At a loss for words
Well not exactly
Words are plentiful
Thoughts a lesser commodity
Dust covered, wall flowers
Resigned to their fate

Thoughtless
Well not exactly
Thoughts think
About what other thoughts
Are thinking

Thoughts are like a masquerade ball
Concealing themselves
In duplicitous deception
Masked mayhem
Dancing alone

Words are like a barn dance
Swirling syllables
Changing partners
To a called cadence

Words and thoughts
Lethargic lovers
Longing for the other
To ask

May I have this dance.

Coffee Bean Scent

Coffee bean scent still fills the air

with each new sunrise in our log cabin

My arms around me embrace the winds of winters gone

Every sky-night the glass -pane glows in silent mist

Lunar limbs stream through bedroom blinds

reflecting shadows on empty sheets

Star clusters shine'bove velvet shores

Sand-wish away from my bare toes

Another day,another month,another year

and other thoughts

I can't freeze time or make a clone

First magnolia blooms on a bare branch

Buzzing bees extract nectar from a moist corolla

Pastel wings flutter on melting icicles

Sunbirds return in a sweet song

But what is a song without the symphony

What is music with no slow dance

His hand-pressed petal still marks the chapter

between stained pages

The dusty shelves recall my mind

recall my heart,recall my soul

For the last time of many a time

these eyes would linger

Before leaves curl, before buds wither

Before moons move on

and I let go.<>

Premium Member Revitalized Love In the Fall of Winter

In the midst of vacant hours, echoes of expressions on opposite ends
are something of the same. Ruminating on questions; questions about
thy and questions about thou intertwined
with the then and the now. Thoughts
prelude to other thoughts of
thoughts emerging to
many thoughts.
Consulting and
considering
the death
and birth
of us; is thy
disinclined
to shed the
events upon the
ground transformed
from a dream out of a
dream to this dream only of us?
A coherent argument it is, that the
memories back on yesterday brought us
here today...But, when thy and thou bodies
meet and descend upon each accreting to the singular; occupancy
quickly overcomes vacancy leading the thoughts of many thoughts effaced.
(Sigh)...Thy and Thou love bolsters all the more today than back on yesterday.

Premium Member I Had Loved You So, Once

Somehow I had loved you so,once…
When we relished vintage cherry wine until
The last pitch of a guitar man drifted along
harbour’s bay…and how our shared wishes
gushed around Trevi fountain, tossing coins,
rummaging new souvenirs that became
endless conversational pieces in our inner loft.
Yes, I held other thoughts about us, keeping
My voice low as angry words snuffed the
Fragrance of candlelight: but in a flash, time
Paused while you smiled to brush my hair amiably.

I loved you well, perhaps …maybe more,
Yet deep in my bones, leaving me alone kept
Rainy nights unbearable where we passed
Like abandoned ships at night… then what
About those evenings that won’t let me down?
This feeling of uncertainty, suspension, pain
Led to catharsis: because for all that was real,
The ghosts of old souvenirs ended love's glory.

One and Only Crush

Do you know every night I dream of you
Visions of your lips upon mine
Have you any idea how much I think of you
So much it has become a pastime
Are you aware of how often I drown
Inside your perfect green eyes
My mind is so crowded with reflections of you
For other thoughts I have not the time
Haven't you noticed how we belong together
Just the notion is too sublime!
Endlessly I want to feel your touch
And to be always on your mind
If we were never to be together
That would be a terrible crime
Don't you know that you mean everything to me
I want to give you my heart for all time
You are the only one in this world I want
To be forever and always mine
Give me a chance at romance
And I promise you'll never ask why

Premium Member Aunt Grace's Peach Cobbler

Around the corner and half a block away, the flavor would grab me, tie me up to some irresistible force, then drag my nose to the source of its home. The aroma that wafted in the air and up my whiffer was sweet and warm - rich with orchards of deliciousness and cascading with the buttery peachy-ness of what was to come. It knocked all other thoughts out of my realm and led me down a path of complete submission - surrendering like the energy of cold water on a hot skillet. With each step bringing me closer, my musing would swirl with the anticipation of that first ultra-luscious, gratifying juicy bite - the one that ever so longingly and lovingly would delightfully roll around on every palate of my watering mouth and lingering tongue only to succumb to gulping down the first chunk.

