Chirping, tiny voices Uplifted toward the skies Small and fragile Yet filled with a strength Only heaven can give With the gift of grace As they sing and praise Chirping, little voices Singing joyfully, bright As the hues that make up Feathered coats, hopes For the moment When they leave the nest Fly fast and free, On a endless quest For life’s sweet dream Chirping, charming With chirps of happiness Poured out from beaks Who are near the moment Of release, sweet dream They will rise to the skies Leaving their mother’s nest To find lives, settle For no less than the best Chirping, singing, crooning A never ending song Of prayer and praise Warbling lyrics of grace Awakening hearts and souls To the whispers of delight Found in those who see Freedom bring These beautiful creatures To the skies, flying… Flying, flying, flying Through the heights Of God’s breathtaking skies As they take to the skies… Their lives remind God always supplies He is the provider for birds And those who know Him Will always be heard As they fly through this life Flight Two Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Chantelle Anne Cooke June 11, 2022
