoughts,
Erasing joy and filling me up with mistrust to destroy
Every promise, every dream, every feeling of grace
Beauty became a memory, fleeting and bleeding
Through the colors, hues of compassion,
Everlasting peace and surrender to the intimacy
Tenderness that trembled with faith, with
Warmth that felt like home to me, silencing my
Tears, easing my fears – stirring the music,
The mystery, the belief that stills every uneasiness
When I didn’t know how to believe and even
The elation was so far from the praise, the worship
That honored Him with my lips – yet never
Bled through the despair, the grief, the dishonesty
A heart without joy – a heart without hope
Because I had a heart that had failed to find love
In a world He came to save, a world that is lost
Amid skepticism and mistrust, among the questions
Unspoken by lips who never mouth a prayer
Lips who never remember – He is always there
He is with me – even when I fail to love and adore,
Even when I neglect prayer and praise,
Even when I disappoint Him with my bitterness
Or give Him so many reasons to give up on me –
He is with me – even when I can’t believe He is
He is with me when I don’t feel His presence there
He is with me when I can’t find a way to silence
The doubts, the confusion, the dreadful disillusions
He is with me – through every dark night of the soul,
He makes a way out of the shadows, the murky
World where I go when I feel so lost and alone
He is with me and I know – when I praise Him
With my heart and my soul, He breathes warmth
Into the shimmering from a Son who lights the world
With a fire that becomes my heart’s one desire –
This love that is His glorious gift, His grace – His peace
The blessing of His presence – forever – He is with me!
REASONABLE POETRY
Out of the muddle of insanity and schisms flows a constant stream of words. My thoughts come to life. From prayer and praise to flowers and rain, everything bubbles through me. Poesy keeps my mind ticking the right way.
feelings trapped inside

Chirping, tiny voices
Uplifted toward the skies
Small and fragile
Yet filled with a strength
Only heaven can give
With the gift of grace
As they sing and praise
Chirping, little voices
Singing joyfully, bright
As the hues that make up
Feathered coats, hopes
For the moment
When they leave the nest
Fly fast and free,
On a endless quest
For life’s sweet dream
Chirping, charming
With chirps of happiness
Poured out from beaks
Who are near the moment
Of release, sweet dream
They will rise to the skies
Leaving their mother’s nest
To find lives, settle
For no less than the best
Chirping, singing, crooning
A never ending song
Of prayer and praise
Warbling lyrics of grace
Awakening hearts and souls
To the whispers of delight
Found in those who see
Freedom bring
These beautiful creatures
To the skies, flying…
Flying, flying, flying
Through the heights
Of God’s breathtaking skies
As they take to the skies…
Their lives remind
God always supplies
He is the provider for birds
And those who know Him
Will always be heard
As they fly through this life

Sunlight smiles
Through morning’s song
As birds, robin and wren,
Flutter near the dogwood
Awakening the moments
To a day of grace and wonder
A day for the Lord to shower
Hearts with favor, mercy
All the goodness of His grace
Roses reflect the dewdrops
As the trickle down a petal
Reminding the heart of the joy
Felt when His love embraces
Kissing away every fear, each tear
With a kindness that resembles
Peace and tranquility, the feeling
Brought alive by the love inside
Love inspired by His spirit
Creating His abode, within me
Gentle breezes silence the pain
Praising the Lord with their thanks
For the silent songs, the distant
Hopes who fall like rain pouring out
From the heavens, rays of joy
Feelings filled with a soft knowing
His light shines from the heavens
Coloring souls in spiritual enthusiasm
Igniting passions of prayer and praise
Assuring hearts that His love is forever
An eternal beauty leaving in its path….