From the flour and water and salt

Her timeworn hands kneaded magic

A mystical mixture of love and fruit to concoct-

A pinch of this and that, nothing formally systematic.

This masterpiece was an untold legend that "rocked"

The socks off anyone and even rival the "Titanic"!

Her ritual was simple and deep rooted

As uncomplicated as a baby's grin.

"Easy as Pie" she mooted

And laughed while she hummed all the while.

Layering the rich sheets of goodness in a pan

From pie dough to peaches to butter and sugar

There was nothing in this world so simple or better than

My Aunt Grace's Peach Cobbler!

Forever Eternally With You

The crickets
filled the air
one night, with
subtle chirping
beats

The moon
and stars set
up to shine,
as they take
their seats

The wind
has settled down
to sing the
songs it’s tucked
away

They sound
like graceful
symphonies an
orchestra would
play

But if
my mind
were on those
things, my heart
it never knew

For it
simply ignored
those sounds
and thought of
only you

My heart
you see, it
dedicates some
time for you
each day

To think
about your
loveliness, keep
other thoughts
bay

Most times
you are the
reason why I’m
in that happy
mood

That special
place I spoke
about, what
joy you do
include

You fill
me full of
happiness, a
feeling that never
parts

You have
that pure
divinity, to
cure my aching
heart

You are
the one I’ve
longed for
and dreamed
about at night

The one
that’s made
my darkest days
clear and full
of light

You stir
me in a
potent love, a
love so ever
new

And now
I want to
spend forever…
eternally with
you

Premium Member Exit Ramp

The exit ramp looms large just up ahead,
though still an unknown distance ‘round the bend,
a terminus of sorts.
Perhaps a point from which to send
us out of time constraints, into the now,
the means by which remain unknown, just how
exactly, this all ends.
To fret, a waste, ’tis said, so I shall trust instead.

And yet, this ideation blooms within
my mind, a frequent fascination that
with other thoughts, comports.
If only now, is there no then,
and sequencing of time, thus obsolete,
as all arrive en mass, surprised to meet?
The world I know is flat;
my finitude stretched thin, constrained to trust again.

Another fun one, a Mistress Bradstreet stanza: 10a-10b-6c-8b-10d-10d-6b-12a

This one comes from a notion from reading Matthew 25, in the Last Judgment. All would have died at different times, but on that day, all were surprised, hence the idea of different departures, all arriving at now.

A Wonderful World

A WONDERFUL WORLD
One of my favorite songs whenever it's sung,
"What a Wonderful World" is right on my tongue.
The melody's fine and the lyrics are great
but other thoughts sometime get to me
and make my heart ache.

Louie Armstrong sings it best.
He's way ahead of all the rest.
But is the world really such a wonder?
It makes you stop and then
ponder.

They quickly say the world is warming
but we can't say it was without warning.
Climate change affects the weather
And that doesn't make things better.

For the trees of green and red roses too
may not bloom as Louie sings it to you.
We'll have droughts and floods
and skies not so blue.

The clouds of white are not so bright
as storms brew over the lands.
And the shaking of hands
seem to be more of fright
as the winds stir up the desert sands.

We have "Arab Springs" and children are shot
and babies will cry, "please forget me not."
As the world seems to ache
from these things we forsake
for the love that we seem to have forgot.

The world is quite full of 6.5 billion
and the people starving are
more than 6 million.
Can that make it a wonderful world?

The friends who shake hands and say,
"How do you do?"
are they really saying, "I love you?"
The song says so but we really don't know
if they truly mean it or it's just for show.

But when we consider all things
about how the world really sings
and always ends up with a smile,
we know somehow the world will get by
as long as we give it a real try.

The world has been here for such a long time
and somehow has survived no matter what sign
through storms, earthquakes and more.
People live on regardless of any war
or disease that is other than benign.

Because no matter what dread
it can really be said
it is still a wonderful world.
And Louie is right as he sings with delight
of rainbows and bright stars in the night.

The message of the song is very profound
and with a little patience the world will rebound.
So even if it seems so imperiled,
indeed, it is still a wonderful world.

Breathless

I drink our kisses with my mouth run wild..
Your eyes are wild..
Pulse pounding with desire..
With no other thoughts or cares..
Riding the waves of passion created by us..
Leaving us both breathless and drained..
Finish with tender kisses to cool our burning lips..

Teen Girl Confessions

I was talking to a girl that goes to high school the other day, and she told me all these stories of the girls that go to her school, she is the head of an anti bully club and asked me to write something for her group.

You sit in your room crying about your weight
And how you never think you'll be asked on a date
You dream about marriage, a white picket gate
But you sit there and stare at the bumps on your face
For all the young girls who find no hope or joy
Because you're made fun of by popular boys
Your problem I know, isn't only skin deep
So what other thoughts does your mind always think?

When I see these young girls acting out of their age
So egar to grow up and turn life's page
I can't help but feel that their hurting themselves
And putting there innocence up on a shelf
There are teens getting pregnant, getting in bars
There's young ones getting high, losing it in cars
There's girls starving their bodies and cutting their arms
Getting drugged and raped despite all the alarms
There's the ones in the lunchroom eating all alone
Who feels rejected by peers and rejected at home
There's the girl with the braces getting called names
And forced to sit alone at the homecoming game

We are all so afraid to apologize to who we have hurt
So we run their names farther down into the dirt
Until we turn on the 6 o' clock news
And hear that they hung themselves in their bedrooms
Then suddenly bullies care, but not soon enough
About those girls who coped with drinking, sex and drugs
If we spent all the time before- lifting them up
And showering them with sisterly love
Then maybe we could all walk arm and arm
Protecting them from all of this harm.

The Rainbow

The Rainbow.

It must have spanned a quarter of a mile from
ground level end to end, a quarter mile
high in the sky.

I saw some children coming from their cars and
I said look there’s a rainbow. They did not seem
to dare nor to care nor understand

The shopping mall is new, the children are too
I wondered about both to big to
numb to rainbow.

I sat in my car, rain began to fall, the rainbow
in the sky began to fuse at one end to become
one with the sky.

The other end seemed brighter for a time
I figured it was time to leave. I drove
closer to home.

The people in their cars staring only at the line
of standing car in front of them. I wanted to shout
there’s a Rainbow!

But questioned why bother, it’s dying but not
As dead before it’s time as those who did not
wish to Rainbow.

Thoughts came of yesterdays and what of the
Tomorrows the children will they see as I
it’s rainbows of life.

Tears did come, so pretty was the rainbow.
Other thoughts came. It’s better to
think not of tomorrows.

Nor the many yesterdays, think only of today
and what a beautiful life to behold
any of it’s rainbows.

I know well of the pot gold at the end of
life’s rainbow. It shines brighter to a heavenly
light on into daylights bright.

Pleasurethe Melody Gradually Filters

The melody gradually filters
Through my being
Filling my soul with joy
I go with it savouring, anticipating
It’s genius – no other thoughts enter
Just floating with the melody
Surprised by some discords they startle me
Prepare me for the majesty of sound to come

A Sonnet For Jayne

A Sonnet for Jayne

O,'Tis such a rare and beauteous thing
Amidst the turmoil,who can explain
That which inspires a man's soul to sing,
Or to reflect its light in loud refrain.
Were the stars so sullen before we met?
Did both the moon and sun forswear to shine?
For I could roam the whole of earth, and yet
What beauty gazed upon compares to thine?
With but the lightest touch my heart combusts,
A whisper bids all other thoughts depart,
Ensnared within love's stormy throes and gusts,
With passion found, does life then truly start?
I pray thee say it's me whom you adore
Or let me go so I may die once more.
